My mom can be chatty, but my dad is quiet. We are a pretty quiet family in general.
You? What about your SO?

My family is sooooooo loud! Sometimes I have to stay away if I have a migraine. Dhs mom is chatty, but his dad is quiet.

I wouldn't say we are chatty, but every family get together we are all laughing so hard we cry. We have some clowns in the family. We all talk a lot I guess.
DH's family sees eachother once a year and they all get drunk and pass out. Not a lot of chatting going on there.

My mom had 4 sisters so everyone sits around talking, mainly gossip. My dads side isn't, my MIL's side isn't, but get my FIls side together and you can barely hear yourself think. They're huge talkers!

We are SO chatty. Drives DH up a wall. I have 2 sisters - we all talked before 10 months old and haven't shut up since. My Mom is bad too!
DH played a game last year over 4th of July weekend at my cottage to see how high he could count before one of us spoke - he said he never broke 30. We're pretty bad about talking just for the sake of talking!

My MIL can be in a room full of people and still out-chat them all. She talks a LOT.

We are a bunch of NY Jews. We are super chatty. It was a big change of pace falling in love with a Cowboy from West Texas. His family is perfectly content sitting together quietly , while I freak out and attempt to make conversation constantly

Good grief yes! Door holders too. As in, we will stand at the door holding it open on the way to the car talking for a half an hour. Big difference going to spend a weekend with DH's family. Soooooo quiet. It's spooky.

My family's definitely chatty. My in-laws not so much. Let's just say the first few visits at their house was an exercise in meditation. I would literally have to sit and look outside the window and stare at a tree because no one was really talking.

My family for sure. When we all get together (aunts, uncles, cousins) it is so loud but I love it. In-laws not so much. I am getting use to it now but it is just so different then what I am use too.

I'm not super chatty but I can be. My husband and his entire family is super chatty and loud. My MIL can talk all day all night if I talked to her for that long. LOL! I like some quiet time. Helps me relax.

My mom and my little brother are super chatty. My brother usually calls me on his way home from work 2 or 3 times a week and we talk for about an hour! My dad is pretty quiet by comparison but he still likes to talk (to people he likes lol.) I'm somewhere in the middle - I can definitely get going but sometimes I just like to be quiet. My husband is just like my dad.

No, and that is probably the reason DH's family annoys me so much. They all SCREAM everything they say, and talk over eachother, have 8 conversations going in one room at the same time and I cannot.handle.it.
My family is quiet, if one person is talking everyone else stops talking and listens, then speaks one at a time. I'm that way too.

Yes, my family is chatty. His family is much quieter.

We are very chatty I have 2 sisters and a very talkative mom! My dad used to raise his hand in the car when he wanted to contribute to the conversation lol

My family is soooo loud. Not only do we talk a lot, but we have really loud voices. DH's family is really quiet, so it was a huge change for him to be around such a loud family.

Extremely chatty. Both my DH and I come from pretty loud, outgoing, and physically affectionate families. Even my extended family is chatty....at our Christmas (Boxing Day) gathering, we have over 100 people there and everyone is trying to talk over everyone else. It sounds like grand central station!

My family is really loud. I have two little brothers and a little sister who all LOVE to talk and just make noise in general. Enter my nearly-one year old nephew who basically came into this world squealing and we have a circus!!
I like to talk and as does my mom, but we don't dominate conversations.
DH is really quiet, he only talks when spoken to generally. However his family is pretty loud - his mom never stops talking, and his soon to be BIL is really loud too lol. And his nephews.

Only chatty when we are all home, which is at Christmas and other family gathering events.
My sister is a big talker. She can talk your ear off. Everyone else is fairly quiet.
My dad can be loud.

My dad grew up with a wife and 3 daughters, he doesn't say much, I think he just learned to listen or tune us out! The rest of us never shut up, especially my youngest sister she would talk to a wall if she thought it was listening to her And now with 3 granddaughters (and a 4th on the way) I have a feeling dad will continue to keep quiet or sneak outside with his SILs for some hutning/fishing talk.
DH's family is the opposite, his dad is very vocal and loud and his mom is more quiet, although she has opinions and she will say them! His family dinners are always very entertaining with all of us around the table!

My whole family is chatty. If I really need to know something, I just text them because every phone conversation ends up taking an hour at least!

@Grace: haha this is us too...DH makes me start my goodbyes about a half an hour early...
