Ours has a long list of projects we would like to get done, but I think it's cute and functional for now. We are replacing the windows in a few weeks and in the future we would like to renovate the kitchen, new roof, siding and some small upgrades like light fixtures in the bedrooms.

Yep! It was the only way to get into our desired neighbourhood. It's functional for sure though. We'll do things slowly over time.

It was. We pretty much had to gut it down to the frame and start over. Just finished the entire house recently! Now we are talking about moving...of course

It's functional, as you say. We've lived here for a year but it's very much a fixer up. A quick short list of 'need to do' without any 'want to change' would be:
Front porch tear down and rebuild
Rewiring of some components/breaker box fixed
Filling in old wall heater space (requires someone who works in plaster)
Air conditioning/heating unit for upstairs
New roof -
Not really, it's under 20 years old. We've done some cosmetic upgrades like new paint, hardware in the kitchen and new counters.

The previous owners did a ton of renos prior to selling:
-new kitchen
-2 new washrooms on upper level
-finished basement including a really nice full bath
-new roof
-new hardwood floors and baseboards on main levelWhen we moved in we built a brand new deck in the backyard. We have grand dreams of redoing the front of our house (it has no curb appeal) and our master bedroom and ensuite, but otherwise, it's perfectly functional and updated.

Only a little. We had to get a new ac/heat unit and new kitchen appliances, but other than that the previous owners did a lot of the work.

Yes. It was built in 84 and never updated on the inside.

Mmmm there's nothing that 'has' to be done, but lots of things I 'want' to be done. Most of it is just preference.. I hate all the lighting fixtures and flooring. I'd like to update the bathrooms and we're working on fixing the backyard.

Yes, it was! The only big thing we have left to do is upgrade the electrical to 200 amp service. There are a few other smaller things, like refinishing the bedroom floors, but we have most the major things done.

Kind of? It was built about 25 years ago, and needs new windows, new roof, new furnace, and a complete remodel of the master bathroom. However, none of these things are causing us problems right now (other than the windows are drafty, which raises our gas/electric bills).

No, we would like to remodel some areas, but I wouldn't call our house a fixer upper.

Oh yes! We are in the middle of the kitchen renovations now. It ended up having to be a total gut because of the way the original kitchen was installed. And some areas of the house have hardwood under linoleum under hardwood that had carpet installed over it..!! I swear every room has a tiny ramp up into it because each room has a different number of flooring layers on the floor.
Our list of to dos keeps growing because every time a professional looks at our house something else is revealed that's not up to today's codes. Electrical, insulation, plumbing.. Every single thing needs to be completely overhauled. We've already switched from oil to gas, we're in the process of changing out all the electrical to this year's code, and we're getting insulation blown in because we only have an inch when now you're supposed to have 4. And that's just the stuff that NEEDS to be done (oh yes we need new gutters too).
But it's an amazing house in our dream town so we're excited to be doing all the fixing upping
it's been TOUGH with two small kids... But it'll all be worth it in the end!

Id probably classify it as such, but it's livable. It was built in 1948. It was my FILs house that we inherited and he did next to no maintenance in addition to being something akin to a hoarder.
-gut remodel the original, pink kitchen, including new appliances
-gut remodel the original, also pink bathroom
-refinish the hardwoods in the whole house (they are badly stained and worn)
-new back porch
-add roof to front porch
-remodel 70s den addition (paint paneling, new floors, fix hole in the wall from tearing out built-ins)
-new driveway
-new garage door
-remodel 70s finished basement (fake tudor and red/gold flocked wallpaper!)
-add crown moulding in bedrooms and hallway
-LOTS of landscaping
-add 1/2 bath to finished basementThe long game would be doing a whole master suite addition to upgrade it to a 3 bed/2(.5) bath and adding a second garage stall. The garage is under the house, so we'd double the garage and build the master on top.

No; it's new and we reno'd to our likely a little before moving in. BUT- we went to Home Depot tonight to get some pool supplies and OMG. That place makes you hate your house. I went down every aisle and told DH I want a new house

It's more of a needs updating than fixer upper. It was totally move in ready when we bought it, there is just a ton of stuff that needs to be updated to bring it to the 2000s...

Nope, we built new about six years ago.
We plan to buy a bigger home in the next year or two though and whatever we buy will likely need some work based on our budget and the neighbourhood we want to move into.
it's been TOUGH with two small kids... But it'll all be worth it in the end!
