@marionberry: Ugh, glad my clinic uses z-pak. And they didn't do any antibiotics for the HSG!

Someone please stop me (no, actually don't). I've been asking for another puppy for months now and it has reached a peak! I am so ready to get serious about finding a puppy.

@SpanielLove: get a puppy! Get a puppy! Will you get the same kind?

  4. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@Happygal: Probably something similar - cockachons seem to be happy accidents!

  5. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@spaniellove: cockachon: cocker spaniel + bichon?

I think I'll always have a German shepherd, but recently Westies have been looking so cute. Not ready for another puppy any time soon though--mine is still very much a puppy!

Okay, my apologies. Definitely not infertility related!

  6. spaniellove

@Happygal: You guessed right! My dog will be 6 years old in a few months and I don't want her to deal with a puppy when she's much older.

@spaniellove: OMG, I saw the cutest puppy on the bus today. I want to get another dog but I know it's just an little fix to fill my infertility void. I know it wouldn't be practical because, if I were to get pregnant, I would be kicking myself with the added responsibilities of another dog.

Do they rent dogs? LOL. I'm kidding. I wouldn't adopt another dog unless it was for long term. Maybe I need to find a friend that is going out of town for business and needs me to pet sit for a month or so. That would keep me busy for a short while.

ETA: Or maybe I should volunteer at the local shelter. That would be perfect. Going to go look at my local shelter...

  8. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@bluestriped bee: Aww, you could always let your friends know you're available to pet-sit! We've been saying that it might be too much to deal with a puppy and a baby on the way, but it's been so long that a puppy would be grown up and trained by now! I don't want to keep putting off life for TTC and infertility anymore.

@spaniellove: We got a kitten to fill the infertility void and then got pregnant a month later. As she rips up the carpet, I'm almost wishing we had waited a little longer.

I think puppy talk on the infertility thread is perfectly acceptable

@spaniellove: I started a topic on this about 6 months ago (I can't believe it's been that long...) http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/would-any-of-you-buy-a-puppy-while-ttc We still haven't pulled the trigger, but I hear ya on the whole "putting off life for TTC and infertility". I think you should totally go for it - and I think we should too!

I had my CD6 monitoring appointment this morning. I think I'll be going back in another few days. I'm wondering if I should start alternating arms for bloodwork...

Right now there are 4 follicles, 2 on each side, that have grown to the point of being measurable. Do I get my hopes up yet? I guess I'll wait until the phone call later today before I decide that. I was able to ask some more questions about injectables. I'm getting better at it, but drawing the liquid into the syringe really is kind of tricky. Sometimes I can't believe this is my life...

  12. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@sweetooth: That sounds pretty good to me! 2 follicles on each ovary over 10mm at CD6 is really good, at least it is compared to what I'm used to. I can't believe it's gotten as far as it has for me either.

@sweetooth: @mrscb: What great cycles for you two! So very excited for you both.

@spaniellove: how many days until beta now? Are you counting down?

So I'm playing the "guess when you ovulate game" and my OPKs are not cooperating. I usually never ever (EVER!) have trouble reading my OPKs and they progress beautifully so I am sure when I ovulate but this month for some reason they have gone haywire! Would any of you take a look and tell me what you see?

  15. Shutterbug

    grapefruit / 4703 posts

@mrs.halfsie: I see all negatives so far. I think the sort of lighter ones could just be because of any random thing, like diluted urine or something.

  16. mrs.halfsie

    olive / 63 posts

@shutterbug: thanks! That's what I think too, but I went long gaps in between testing so I might have just missed it on a test

  17. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@Mrs.Halfsie: oh, those OPKs can make you cross-eyed! I'm amazed at how long I can just sit and stare at a little stick. I agree that none look like a clear positive to me. I'm sorry you didn't catch it on an OPK--I know that it a good feeling of security and at least something is going right!

@Sweetooth: so many people voting no for getting a puppy. I could counter-argue every point raised, but instead I would just say that I'm pro-getting a dog. Puppies can be a lot of work, but it's so rewarding. I'm extra happy to have mine while TTC.

@MrsCB: I'm headed back in tomorrow AM for more monitoring. The upped my injections, so I hope that those 4 follicles respond well. Where are you at in the process now? Do you trigger soon? I'm thinking good thoughts for you and your 3 follicles!

@marionberry: thank you Hope you're doing well and that you're getting farther away from the IF worries and moving into the fun stuff

  19. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@mrs.halfsie: I don't think I would ever be able to interpret those things. Sorry I'm not much help!

@Happygal: I know, it was a really interesting thread. A lot of people had opinions on it. I only wanted to hear the "yes" opinions But I know there is a lot to consider with bringing a puppy into your life. What kind did you get?

  20. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@sweetooth: I went back this morning and the smallest follicle wasn't readily visible, but the other 2 were at 19mm and 14mm :-D. I'm totally thrilled, I didn't think the 3rd was going to come along enough so that's fine. And I've never had a 19mm, I've only seen 17 or 18 before they have me trigger. So I'm guessing I will trigger tonight.

I hope your 4 keep growing :-). Fingers crossed its a good month for us.

  21. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@MrsCB: So exciting to hear about your follies! Hope you get to trigger tonight!

@sweetooth: Fingers crossed for your 4! How are you doing with your injections? Are you hanging in there?

