LO isn't what I would call a super cuddly baby. He loves to be held, but only if you're walking around the apartment with him! He isn't the type to just snuggle on your chest while you lie down in bed or on the couch, and he rarely falls asleep on us, except when I nurse him before bed. I know I should be counting my blessings that he sleeps so well in his crib, but I can't help but feel a little jealous at hearing about all these babies who snuggle like crazy with their mamas and will only sleep on them! Anyone else with a more independent LO?

My LO sounds exactly like yours! He's 10 months old and doesn't give hugs or kisses either :'(

Yes us too...he stopped being cuddly at like 6w. Loves to be held but doesn't just sit there with his wad on my shoulder while we lounge.

My daughter was never super snuggly while awake. At 16 months she's recently gotten moreso, though.

DD was never snuggly. The only time she is now is when she doesn't feel good. But even then, she won't let you hold her for very long. I have to say it makes me sad when I see my friends' baby's wanting to snuggle.

Wagon Jr. was never, ever snuggly unless he was hurt, scared, or sick. We'd try to hold him or cuddle him and he'd just arch his back away from us. He's a super independent kid and not clingy at all, and not very possessive over either of us at all. Now that he's a little older he'll give us hugs and kisses if we ask.
LMW is definitely more snuggly, which I enjoy to the fullest!!!
There are positives and negatives to both types, so I'm glad I have one of each!

I would say my LO is in this category. She seems to like sleeping in her crib versus on me or cuddling in bed. She would much rather play games with people, play with toys or be walked around to see everything then to snuggle in bed or on the couch. I interpret it as she is a smart little girl eagerly taking in the world! It also makes our cuddle times and sleepy nursing sessions more special.

When Lo was younger (she's almost 5 months) then she'd always want to snuggle, but now I only get cuddles if she's super tired, all the other times she arches away from me which makes me think she will be a very independent young lady.

Yep! DD is not a snuggly baby. She is always too busy exploring the world. The other day she had one of her rare shy moments, where we were meeting new people, and she lay her head down on my shoulder b/c she was nervous. It literally melted my heart, since it was one of those rare moments when she reminds me that I am her mama, and nobody else can fill that role. She spends the rest of her time shoving me away, squirming her way out of my arms and trying to be all independent!

Mine isn't super snuggly or cuddly either. She can barely sit still!!

@hilsy85: my LO was not a cuddly baby at all...she slept awesome in her crib and was never a baby that loved to be rocked or held for very long. .She was always super independent and played so well on her own. But now, at 15 months, she is super affectionate. She gives kisses and grabs onto me with her arms and legs. When she is tired and ready for a nap she comes over to be picked up and will rest her head on my shoulder as we carry her upstairs. She loves to sit on our laps to read. So even though she was not a cuddly baby she is a cuddly toddler (she still seems like a baby to me though!)....I would say around 11 months was when she started being noticeably more affectionate.

C is not a cuddly baby AT ALL. She loves to be on the floor, exploring and playing on her own. She's extremely independent.
She's been sick the past few days and its the first time since she was a new newborn that she's wanted to cuddle at all. Ive been enjoying it, even though it gets me thrown up on. lol

@hilsy85: this sounds like J!! DH was just lamenting the other day about how he never gets snuggles or J to sleep on his chest anymore. At least our nursing time feels snuggly to me - he often falls asleep and sometimes I will let him sleep on me instead of putting him down!!

@hellobeeboston: ha DH also complains about this! I guess because they don't get the nursing sessions we do. L only falls asleep on me when I nurse him before bed so I am super protective of that and really don't like anyone else putting him to bed!

My son is NOT a cuddly baby...at all. Not since like 6 weeks old. Unless he is really sick, then he wants to lay on me and sleep on me. He's too high energy. He does like being held, but wants to play/face outward, or walk around.
