My LO has a canvas hamper with a stand. I haven't purchased one for Baby 2's room yet.... I might just buy a new laundry basket and use it like a hamper.

We have a canvas one in a wood stand that we keep in the closet and we usually keep one side of the closet door open so we can toss the dirty clothes in easily from the changing table/dresser.

We have a tall laundry basket like this in her room (minus the lid, we lost that part years ago!) Nothing fancy but it gets the job done and I just lug it downstairs to the laundry room when it starts getting full.
