We actually don't have one. We removed it when we bought our house.

No. There is one, but the previous owner was a tinkerer, and we have no clue where the wiring is or how to reconnect it all.

Actually ours is broken. The bell easily gets stuck and an annoying buzz sound ensues for a long time. We I have to press the bell again to get it unstuck. I wish people would just knock.

Yepp! We don't get many deliveries though and most people who come over dont ring.. Just call or text ahead and walk in (mom, sister, FIL etc.).

It doesnt work!!
But i also have a tacky sign on the door asking people to please not knock because baby is sleeping.
When people knock, the dog freaks out.

On days I'm expecting deliveries I just put a sign on our door that says something like "sleeping baby, please don't knock or ring doorbell" and that's always worked

Yes but no one uses it. Our delivery guy must have kids because he's always just left them outside our door thank god
pomegranate / 3983 posts
Yes and the delivery guy rang it today and woke up the baby...ahhh!

Yep. We replaced the front door after buying the house. The handy man cut the line when taking the old frame out. We didn't, nor him, knew till the new door was in place. They bought us a wireless one to replace it.

Ours works but we have a sign over it that says not to ring it. I've learned that a lot of people think they need to ring it multiple times. Don't they know that I have a toddler they could wake?

@Sweet T: why do people do this?!
We are unhooking ours and getting a sign. Lots of solicitors come through our neighborhood and our neighbors drop by unannounced a lot.

sometimes yes, sometimes no. I think the batteries are starting to die, so we need to replace them.

It broke but dh fixed it. Personally I was happy with it broken .

Yep. We've trained our dogs not to bark at it. Well, DH did.

@Smurfette: my old place didn't have a doorbell, so i put up one of those wireless ones.... it went off every time the guy next door used his garage door opener, doh! hope you have better luck with yours =)
we have a buzzer/intercom, couldn't disconnect it if we wanted to.

Yes, but I hate when people ring it because it's loud and annoying, haha.

It works but most people don't push it hard enough. I have to keep pressing until I can hear it from the outside. Most delivery people don't ring the doorbell and just leave packages out in front. I don't like solicitors though. They always ring the doorbell.

Nope, the house we rent has one but broken, which I dont mind because the only time it would be used would really be packages!
