It's amazing the things some people will say on a public, Facebook group. I stay on them for the entertainment value. I love reading all of the *excellent* advice moms offer one another. HB is so nice and tame compared to local boards.
Do you have a bunch of crazy on your local mom boards?

In our local MOPS, the president gave her one year old a PB cracker while she was playing with my friend's kid with a severe (epipen) peanut allergy.
When my friend grabbed her kid and moved to the other side of the room, the president rolled her eyes and whispered to her friends about crazy, overreacting Moms.

There's not much drama or bad parenting advice but there are so many warnings about stuff that has never happened (fake abduction stories, lots of never let your kids out of your sight stuff). A few times I've asked the poster to take down obviously false stuff as to not freak out the 4,000 moms on the board but apparently that's rude. Now people preface their false posts with "I don't know if this is true or not." In the time it takes to type that you could have checked.

The military mom/wife Facebook groups when we were in England though. Holy hell. Those bitches be craaaaaaaazy. Constant drama and legitimate attempts to ruin people's lives/careers.

The actual advice is usually reasonable but there's a lot of drama added in. To be honest I think it's drama that most people on HB seem to avoid or manage better from my perspective- relationships with the fathers, money, in laws, health concerns.

no! Unfortunately, haha. Very very rarely, there will be a small bit of drama, but our town is sort of....I don't know--you can't hide behind your computer screen here, because you are likely to be speaking to someone who is a friend of a friend. As a result, our mom's groups here are generally really friendly and helpful. Generally

The one I am apart of isn't really my focus anymore (mostly new moms with infants). I left CSFTL because of all the drama with ERF vs. FF. It felt like you were shunned if you turned your kid at two.

I'm in a group with over 10,000 members so there is definitely some crazy--mostly of the helicopter mom variety. I also belong to a Russian Parents group, and that is just a whole bunch of craziness--many of the posts deal with DH/nanny affairs or bizarre health issues (complete with photos!).

not really. before i moved, the local board was quite tame and respectful. it was moderated really well, with the occasional blow out. Since i;ve been in my new neighbourhood, i can't seem to find an active group. the one for my location doesn't post anything except the occasional question or selling something, it's boring.

@lawbee11: i just hide those groups from my newsfeed so i am not bothered by them, but can still access if i want info or have a question.

Where I live it seems like there's a line down the middle of 'FF every day's an emergency' moms and' ultra-crunchy non-vaxing breastfeed or die' moms.
I didn't feel like I fit in, so I turned to the internet and found HB (via WB).

Haha I think the moms on my local breastfeeding support group FB page are crazy!! They want to put breast milk and coconut oil on everything.

@Corduroy: Ugh, YES! So much crazy, fake, freak everyone out junk. I also call them out and get called rude... because even if this one story isn't real, it really COULD happen and we should all be OMG so so careful.

It seems pretty crazy to me. I don't have it on my news feed but everyone once in a while my Facebook-crazy neighbor will post in it and I'll get a notification - usually on crazy drama posts that are highly entertaining!

My local group is pretty tame. The only instance of major drama such that I felt I had to leave the group was, of all things, the Tula Love group. I don't even have a Tula but I enjoyed window-shopping when people would post pics of theirs. But oh my god it went completely off the rails one day. Click, unfollow.

Yes. I'm a pretty crunchy mama but these women take the cake. They all make their own wipes, sometimes even their own cloth diapers, try to refuse antibiotics for actual, significant infections, have judged me for giving my kids the vitamin K shot, and will make their own formula at home (full of questionable ingredients) rather than buy even an organic formula. Or just give their kids raw goat milk when they are like 4 months old if their milk dries up.
I feel like I'm judging them just by posting this, but seriously...sometimes I just don't even know what to say!!!

I'm not on there but I imagine it's crazy just judging by the other SAHMs I've met from my area... They have tended to be the schedule every minute type and it just seems way too stressful to me!
