Due to the unseasonably warm spring we had a lot of farms are unable to offer u-pick for apples this year.
Making me a little sad because I was going to take M this year!
Is it available in your area this year?

@regberadaisy: WHAT?!?! Apple picking is what I lived for in upstate NY! That is so sad.

@betsyboop: haha - I know! My co-worker was just telling me how one of the farms does all these extra things to make apple picking more fun! Homemade doughnuts and they have a brewery on site, etc.
Oh well, next year M will be able to enjoy it more any way.

@regberadaisy: True, not like I would have taken LO apple picking this year anyway but it's still sad. Well, we still have fresh apple cider to look forward to!

We go apple picking and pumpkin hunting the second weekend in October, and it is SOOOOOOO much fun! There's an area near us that has a ton of farms (seriously, like 30+), plus wineries, breweries, etc...
Our favorite orchard has u-pick apples, pony rides, a fishing pond, tons of food stands, crafters, a train ride, apple wine/apple beer, and a bunch of other stuff. Then, we go down the street to a pumpkin patch and pick our pumpkins right off the vine. It's one of my very favorite things about fall!

I actually just got an email from the orchard we usually go to saying apple picking would be limited this year due to a early spring freeze and hail storm! I'm in NJ. At least the pumpkin crop is still good!

I went two weekends ago in the Berkshires--their apples came early and they are encouraging people to pick early so as not to lose the whole crop!

I've never even seen an apple orchard. Apples don't grow in Florida. We're more the citrus/berry picking types.
I love seeing pictures of LO's in orchards. They seem so much prettier than our orange groves.

Yes, I'm in Central PA and our apple crop is great this year.
I was just reading a story about the Little League World Series and this mom from the San Antonio team was so psyched to see apple trees. SHe had never seen one before.

hmm I don't know how the orchards up here did (northern RI). I'll have to look into that.
at the very least, we'll go choose a pumpkin and grab cider and maple candy!
