C is on amoxicillin for an infection. My great sleeper all of a sudden REFUSES to sleep unless she just passes out someplace other than her crib. Has anyone else had a hyperactivity reaction from amoxicillin? The doctor agreed to switch her antibiotic today just in case and I already asked them not to flavor it to avoid any food dye sensitivities that might be at play. Mama's TIRED. Tell me I'm not just grasping at straws!

@jessibear: L was on pretty much every antibiotic including amoxicillin and never had this reaction. Is C acting sick? Maybe it's just the infection

Dang it I was hoping I was on to something! She's acting healthy, just super wound up and not wanting to sleep. Screaming if we put her in her crib. Thanks, ladies!

Never seen that as a reaction to amoxicillin or other antibiotic. However her infection certainly could cause the problem with her level of activity.

Thanks everyone. I'm still hoping it's something to do with being sick but starting to think it's the 18 month regression. I pulled out all the tricks last night, including driving around until she fell asleep. No luck. She wants to sleep with me and calls out for me in the night even when I'm right there. She's been pretty clingy. I'm just hoping it's temporary. She's still napping fine at daycare, so I wonder if I'm the problem. Ugh. I haven't been this tired since the newborn days.

It could also be that the antibiotic has upset her tummy.

@jessibear: If you're not already giving her probiotics, you could try that to see if it helps any tummy trouble that might be addin to the problem. For kiddos they make a powdered kind you can just dissolve in water or their milk. My daughter had recurrent ear infections and was on antibiotics frequently. The probiotics completely helped her tummy troubles from the antibiotics.
