I just got chewed out by the DD lady for something I wouldn't have thought twice about before. I was going through the drive through & they have two of those trash bins, I had a bag with two empty 20oz bottles and a to go food container in the car (ate on our way to something & it was forgotten in the back seat), so I tossed it in the trash. When I got to the window the lady yelled at me saying you could only throw DD trash in the bins, I said okay, and waited for my order, but she kept going! That I was rude, who did I think I was, what if everyone brought their trash from home, seriously she just went on and on and on. It's not like I brought trash from home or tossed something large, they were in one small plastic bag, you can't fit a large bag in the opening of those bins if you wanted to. I wanted to just drive off, but I had ordered & thought it would be wrong since I think they'd have to dump my order.
Is it rude to throw trash from another place away in a drive through trash can?? I was a paying customer, it's not like I just wanted to use their facilities without buying anything. At first I was thinking it was cold & she didn't want to have to go outside to empty the trash today, but the way she carried on made me think I was either really wrong or she was just a raving loon. I certainly don't want to be rude in the future if this is a legit offense.
From a drive thru/ fast food standpoint companies should provide trash cans for customers without regard to the trash they throw in it. How else are people who live in (eat in) their cars going to make space for new food & drinks?
