That's good that you have some answers and are having surgery (I wish I had had mine earlier), but I would be a bit cautious about your doctor's diagnosis. You *cannot* diagnose endometriosis through an ultrasound.

@CatchAFallingStar: If it makes you feel any better, (1) surgery is probably a lot cheaper than IUI (mine was because my insurance doesn't cover IUI), and (2) my doctor told me that she would NOT advise IUI for me, given my endometriosis. She is an endo specialist (not an RE), and basically said with endo your best bet is with IVF and that IUI would just be a waste of time and money. Where fertility problems are caused my endo, it's almost always a blockage or scarring issue, not an egg-production issue, so injectibles, etc. are not likely to solve your problem. For me, endo caused two blocked tubes, so all the time and meds in the world weren't going to get me KU. But, huge ((hugs)) - I was exactly where you are. I put off surgery, despite a lot of pain, for much longer than I should have because I refused to be "out" for the month of my surgery (you'll be on pelvic rest for at least 2 weeks post-op). Dumb, dumb, dumb.

@CatchAFallingStar: why would you need to do IVF? I don't understand why your RE didn't do this count first thing for you! If you had to spend the out of pocket expense for those injectable meds, that could be quite a loss. I'm sorry--this IF stuff tests your patience. But he is able to get you in so quickly--I'm having to wait two months just for lap surgery!

@CatchAFallingStar: sorry but wouldn't it be harder doing failed IUI after IUI...hopefully the surgery will take care of everything and get you your BFP!

I know this is sucky and scary and annoying that you have to wait so long, but (as a few others have mentioned) I'm really glad that you're getting this surgery done, which will hopefully clear things up and help get your BFP sooner! Rather than just continuing with IUI over and over with no results. Just think - if you had tried IUI for a few months, then you wouldn't have been able to try again after the surgery until this summer.

I know it's not the best news, but hopefully the surgery will give you answers, help clear things up, and help get your ! I have high hopes

@CatchAFallingStar: it does (or close to day 3) but I think what she meant is that your RE should have had all that info before starting you on any meds (esp. injectables). The usual process is to do all the testing, then meet with the RE and go over results, and then put a treatment plan in place.

ETA: regardless, I think it's a good thing that you've found this now, and hopefully with this info you'll be pregnant very quickly with treatment!

Oh friend-this is big news to take in:-/. How are you feeling about this? Surgery can be nerve-wracking, but if this helps make you better and helps increase your chances of conceiving, then it's a good thing...right? Thinking of you.
