We just bought a new home. We have not completed any steps for it but my in laws went to the home without us knowing and walked through it. I’m upset about it. DH was too and spoke with them. Am I wrong to be upset…. i feel like they overstepped their boundaries especially on something special.

I would be very upset by this. I’m sorry. That is not at all appropriate in my mind. I mean I understand they might be excited but would it not be more special for them to wait and let you show them around!?

@jhd: You would think?! We haven’t even seen the finish touches and it’s our home :/. I’m glad DH spoke to them and told them we felt this was wrong but they don’t see the “issue”. I feel bad cause it would be better if they would just apologize and understand how we feel but no… unfortunately this is normal on their end.

I don’t even understand how this was allowed but I agree that it’s totally inappropriate. Was this unusual for them? Or is this not the first time they haven’t understood boundaries?

@erinbaderin: No, they’ve always overstepped since the beginning. Sad.
We aren’t too sure as I think since contractors are in and out trying to finalize and my FIL drives by regularly when in the area- I think they took the opportunity and just walked in and walked through. They called DH after to brag. So disappointed.

No, that's weird and annoying. My in-laws (and my parents) drove by our new house after we had our offer accepted but with my SIL my in-laws actually got out of the car and walked the property and peered in windows.
