I'm so sorry to say this, but it makes me think of hymen

I don't think the spelling captures the "Simon" pronunciation you want--I would say the "i" like in "igloo" whereas the "o" in Simon is like the first sound in "octopus."

What about something like Milo, Miles, Martin, Mason, Mario, Marco, or Malcolm?

An M name we recently came across was Meyer.

I'm not a fan. It is one of those names that is trying too hard to be unique.

I also first thought of Moomin (or Mumin in Scandinavia) - which isn't a bad thing at all. So my opinion is based on the spelling. Is Mymin supposed to pronounced:

mai-min
mai-men
mai-mon

I live abroad and Mymin would be pronounce (kind of like) meeew-min. The y sound is hard to translate in English, but it's like saying "me" but with your lips protruding like you're saying "boo".

The 'm' sounds are too close together, so it's a mumbly mess.

tbh, it reminds me of the song "The Name Game;" you know, "Simon, Simon, bo bymon, me my mo mymin..." It doesn't pass the "would I want this name for myself?" test.

Lyman is a similar name without the being made up factor.

I don't think the S of Simon is harsh. I think it would be harsh to name your kid Mymin (sorry, you asked!)

I wanted to add that I love the name Simon, and think it's a really soft--not harsh--sounding name. Other M names that I love and have that my-sound are Miles and Milo. I personally don't love the spelling of Myles, but that is closer to Mymin and less made-up

Please don't do this to your child. Sorry but I am not a fan of made up names. Your kid will be explaining his name his whole life. Also I don't think Simon sounds "harsh" at all.

Since you asked, I'll be honest: yes, I think it's awful. It's too rhymey. I don't think it would be mispronounced that much - it sounds just like it is spelled; but I really don't like it. I also dislike Kyden too.

I don't love it or hate it. It makes me think of Mayim Bialik. But I would pronounce it "me-min" or "mim-in" and not "m-eye-min". Maimin would make me rhyme it with Simon but it also makes me think of the Hawaiian noodle dish called saimin.

How do you feel about this name when the boy is 10? When he's applying to college? When he's
in his 30's/40's trying to get promoted to partner in his firm?

It's definitely a cutesy, made up name. I think it will have trouble growing with him...but if you love it, go for it. Some of the currently trendy (and much more common) names have the same issues about being very time-period specific or sounding young; it's just that in 30 years there will be a whole bunch of Jaydens/Caydens/Jaxsons all in the same boat, so it's less of a big deal, IMO.

i wasn't sure how to pronounce it, and actually thought it might make a charming girl's name. however, while i know you asked for our opinions so you were prepared to hear anything, obviously go with what you like regardless of what we say.

Even when a name isn't my style I can see why someone else likes it, but honestly this one is just an all out no for me.bbut, if you like it that's really all that matters.
