Insomnia is just extra unfair when you are already up with a baby once or twice a night. Been in bed almost three hours, couldn't sleep, now the baby is up. Hopefully those breastfeeding hormones help me sleep after this!
Anyone else?

@Foodnerd81: Sorry and hugs....I have really bad insomnia still at 8 months pp. Some nights are better than others but I find it amazing how I can function on 3 hours sleep. I can tell it's not helping my weight loss goals though so I hope to get more sleep very soon since the excitement of the holidays are over. I thought that was what kept me up so much but now I am not so sure. I still am battling insomnia.

I battle this constantly.
I am hoping it helps with future LOs feeding schedules since DH is a very heavy sleeper.

Yup.... I feel the same way. This week has been particularly bad.

I battle this at least once a week. It is the worst. I'm sorry you had a rough night. Hoping you're feeling better this morning!

Oh I hate that! I do find that the breastfeeding hormones (or the getting out of bed) tend to help.

I did get a few hours after the 1 am wakeup, fed her again at six, and Dh took her for an hour and a half when she woke up at 7, so I slept then too. Phew. When she eventually got hungry again we had a great snuggly nursing session in bed so in feeling much better.
It's te worst when the weather is crappy and we are inside all day. I need to make more of an effort to get out and do something even when it's totally gross out I guess!

I go through this too. It does seem so unfair! Especially when baby starts sleeping a little longer too. At least in my case, I find that after a pretty bad night, I have an easier time sleeping the next night. So I try to get to bed earlier the next night if possible to maximize my sleep when it finally comes.

I battle this as well...I'd say one or twice a week, I can't fall back asleep if LO wakes up at night. It doesn't matter if its at 1 or 5am, my mind is just awake!
Sometimes, even though I'm exhausted, it can take me an hour to fall asleep at night. My husband tried to say "you must not be that tired"....he got a swift kick under the sheets!

@Foodnerd81: I have third trimester insomnia. You'd think I should be able to sleep while the baby is still inside!!

Ugh. I hate insomnia! I wake S for a feed at 3am and sometimes it takes me up to an hour to fall asleep again

Ha, I guess we're sleep twins, too. This happened to me last night. I got into bed at 10:30 and of course right around 11 M started fussing. She normally will go back to sleep but after 10 minutes it turned into wailing. I went to get her and checked her diaper to make sure she didn't poop, and that sent her into a full-on rage. So I finally nursed her and she fell asleep. But after all that screaming it was hard for me to fall asleep. Then she was up at 2:30 and 5:30 for feedings, too. I am tired!
I also hear phantom cries all the time while I am lying in bed, so that doesn't help!

@lawbee11: What is up with the phantom cries? Even when I have the monitor on, and can clearly hear that it's not coming from there, I think I hear her.
I make DH go in and check her if I don't want to feed her, because as soon as I go in she wants to eat. The other night she had managed to scoot up to the end of her crib, on her tummy, and was sort of pushed up with her face against the slats and couldn't back herself up. She was pretty ragey after that one!
