@Truth Bombs: @MrsSRS: So I called the Dr and talked to a nurse and they said to bring her in if she ends up with blood in her stools, starts spitting up or gets really fussy. They also suggested I cut back on dairy but not eliminate it. I've done that since Monday and haven't had any dairy except for butter and if it's baked in bread... But her stools have gotten more mucousy in the last 12-18 hours. She has a well check on Thursday but I just wish this was fixed! How quickly would I see her stools improve after cutting back on dairy?

@hilsy85: She's not really drooling or congested. The whole last week I would say her stools were always mildly stringy. Last night and today I am seeing more globs of mucous. She's still not overly fussy or cranky though.

@Ms maths: I love dairy too so this is hard for me! If it was occasional diapers I wouldn't be as concerned but this is every time she poops..

@Silva: I actually had an appt with a lactation consultant yesterday and we talked about the foremilk/hindmilk thing too. I've been trying to do more block feeding with her since then, but she isn't often content with only one side. But she is definitely getting a second letdown on the first side now. My DH is more on the "chill out" side of things. You wouldn't think I would worry about it so much considering this is my 3rd time at this! It just bugs me!

@NovBaby1112: Yea, I would say the mucous has gotten worse in the last day. There were tiny specks of green one time last night but that's it. Her disposition is still fine though for a 4 week old! I am worried it's going to get worse and it is the consistency of it that has me more concerned. I feel like it has to mean something!

@JoyfulKiwi: Thank you! I feel like it has to mean something too. What did cutting back on dairy look like for you? My lactation consultant said to stay away from milk, cheese & yogurt. But what about milk baked in things? Or butter? Thanks for the info on how long it could take to make a difference! Part of me is wondering if I should just completely eliminate it and wait the couple of weeks to see if it changes and then add back in the little amounts like milk baked into bread, etc.

@sunny: This is my first time with a baby with mucousy diapers so I feel new at this! DD2 will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. Did you have a hard time eliminating dairy completely from your diet?
