Wow, you girls were chatty this weekend! Thanks to everyone for the support. It's really hard to hear that IVF may be necessary. Insurance doesn't cover it, so not only is it emotionally difficult, I've also been trying to figure out how to afford it. I'm still trying to have positive thoughts that this IUI cycle will work!

@bluestriped bee: I agree with everyone that you shouldn't put off teh job search while TTC and you should not put off TTC while job searching. I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason and at the right time.

@spaniellove: I don't plan to wear socks to my appointments, but since it's cold I usually have them on. But, my toes are also done. A pedicure is a must in my life. It is my relaxation time and I love it!

Thanks for the link to the IVF video. The clinic I am going to use has a introduction class once a month. I think if this cycle doesn't work, DH and I will go to that. They also have IVF support groups which I want to look into (if we have to do IVF)

@ineebee: Welcome! Good luck with Clomid.

@sweetooth: Happy TWW! I have my fingers crossed for you!

@justdarling: Have you seen the loan programs for ivf? They're high apr but instead of paying the entire ivf fee up front you pay a monthly amt to the loan office which is much more affordable! Hoping your iui works though so you don't even have to go there.

@marionberry: I hadn't even heard of that! Thanks, I'll do a little research. Hopefully the IUI works, but I like to be prepared!

@bluestriped bee: If you don't want me to intrude on this thread, please let me know! I just wanted to say that depending on the job, you should not fear looking for a job or starting a job after mat leave. I did that with #1, where I used my leave from job #1 and then started my new job when job #1's leave ran out. It couldn't have worked more perfectly, and because I used up my mat leave and my paid time off, I ended up with 4 months of leave before I started my new job.

I guess what I'm saying is that what worked best for me was to just go along with my preferred career plans while in the midst of getting married, conceiving and starting our family.

It was a little wild at times, but it prevented me from getting stuck in a rut!

@bluestriped bee: I hope for you its WHEN and not IF!

Along those lines though, I was given the contact info of a nautropath that ended up being a natural fertility clinic. They call patients "almost pregnant" which nauseates me a little bit

(And a little hilarious, Firefox wants to auto-correct nautropath to astronaut! hah)

Hey girls! I'm new to this board so I thought I'd give a little background. We have been TTC since Aug 2011. Through my regular GYN we did 3 rounds of Clomid, an SA, an HSG and a Lap, followed by another round of Clomid. I have endometriosis, although not too severe, and my DH has morph of 6% other than that it's good! I have one tube that is more tightly curved than the other (so I pretty much don't get excited about the month I O on that side). We have an appointment with the #1 RE in our city on May 1st but I'm PRAYING to get a cancellation appointment sometime in April. I'm already super anxious and excited to get in there. I'm not really sure what she'll have us do. The good part also is that she refers her PG patients back to my regular GYN so I feel like they have a good relationship. Any suggestions of what to ask or ideas of what we may be looking at for procedures? We're hoping for IUI quickly - Oh, I O on my own and have a regular cycle. We aren't interested in IVF so I'm not sure how that conversation will go Thanks for your help and advice!!

@Mrs.VW: Welcome to the thread I've been TTC since July 2011, isn't it time we both got a BFP?

It sounds like you have already covered a lot of what they would address in an initial RE appointment. I would think that you would be able to move into an IUI pretty quickly. Maybe the only thing I would ask is, if you didn't respond to Clomid can you do Femara or maybe injectables with your IUI? I hope you are able to get in there sooner than May so you can get some more answers and a plan of action to get you your baby!

    @Mrs.VW: Welcome to the thread.

As for me, just had my day 10 ultrasound and my follicles were mature enough so we triggered today. There was a follicle on both sides and sizes were 18 and 22. IUI scheduled tomorrow and I should be going to my acupuncture as well.

I was a little bit nervous that my follicles wouldn't be mature enough to trigger and I would have to have my IUI done right before I hopped on a plane to Maui. Glad I breathe a little. Now next up is if DH can make his deposit tomorrow. Fingers crossed he can.

@bluestriped bee: Congrats on the great follicles!!! I hope the IUI and the sperm deposit goes smoothly tomorrow! It will be so nice to spend part of your TWW in Maui!

@bluestriped bee: YAY for good follicles! And yay for a TWW buddy Can you send me some pictures from Hawaii so I can have a taste of it on my TWW too? I'm so happy for you that you can take care of the IUI and then jet off to Hawaii without much stress. Good luck to you and your husband tomorrow!

    @justdarling: @sweetooth: Thank you.

Now that I think of it, I'm a little worried. DH was in the ER again this past weekend with some sort of respiratory infection. Just realized that, last month, he was in the ER days before our IUI. I gave him lots of notice this time and I think he is a little eager to have a good IUI before we head off to Maui.

Ahhh, ok. Postive thoughts. He can do it.

@sweetooth: Yeah, I should be able to post pics from my phone. Glad to have a TWW buddy, too!

  18. Mrs.VW

    apricot / 460 posts

@sweetooth: Thanks! Yes, that is what I'm hoping for too. Injectibles with an IUI, off my 'good' side Luckily DH's numbers are good other than the morph so that gives me hope!

@bluestriped bee: Maui for a TWW distraction!?!? That sounds perfect - if only we all had such great TWWs! Good luck!

