My in-laws said that every odd year was hard for them (1, 3, 5, etc). Then I saw this today:
Terrible 2's
Trying 3's
Furious 4's
Fearsome 5's
Is this true?

Haha. My friend said her second son missed his Terrible Twos, but hit it hard with the F***ker Fours! I think it depends on the kid

I've always thought 3 was worse than 2, but I won't know for a couple years. I think it does depend on the kid!

Three has been the hardest age so far for my daughter. Two seemed bad... until one year later.
I heard 4-6 is the "golden years"!

3's have been much much harder than the 2's with DS1! He's almost 4 and lately it's been a little better. Here's to hoping it continue to get better and better.

3 was definitely worse than 2 for G but afterwards we haven't really had any issues. Another asserting ones self stage has recently been going on at 8, you can tell he's starting to want more control of *his* life, it's leveled out again though.
We'll have to see how P is, she's 12.5 and has never thrown a fit, not from what I can tell anyways! (Don't know if that makes me happy or scares the crap out of me for when she does combust)

I feel like every new year is difficult because you're dealing with new things. You think you finally figure something out and figured out to handle LO.... and then they change and create a whole new set of problems.

I always thought this was funny, my son's behavior was best at age two! I called his three's the terrible three's, then he was much better at four, horrible at five and he hasn't really outgrown it and he's eleven! Every year has it's ups and downs

Generally from all the conversations I've had with friends and strangers with boys and girls are... girls are easier than boys and boys are just hard period, especially the younger years. Girls are harder starting grade school. I have two boys and my grey hair just keeps on coming!

@erwoo: lol boys are hard!!
I think it depends on the child. 1-2 were super easy. 3 was unbelievably hard. 4...we are only a few weeks in so I can't tell you yet (but so far, no bueno). Also, there are really GOOD times within all those years too and I'm trying to focus on those!

@HLK208: Yep, same here. Only a week or so into the 4s and it's still quite difficult, especially since we're not napping every day now. No naps = wild child around dinner time to bed time for us. I loved the 1-2s. Although, I think it'll be different with my 13-month-old. LOL! He's already a tough one!

I'm at the tail end of 5, and it's been easier than most years...but he's always been a pretty easy kid.
I've heard that the beginning of each year (right when they turn a year older) they're worse and then the middle of the year is much better. Seems to be true for us.

I heard every half year. 1.5 and 2.5 did seem particularly hard for us.
