I realize most names are going more gender neutral but a girl I know just announced they are naming their daughter Kohen. I have only heard that name for boys. Have you heard it for a girl before?

@coopsmama: I've only heard it for a dog, that was a boy lol

Cohen is boy. I guess maybe the K makes it more girl-ish? I don't know...still seems boy-ish to me.

More boy, but I actually really like it for a girl! I think it works and could be cute.

Definitely boy.
Kohen is Hebrew for priest. Male descendants of Aaron.

I immediately think boy, but it's not super masculine, so I could see it as girl too I guess!

Okay, so I'm not off base with this! Guess they just went outside the norm.

@Mrs.Someone: this exactly. Though I guess lots of last names are becoming first names these days.

@Truth Bombs: Both of my kids have last name type first names. But they aren't culturally sensitive names like I think @Mrs.Someone: might be inferring? (And I can definitely see that!)

@coopsmama: yes, exactly

It's a "technically" a boy name and should be spelled with a C, IMO (I hate different spellings).
But Eliot and Ryan and Parker and Carter are all 'boy' names and they work for girls, too. No names are gender specific these days!

I know a family with a girl Kohen. It's either spelled Kohen or Koen, I can't remember..but definitely with a K. It was the first time I ever heard that name. The girl is almost 14.

Boy, we have a cousin Koen, and i can't see it for a girl? probably because he's all boy!

A friend of mine named her son Cohen (because she loved Seth Cohen on the O.C., ha!). So both because of her and because of Seth Cohen (since Summer always called him Cohen), it's definitely a boy name.

@2littlepumpkins: i know a boy Koen.
i would read boy with that one!

@Mrs.Someone: yep most Jewish people would be offended. @coopsmama: that's probably why thy went with a different spelling!