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@bluestriped bee: Yes, good luck. I'm sad we won't be on the same Island but I'll so close that I'll be able to see Maui on a clear day!

@Mrs.VW: Thank you! It's great that my TWW falls while I'm in Maui. It will be a great distraction.

@bluestriped bee: Yay, that's great about the follicles! I'm seriously jealous you got ones that big on CD 10. I got one 18mm on CD27, lol.

AFM, I'm at 3DPO. I tested today with SMU to see how strong the trigger was, and it was super faint. Last time it took until 8DPO ovulation to be out of my system, but I think this time it'll be gone sooner. However, I've decided not to keep testing it out. I'm headed out tonight to spend a week visiting my parents in FL (I live in MA) without DH. I don't really want to find out and not have him around. So my plan is to test again the day I come back, which will be 9DPO. I know it's still early, but I get super anxious not knowing and would rather test early and often, lol.

Also, my RE called today to discuss our plan of action for next cycle if this one doesn't work out. We decided to do what she called a sequential cycle - I'll start with 7.5mg of Femara and then do Gonal F. We're having some headaches because I have new health insurance but hopefully it gets straightened out. But poor DH has to do his SA over again because his morphology was low, which he hated the first time because the room really icked him out. And the insurance will require he see a urologist if it's low again or they won't pay for anything for me. It seems really stupid though - the very first time I ovulated we conceived. It turned out to be a CP, but those are usually caused by the egg quality, not the sperm.

Jenny Renny was wrong CD1 here. IUI # 2 was not successful. Just went for a baseline ultrasound so that if things looked ok we could order meds, but no - I have cysts.

I am oddly numb... I cried a little last night because I was spotting and talking with DH about our plan. He is so steady & strong where I worry this may never happen for us. Such a role reversal for us, I'm usually the optimist & he's cynical.

We're taking this month off. We'll probably do one more IUI but I picked up an IVF packet today. I almost can't believe that this is where we are. I am going to really try to take a break from the boards but I know I'll miss you all too much so I probably won't stay away too long Good luck to you all while I am away!!!

@kentuckygirl: I am so sorry to hear that IUI #2 wasn't successful for you. Are you taking this month off because of the cysts? Or more for your mental health? We'll miss you - but we'll be here for you when you return.

@kentuckygirl: I am so sorry! The same thing happened to me. It's probably good to take a month off. Hopefully the cysts go away quickly. The cyst that I had messed me up for 2 cycles! I know exactly how you feel. My doctor said that this should be our last IUI cycle and we should look into IVF. That's just so hard to hear! You will be missed around here, but I totally understand where you are at.

@MrsCB: Have a safe trip to FL! Enjoy the warmer temperatures and the break from everyday life. I think it's smart to hold off on testing until you're back with your husband. Sorry to hear tha your husband has to do his SA again. I can't recall, is there a reason why he can't collect at home and avoid the icky room?

@MrsCB: Great timing for a vacation! Hope you have a good time

@kentuckygirl: So sorry to hear it didn't work out I was really bummed that we had to take a month off (different situation though). But now that I'm on the other side of it I was happy for the breather. I hope to see you back in a month with good news about starting your next IUI.

A friend recently pinned a quote that I feel is really relevant to those of us struggling here:

“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”

@Mrs.Someone: LOVE the quote!!! Thanks for sharing!

@sweetooth: Definitely taking it off just because of the cysts. I have had a couple of months off when I didn't respond to Femara & they were good for me. I am sure this one will be too. Thank you!

@MrsCB: Good luck on your 9dpo testing and have fun in FL! I'm glad your RE looks to have a good plan of action for next time. Sorry your DH has to do another SA. My DH hated those too.

@kentuckygirl: So sorry this IUI didn't work for you...and even worse that you have the cysts preventing you from trying this month. I'm still dealing with numerous cysts from my cycle so I would've been in the same spot had mine not worked. I'm glad that your DH is being so strong for you! These are the moments that make us love them the most. My thoughts will be with you.

  33. Mrs. Pickle

    blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts

Have any of your doctors told you or your DH not to work out? My RE told my husband to not exercise. She said that he needs to keep his body temperature in the normal range. My husband loves to run and bike and she stressed that he shouldn't do those. So we found a gym with 24 hour pool access and are going to start swimming instead. She said that if he has to exercise swimming is his best option. I was wondering if this was a normal recommendation.

  34. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@Leialou: We've asked the urologist (a male infertility specialist) and the RE about DH's running because he's a serious long distance runner, and they both said they didn't think the running was a factor. Just to be safe, DH decided to hold off on the bike.

  35. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@Leialou: No one ever said anything to us, but we never asked. I was told not to exercise during the TWW after my IUI but that was it.

  36. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@Leialou: I actually just read an article today that said men who exercise have a higher sperm count than men that watch 2+ hrs of TV a day. Can't seem to find the article again though, sorry!

I need AF to show up so I can call the clinic and start my IVF injections! Where is she? I've been spotting faintly for 4 days now!

  38. Mrs. Pickle

@spaniellove: that's got to be frustrating!

  39. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@Leialou: I'm a little worried that there isn't any lining left for a real period, because not counting the previous AF, I've spotted (some days heavily) 14 out of 28 days this cycle.

  40. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@spaniellove: So just to be sure, have you taken a HPT? Maybe your spotting is a super-light period that will stop soon.
