We got rid of our microwave in May and haven't missed it at all. But as @Mrs. Polish: said, ours was always disgusting and in need of a good scrubbing before we got rid of it. Mostly, I think, because we used it so rarely we never noticed it was dirty.

Heat a bowl of water inside it and it's super easy to clean! I try to do it every Sunday (my cleaning day).

@BakerBee: I do this too and I add vinegar to the water.
Mine is always clean because I HATE microwave smells.

Yes, I boil a glass of vinegar once a week in there and wipe it out, it is easy and quick.

Mine is clean...ish...but my husband microwaved aluminum foil last week so it looks dirty. WHAT was he thinkign??!?

I clean it whenever something spills. Otherwise we have one of the microwave plate cover things, so it rarely gets messy.
best $5 I ever spent.
