Sorry I keep posting about carseats but I'm still on the fence. We are planning to get a convertible soon and then try transitioning her to that and if she likes it then we will use the convertible for our road trip. But I still like the convenience of the infant seat too. Is it silly to take both car seats on the trip? This way we can move her from one to other

Travel with an infant/toddler is tough so do what'll make all of you most comfortable! -
@chopsuey119: Yeah I feel the same way! If one more car seat will keep her happy then why not take it.

I say don't do it. Traveling with a baby involves a lot of crap. Do you really want to deal with two seats? If you think she's not going to like the convertible just don't take it. It sounds like you like the infant seat more anyway.

I vote to minimize the baby junk. Just try out the convertible before and see which one she likes better, then decide last minute.

@c.sassy: I am totally torn. I dont really prefer the infant seat thats just what we have been using so she is used to itbut I fear she may get tired of being reclined in it for such a long drive

@Mrsbells: Honestly, I don't think she's going to care much about which carseat she's in. I think her bigger issue will be with being in the carseat for so long. Let us know how it goes! We'll be driving (13 hours) home for Christmas with a 7 month old, and I'm nervous!

@c.sassy: Yeah I'm nervous too, she will be 7 months too and we are doing 12 hours. are you taking your infant seat? or will you have switched by then

@Mrsbells: Assuming LO hasn't outgrown her infant seat, we'll be taking it. I'm hoping that a convertible seat will be her Christmas gift from one set of grandparents, so we may use it on the way back. Recently we were visiting family for 3 weeks and we used a convertible seat the whole time. She did great in it! I think it took a few rides for her to get used to sitting so upright (she was more confused than anything), but she loved it after that.

We took the convertible at that age bc we traveled at nap times and that was better for sleeping. When she was awake it was nice to have the extra room for someone to sit in the back with her.
Plus I assume you would buckle the extra seat in even if it wasn't in use? If not that's a pretty big projectile in case of an accident.

@Thehistoryofus: Yes we would have both seats set up, so we could easily moveher fromone to the other. THat way even if she prefers the convertible for driving, when we make a stop we could put her in the infant seat and carry her around in that.
