It is not legal in MI (aside from the casinos) and I LOVE IT.
I used to hate how restaurant/bars were sooo stinky... (and I'm an ex-smoker!)

Ex smoker who gets sick at the smell of smoke. It's only allowed in casinos and I've literally only been once in my life so not a big issue!

Nope (also MI). I love it! My city also has an ordinance that you have to be 25 feet away from building entrances.

we do go to the casino a lot because FIL hooks us up with his comps for dinners/hotels/shows/etc. downtown, I try to stay away from the casino area as much as possible.

It's illegal in Canada thank goodness. When I was a kid there were still smoking sections in most restaurants and that sucked.

@MrsH: We have that too but it's not enforced enough imo. I really hate it when I leave a building and immediately find myself in a cloud of cigarette smoke.

@pui: it is the worst! A lot of businesses have signs up to tell people they can't be by the doors.

I didn't know it was legal to smoke indoors anywhere anymore! I'm in California and have never experienced indoor smoking except for at casinos.

It is illegal, and my state was one of the first to pass it at the time. Casinos are part of the exclusion though. My parents owned a restaurant at the time and was pretty upset, afraid they would lose customers. I personally hated it every time a customer would smoke inside. It's not pleasant or considerate to others.

Nope. It's illegal, even in parks. We do have cigar bars where people can smoke, but their business is selling things to smoke, so I guess there must be an exception for business where smoking is the sole purpose. Hookah bars are also allowed, but that's a little different.

In NC its illegal and its also illegal in our county but there are parts of SC that still allow it.
