@marionberry: OMG sorry! I think I copy/pasted from a version that got saved at the wrong time. Edited you back in!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Mrs.Someone: Urgh, I definitely made that edit at some point and it apparently didn't get saved in this version either. Fixed it.

@spaniellove: I'm so excited for you to begin the process! It's definitely happening now and I'm so hopeful for positive results for you and your husband
@Mrs.VW: That's AWESOME! I hope your appointment on Monday goes well!
@Grace: Thank you

I had my appointment this morning. Once again, they could only find 5 antral follicles, but at least today I got a doctor who commented that there were probably smaller ones they couldn't see. I'm going to start my injections tomorrow instead of today, but I was kind of mortified when they told me I'd be starting on 225iu Menopur and 225iu Bravelle (so 3 vials each). Besides the fact that I didn't order enough Menopur, that's twice as much as last time. The IVF coordinator definitely told me my numbers from my IUI cycle were decent IVF numbers, and I remember my E2 more than doubling every other day so I'm worried about OHSS at this dosage.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@spaniellove: You have to trust that the professionals know what they're doing. Since you'll have regular ultrasounds along the way, maybe they'll cut back dosage if they foresee a problem?
honeydew / 7916 posts
@marionberry: Hopefully they will...I remember last time they had to cut my dosage in half when they realized my E2 was tripling between appointments.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@spaniellove: And now they're upping it...so I get your concern. Well don't be afraid to voice your concerns. I'm sure the doctors would be happy to tell you why they're doing what they're doing and what they will do if things start to go awry.

I just got a call from the nurse at my RE's office. My husband had blood work on the 31st to check for chromosome abnormalities and the results came back normal! Now I'm having blood drawn on Monday to make sure I'm still immune to measles. That will be followed by another blood draw on CD 2 or 3 to check my hormones again. It's been a year since I had that done. Then I'll be going for an HSG about a week after that.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@spaniellove: I would totally ask about that and press the point. You don't want OHSS!

So I woke up wondering when Infertility awareness month was and found this page. BTW, it's April.

I love the YouTube video. It's great.
Wanted to share this with you guys.

@bluestriped bee: I love that video. I saw it a couple months ago and have considered using it to out myself with my family and friends on Facebook in April.

Just got the results from my Day 12 b/w & u/s after 50mg Clomid day 3-7, and I thought that I'd either get the green light or the red light for our timed intercourse this cycle. But they told me that I have some follicles that are not quite mature enough yet, and my estrogen level is 218 and LH is 6.7-something and lining is 6.3 and to come back again on Monday morning (CD14) for yet another round of b/w and u/s.
Is this typical? This is my first round of infertility treatment, and I knew I'd be coming into the RE's office frequently, but twice in three days? I love my RE and all the nurses, and I trust them and believe I'm in the best hands, but I'd be interested to know others' experiences. Thanks!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@ineebee: I would trust them. They usually want at least one follicle to be over 15mm before they trigger ovulation. I'd guess they just want to give your body a few days to let them grow. They grow about 2mm per day. Good luck at your next appointment!
pear / 1580 posts
@Marionberry: Thanks! 2mm a day, huh? That's fascinating! I didn't know that.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ineebee: I know every other day feels like you're always there, but it's pretty normal towards the end of a monitored cycle. Monday sounds promising - in my recent IUI cycle, I ended up triggering 2 days after my LH was 6. Hope your appointment goes well!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@spaniellove: Hope everything is going well with your injections and that you have been able to discuss your OHSS concerns with your nurse or doctor.
@Leialou: Yay for normal results! Glad to hear things continue to progress for you
@bluestriped bee: Thank you for sharing Hope all is well in Maui!
@ineebee: Good luck today! I hope there has been some great progress with your follicle size. I have heard from others that when you go in for monitoring and things aren't quite where they need to be, that they have you return 2 or more days after.
pear / 1580 posts
Thanks @Marionberry @SpanielLove, @Sweetooth! You ladies were right on the money. My follicle measured in at 19mm, so they told me to go ahead with my trigger shot tonight. I also had a dream last night that I was BF-ing a little baby girl! She was so so cute and precious, and I'm tearing up just thinking about it...!
How's everyone else doing today?
coconut / 8472 posts
@ineebee: Yay for triggering! Are you guys doing timed intercourse? I'm not sure if you know, but O generally happens 36 hours after trigger. Assuming the egg lasts for 12 hours, I always figure that gives us a 48 hour window for bd-ing from the time of trigger. Did you decide if you're going to tet out the trigger or just wait for the blood test?
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
I just had a fasting blood draw and they took 5 large vials and 4 small ones. I couldn't believe how much they took! The last time I had my blood drawn they took half that. When the phlebotomist got to the last three vials the blood was coming out so slow. I don't think she filled them completely. I felt terrible by the time she was done and couldn't get up. The phlebotomist had me put my head down and brought me some water. She was so nice about it. When I was feeling good enough to stand, she took me to another room and made me lie down. I'm better now and am going to get some breakfast ASAP!
This experience has made me more nervous to get my cd 3 blood draw in a week. That one isn't fasting though.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Leialou: as someone who faints or nearly faints at every blood draw (and I've had bw like, 8 times in the last couple months), non-fasting is SO much easier. Drink some gatorade before you go - if you're well hydrated your blood volume is higher, so it'll go faster.
pear / 1580 posts
@MrsCB: Yep! We're doing timed intercourse. My nurse gave me a sheet that pretty much gave us a BD schedule. Tonight: must. Tomorrow: optional. Wednesday: must, in the AM (!). Considering that it's really difficult to get DH up in the morning at ALL, it's gonna be a challenge getting him in the mood at 6:30am. =\
And I decided to wait for the blood test. I don't have any cheapie HPTs, so I'll just let my insurance cover the blood test and be done with it!
pear / 1580 posts
@Leialou: Wow, that's a LOT of blood!! At my CD3, they usually take one vial, which is what I hope they do for you! And second what @Shutterbug said: Drink lots of fluids before and it'll fill up more quickly! Good luck! Hope you enjoyed your breakfast!
pomelo / 5228 posts
@Leialou: Yikes, thats a lot of blood! For the cd3 blood testing, I think they took 5 vials. I get close to passing out every time. What helps me is to lie down, have a full belly (when allowed!), and bring a granola bar just in case. Cold water helps right afterwards too.
As for me, I'm in the "waiting to O" game. I definitely prefer the TWW! O should happen next weekend, yay.

