The NYT has this interesting article about the Maternal Grandparent Advantage, based on study that came out in 2000 that said maternal grandparents usually have a closer relationship to their grandkids, and basically it boils down to the fact that women are the gatekeepers for their family, so paternal grandparents often end up getting less access.

Is this true for your kids and their relationship to each side? WHy or why not? What about when you were growing up--were you closer to one side of grandparents than another?
