I hate paying for shipping! That's why I hate j crew... They charge so much for shipping.
Is there anything you're cheap about?

umm everything...
haha jk! I have a good balance of knowing when to invest in certain items and when to bargain shop.
I'm cheap when it comes to baby clothes. I normally don't pay more than $5/per item except for shoes.
coconut / 8430 posts
Me too! It irks me to pay shipping for some reason.
I hate paying for things that I think should be cheap. I can't shop at the Container Store because I feel like all the plastic bins should only be a few dollars--not $20+.

Shipping is such a huge one for me thanks to being spoiled by Amazon Prime.
I'm also very cheap about iPhone/iPad app purchases. Hate spending anything over .99! Ridiculous when I think about how much I spend on things like food and clothes.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
I'm cheap at thrift stores. Like cheaper than thrift prices. I wish I was cheaper at a lot more stuff though!
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
Another shipping hater here. At the moment I'm cheap about sending birthday presents to family - we have HUGE immediate families (9 nieces and nephews, 9 siblings, 8 of them have partners, then parents and step parents) and it costs a FORTUNE to ship to the UK from Canada. I'm not proud of it but it's hard not to be cheap about it. When we move home we'll spoil everyone then : )

Car wash.. DH likes the cars clean and I just like mother nature do her magic when she feels it is necessary. $20 for a wax & wash is ridiculous IMO
ETA * I agree with shipping and plastic containers too *shake fist*

I hate paying for shipping too! Actually, i also hate paying regular price for things, especially these days with all these sales and promotions.
nectarine / 2994 posts
Everything! I'm usually in the mindset that if it's THAT expensive, then I don't need it! Of course there are exceptions.
coconut / 8430 posts
Ooh I thought of another thing -- greeting cards and wrapping paper! As much as I love pretty cards and pretty paper, it pains me that people send me $5 cards and use expensive gift bags and paper. I just buy a pack of 20 cards from Costco and write in those. I also ordered a ton from Cardstore.com for < 0.50 each! For gift bags/paper I try to reuse if they aren't wrinkled or I buy them at the dollar store/Marshalls/TJ Maxx.

I also hate shipping and paying for expensive cards (even though I really like Papyrus cards)!

Everything? I am so cheap it takes me FOREVER to make any kind of purchase because I want the most inexpensive option...

Parking! I hate paying for it at all! £16 for 5hrs on a Saturday in town is too much
pineapple / 12526 posts
@sunny: We totally reuse gift bags.
I HATE paying for shipping! I never order anything online unless I've looked for a free shipping code first. A lot of times, I just dont order if the shipping is really high.
bananas / 9628 posts
@illumina: yes! Paying to park sucks! Especially when you're going somewhere to spend money on something else, it's like your paying for the chance to spend money, grrrr
I hate paying for gas, like I get angry about it! I put $40 in my tank and got exactly 1/2 a tank or 150 miles out of it. Ruins. My. Day. Also I hate paying ATM fees, actually I don't pay them because I refuse to use an ATM with a fee unless I'm abroad and have no choice or some other extreme situation. And bottled water! Errrrr, I hate paying for a plastic bottle of tap water! We almost never buy bottled water, I refill my camelbak, but it pains me when I have to buy a bottle of water.
nectarine / 2886 posts
Shipping. I refuse to pay for shipping.
And this might sound bad, but I'm cheap about retail taxes. Maybe because where we live now has sky high retail taxes (almost 10%!), and I used to live in a city where there was no clothing tax. This is why I love amazon (for now).
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@sunny: I agree! We got a box of cards and wrapping paper for the $1 store. When we get gifts I totally save the bag and the tissue paper.
I am trying to cut out all of the small little $5 or $10 purchases because they add up. Like the post from Mrs Pen yesterday about the 10 Free IG prints. It still would have been $5 after shipping so I passed. I can live without.

Baby clothes, I never pay full price. Clothes for myself, also never pay full price. There are a lot of things but I think I'm more frugal than cheap.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
Everything lol! But we have to be thrifty on our budget. I wash my own cars, don't buy many brand name food items, avoid shipping costs, etc. Mostly what other people have said. Oh, and I never pay full price for clothing. Oh! Water bottles! My sisters think I'm crazy for drinking out of our (perfectly safe) tap, because my mom raised them to drink out of water bottles, which are cra-zay expensive (and bad for the environment!). I refuse to pay huge markup for water!
grapefruit / 4554 posts
Kcups- I always try to find the best price for them! And I totally reuse gift bags, I have a great stash of baby shower gift bags now!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Everything that involves me. Hubby hates that. If we're going out to eat, and I'm debating between 2 items, I always pick the cheaper one, or if the entire menu is kind of pricey, I pick the cheapest item there is that's not strictly "appetizer", even if I'm not really feeling it that item.
papaya / 10473 posts
Everything? lol. We do a Dave Ramsey type budget, so I'm always looking for ways to stretch my envelopes farther. Shipping is a big deal to me. I also hate paying for car washes. My husband's pet peeve is ordering drinks in restaurants - he likes to point out we can go out to eat two more times per month if we just order water!
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
Paper products yet I always want the softest, most absorbant etc.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@grizz: do you have creative names for your envelopes? I fill them so DH's spending money is labeled Honey, show me the money! And mine Mine, All Mine.
honeydew / 7230 posts
I'm pretty cheap about shoes. I'll drop quite a bit of money on expensive purses, but more than $50 for shoes? No way. Which is sort of silly because I'm always complaining about my feet hurting. Maybe if I got nicer shoes I wouldn't have that problem!
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@twodoghouse: lol my feet hurt no matter how much I spend on shoes. I swear I have the worst shaped feet ever!
grapefruit / 4442 posts
everything... my friends joke that I have a coupon for a coupon.
papaya / 10473 posts
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: DH puts silly names on them every month! It cracks me up when I get them.
grapefruit / 4187 posts
I'm cheap on everything I can be cheap on since it's so hard in this city. At the grocery store, everything besides meat and produce I buy the cheapest version possible. With clothes and shoes, I never pay full price or pay for shipping. But of course I have expensive taste!
squash / 13199 posts
I also hate posting for shipping, especially when the cost is ridiculous in proportion to the size and cost of the item I am buying
pomegranate / 3809 posts
Everything, especially shipping too. I always buffer up to the free shipping, then do free returns in store if I can, otherwise I never pay for shipping.
Food... always sale items for the week.
Clothes.. not even just sale, but clearance everything.
pomegranate / 3895 posts
Really dumb things. I was at the dollar store a week or two ago looking for little organizational baskets to put in baby's dresser. All the ones they had were $2.50/basket. While I realize that is still really cheap, I refused to buy any, because I knew I'd previously gotten the same ones for $1/each. So now I don't have any....
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@bunnylove08: I wish I was better at couponing. I'm so bad at it. Do you coupon to the extreme like that show?
apricot / 364 posts
Oh so much cheapness. Pretty much everything except shoes. At work they like to joke that I'm so cheap that I squeak when I walk. I tell them that I will just keep squeaking my way to the bank.
persimmon / 1081 posts
@Mrs. Bee: I used to work at J. Crew and I'll give you a tip. At every store there is a red phone for placing catalog orders. All orders placed thru this phone gets free shipping. Now, it's been about 8 years since I've worked there and at least a few years since I placed an order this way, but it's worth trying!
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
@mrsmate: great tip! but i never go shopping in stores anymore. no time alas so i buy everything online.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
I hate paying full price at clothing stores without a coupon! I feel like there is always 15-25% off so I dig online before buying anything!