3 hours until our first appointment with our RE. I'm just a mixture of nerves! Excited, anxious, nervous. I feel like I'm going to have to find ways to deal with stress if this is ever going to work for us I'm excited to hear what she thinks and what the first steps will be. I'm guessing a CD 3 blood draw and another new SA for DH. It's good I guess that I'm on CD 20 so I wouldn't have to wait TOO long for the blood work
nectarine / 2705 posts
@ineebee: Yay for good dreams and a trigger shot!
@Leialou: Fasting blood draws are the hardest. That is a lot of blood though! Glad they were able to give you the care and attention you needed to recuperate afterwards. If it's not a fasting blood draw, be sure to drink fluids before going in. It helps the blood flow.
@Mrs.Someone: I'm halfway through the TWW, I think all waiting is hard. I wish those of us that have a hard time conceiving could have a speedier process
@Mrs.VW: Those feelings you described sound so familiar. I don't know if you have looked into the Circle + Bloom meditations, or if you're into that kind of thing, but they have been helping me manage the stress of all of this. I've only been doing them for a week, but I really enjoy them. Good luck today! So happy for you that you could get in so quickly!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@Mrs.VW: good luck! I felt exactly the same way before meeting with my RE. I hope you like your doctor!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Leialou: That is a lot of blood! The only time I think I've had more than 1 vial was when we did genetic testing, or something similar to that, so you probably won't have to go through this again. But I've heard that drinking lots of water the day before and then another bottle of water an hour before helps a lot. Hope you're recovering well!
@Mrs.VW: That first appointment is exciting and nerve-wracking! Maybe consult appointments are always kind of exciting/scary. I second @sweetooth's suggestion about Circle+Bloom...I've been doing it for months now and although I can never seem to stay awake through the meditations they are definitely relaxing.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@leialou: That's crazy that they took so much blood. I've never had to do more than 3 little vials for any testing. I give blood regularly (well before I got pregnant) and the best thing for me is to drink a lot of water beforehand. It comes out so fast. Not much you can do fasting though...that's a lot of blood for them to take from someone who has no nutrients. Kind of shocks me actually.
@spaniellove: Where are you at with your IVF cycle?
@ineebee: Glad your follicle got to 19! Mine was 19 when I got the trigger shot too. We did IUI but due to some sperm issues with DH we didn't even deposit until about 40 hours later (and we didn't have any sex before or after) and we still got a BFP.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@spaniellove: I had my eye on the Circle + Bloom meditations after you spoke of them. Then I decided to jump in last week after my second IUI. I laughed when you said you can't seem to stay awake through them. Last night was the first time I did one with my husband lying beside me and I snored myself awake Obviously, I didn't make it through that one, but I like to think I was just that relaxed!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@marionberry: I love to be reminded that you got your BFP even though you didn't have sex after the IUI. We were so exhausted the week of the IUI, and I was feeling really full and bloated, so we never really followed up with one on one time.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@sweetooth: Ya my DH was sick so we couldn't bd at all in the days before or after our IUI. We did finally bd once like 3 days after the iui but that was it for pretty much the whole cycle. So I am truly proof that it only takes one sperm and one egg. I hope that same "bad luck" turns out to be good luck for you guys!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@marionberry: Tonight is day 3 of stims, so I probably have about a week left of injections. I go back to the clinic Wednesday morning and am hoping they decrease my dosage or else I'll have to keep reordering the meds! I already had to order an extra almost $1000 worth today. But I have my injection technique down really good and don't feel the needle going in at all!
@sweetooth: OMG, you too? I'm considering just starting in the middle now! Maybe once in the last few months I might have made it to the second part, which is probably the more important part.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@spaniellove: The second part is where I started this month. But I think the reason why I fall asleep is that the more I get into each consecutive day, the quicker I can fall into that relaxed state. I can only imagine how relaxed I might be when I do it from the beginning! Maybe I need to try doing them in the morning...
nectarine / 2705 posts
@marionberry: Oh I hope so! My symptoms right now are suspiciously similar to last month so I'm fighting the urge to feel like I'm out of luck this month. 7 more days until I know my fate...not that I"m counting or anything
