Disturbing to say the least. Not only his "punishment," but the crazy feedback he's getting... he's right that she was ungrateful, but his actions seem too extreme for any sort of negative behavior.

Haven't seen it, and glad I didn't! Sounds pretty awful.

I might be in the minority here but I thought it was a pretty cool video. I'm not keen on his use of a gun but I think he wanted to get his point across and destroying the laptop has a finality to it that simply removing the laptop doesn't. Plus, he's an IT guy so maybe he removed all the valuable parts before shooting it up. In regards to his relationship with his daughter though. I'd be interested to see if the public display will backfire on him.

What's sad, however, is that it had to come to such drastic public action. Reminds me again not to become a pushover parent and to teach my LO respect.....or at least try to.

At first I thought OK this might be a diff but not bad way of parenting and then he started calling her names and I turned it off. There's no way I think that it's OK for a dad to post a video of him calling his daughter a brat and other names for the whole world to see, especially as a dad of a teenage girl. Great example for her to find lousy partners who also call her pieces of poo. He's throwing a temper tantrum and I just have no idea what that's supposed to teach her, especially done in such a public way.

I totally applaud this guy & even his manner in doing what he did.

The thing about the gun, is that most of us are not keen on guns & they aren't part of our normal day to day...... from his demeanor it looks as though that isn't the case, so shooting something up isn't all that odd or out of the ordinary. I'd LOVE to shoot something up like that, it really is FUN! lol

I also don't think that he thought the video would go viral like it has so I'm sure he wasn't expecting it to be SOOO public, but something that I learned a long time ago what when you commit a public offense you make a public apology, so I believe in a case like this a public action like he took is VERY appropriate.

I guess I missed the names... but yea I'm not into name calling... not to be mistaken with calling a lazy person lazy or a spoiled brat spoiled.... that to me isn't name calling but just calling the kettle black. Sometimes we need to know that we're being a jerk, exactly like that "you're being a jerk".

Definitely not the normal mode of parenting, but I'm pretty sure if more parents did something crazy like this, less kids would be acting like his daughter did.

I'm sure there is more to her behavior that warranted this. I hope at the very least his video and that fact that it has gone viral will make both of them aplogize to each other and work on the relationship.