Some of the issues people brought up in that thread - about what would you do if the dog and baby didn't get along - that applies no matter how long you've had a dog. I think what they were really getting at was that the first several months with a dog are intense, much like with a baby. There are moments when you get so frustrated that you just collapse and think you can't do it anymore. But IMO if you're really determined to make it work, you will. Look at all you've been through already!

  22. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@marionberry: You know, I'm actually not counting down at all...trying not to get into that mindset! Just trying to enjoy each day and tell myself someone's in there.

@sweetooth: thank you! I have my first real OB appointment today and only one week to go until the end if the first trimester.

@spaniellove: you're so good and patient! You'll be hearing great news soon I'm sure!

@mrscb: those are great sizes! Yay!

  24. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

OMG do you guys remember that "Baby On Board" sign thread? I saw this and laughed.

  25. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

Thanks everyone! Do you guys think if we trigger tonight I'll ovulate the 14mm too? Its previous growth rate was 1.5mm per day, so if I ovulate in 2 days then it should be around 17mm. But I read somewhere that the trigger will speed it up more. But I don't want to get my hopes up about doubling my chances this month.

  26. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@MrsCB: You have every right to be thrilled! That's great news I wish I knew the answer to your question about follicle growth and trigger. For now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed too that this is a good month for us both

@spaniellove: Thanks! Yeah, I'm hanging in there with the injections. They are getting easier, now that I've abandoned the q-cap. But this is proving to be way more intense than a Clomid cycle. All of the appointments, ordering and deliveries of meds, and waiting for phone calls...hard to pretend like life is normal. // I'm glad to hear that you're living life thinking that someone's in there I think that's a great mindset - I'm thinking that for you too Also - the sign - too funny...

@marionberry: How exciting! I peeked on the other thread to see your ultrasound picture I'm so happy for you I hope your first OB appointment goes well today.

  27. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@MrsCB: You should ovulate all eggs. That's what the trigger does. And my understanding is that it will still grow until they release in about a day and a half. Best of luck!

  28. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@marionberry: What I had heard was that you ovulate all *mature* eggs, so I wasn't sure if the 14 would get to mature status. In other news, I have EWCM for like the first time ever!

  29. mrs.halfsie

    olive / 63 posts

@happygal, @sweetooth: thank you! I know, I am just crazy. One of my close friends just got pregnant and offered to send me her fertility monitor, so I think I'm going to take her up on that. By the way, ran home to take another test at lunch and it came out positive - so all that worrying for nothing

@spaniellove: Oh my, I love that sign!

I also want to get a dog! We are finally getting away from the city and will have a little more space

  30. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

I got my instructions! And my answer about the 14mm follicle, haha. I'm supposed to do one more shot of gonal-f tonight, then trigger tomorrow. They think that'll give it enough time to mature. We're supposed to do TI on Saturday and Sunday, and then blood test on 3/18. I'm so excited, 2 eggs! And this cycle has been so quick! Although I say that now, before the TWW, lol.

  31. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@MrsCB: YAY! Grow little follicles! It's time for a positive pregnancy test for MrsCB! The beginnings are always so fast and intense, aren't they? And then the 2WW helps you mellow out

@MrsCB: HAHA my first Clomid IUI cycle was the only time I ever had EWCM too! I was so weird, I showed it to DH just to be like, "Can you believe it! This is what it looks like." I hope your follicles all get mature enough for you!

@bluestriped bee: How are you? Have you started another medicated cycle?

  36. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@spaniellove: I love that sign! Did you know that the purpose of the regular sign is so that if you're in an accident they know to look for a baby? I always thought it was just to boast you had a kid and hope people would drive nicer around you.

  37. BSB

hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts

@sweetooth: Yup, started meds on Wednesday. My day 10 ultrasound is on March 5th. I'm okay. Feeling a little down because of AF showing up. DH is really disappointed, as well. He doesn't have a support group so I wonder if he is okay. I keep asking if he has talked to any of his friends about it.

    How are you?

  38. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@bluestriped bee: Maybe that could be a suggestion to Mr. Bee, an infertility section on the dad's group for our hubbies to talk?

  39. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@bluestriped bee: I know what you mean. I think men tend to hold their emotions in, especially about this kind of thing. My husband revealed to me, when I exploded at him for always talking about his work stress, that he thinks all of this infertility stuff is compounding the stress at work. I told him to let me know if he needs people to talk to about it, I can find some. All of our husbands can connect

Are you doing anything different this cycle?

I'm doing ok. This cycle is different for me because it's injectables only. So there's a lot more monitoring, and buying of meds, coordinating delivery of meds, giving myself shots!!! It's a little nutty. Tomorrow is CD8 monitoring, my arm has barely recovered from the BW on Wednesday. We'll see how I've responded to my increase in meds tomorrow. This is so nuts.

  40. BSB

hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts

@marionberry: @sweetooth: it's a good idea for a place for men to speak about their infertilty but I don't think my DH would participate in an online community. He is not into online forums and such. Did you guys ask your men if they would join HB for infertility support?

@sweetooth: As for my cycle, it's the same. I'll give it one more try (3rd IUI) before asking the Dr to do something more.

Sorry for missing this but why are you doing injectables only this cycle? You were on clomid before right? Were you not responding to the clomid?
