I am not sadly... I am not very good at dealing with the physical world. I am pretty handy at fixing up websites though!
Mrs. Bee is pretty handy though!
Is your SO handy around the house?

Yes, he's very handy. Which is weird for me because my dad doesn't do any of that. They call someone to come fix anything and everything. Imagine my surprise when one day I come home to DH changing out the sink fixtures.

He's semi-handy. He likes to fix things and such but I'd much rather pay someone to do it correctly and quickly.

Extremely. If something needs fixing around the house we almost always fix it ourselves. If we don't have the necessary tools we'd rather invest in buying them than paying someone else to come. We are lucky that one of our best friends is a carpenter and general handy man so he comes and helps out when we need it. But just today hubs was replacing some quarter round in the kitchen. A man with a miter saw and a nail gun is sexy!

Yup. DH can fix or build pretty much anything. Saves lots of money!

He is! Luckily we haven't had too many huge problems with our house though.

Not even a little bit I have to help him assemble stuff from Ikea, I'd never be able to trust him with a power tool! He means well & has the desire to fix things, but it's just not a strength for him. Fortunately he is good at lots of other things:)

Yep. He was raised by two handy women who made sure to teach him how to do a lot.

Yes! He's incredibly handy around the house and with vehicles too. Anything he can't do he calls my dad and they can fix it together. It was a trait I expected in my husband since my dad is a general contractor and can pretty much fix anything.

He sure is! He just installed all new
Ought fixtures in our living and dining areas, and the weekend prior to that he did oil changes on both our cars. It's very helpful, he can di anything from hanging pictures to tiling floors!

I wish :T Once he's learned how to do something he's very good at it (and figuring out better ways to do things) but he's not naturally a handyman. Strange since he grew up with a dad who was a general contractor... but that's like someone who grows up with a parent who is an amazing cook-- usually since the parent is doing all the cooking, you never really learn how to do it yourself!

Nope. I'm more handy than he is. I put all of our Ikea furniture together. We both can hang pictures but if something is crooked or broken, I'll be the one who figures out how to fix it. Well, to an extent. I don't do cars or electrical problems. I have this fear of being electrocuted. Haha.

He's SUPER handy and I super love him for it. I'm handy, too, just not as handy as him. The great thing is that we've been able to save a ton of money because of all that we've been able to DIY around our house.

Wasn't but now that we have a house and a great teacher (aka my next door neighbour) he's learned how to do basic lighting, installing custom bookshelves, proper way to paint, prepping the pool etc. he actually likes doing stuff around the house and wants to renovate everything!!!

He's pretty handy, mostly with outdoor stuff, though. If he has someone helping him who seems to know what he's doing, he can do a lot inside. He did wire and hang under cabinet lighting with his dad's help, which I am so grateful for.

He tries to be! The other day he was working on the trimmings in the baby room and I heard curses I've never ever heard before! While he was nailing them back on, the new paint (he spent hours doing) started to chip. Poor guy was so hard on himself, he was pouty all night.
But to his credit, he's great with gardening and enjoys it so I never have to remind him. It's just the inside details that normally take awhile for him to tackle.

Extremely. I don't know what we would do if he wasn't. There are so many things to do when you have a house. It would be way too expensive to pay someone for these things. We only call someone as a last resort or for major things like roofing, cutting down large trees, furnace and a/c repairs, etc.

He's pretty handy. Though he's a bit of a city boy, so he will only go so far in DIY before he hires pros to save himself the time and trouble.
I'm probably handier in that I am more willing to DIY bigger projects. My dad works in construction and taught me a lot.

I would say semi-handy. He always tries to fix things himself, but he tends to get very frustrated when it comes to household issues. Eventually he gets it, but sometimes I think it would be cheaper to call someone then him going to Menards 3-4 times to eventually get the right part.

Sigh. Not really. He's handy at calling other people to do stuff!
honeydew / 7916 posts
Very! I think he watches his vendors at work and then learns it all to do at home. It worries me a little!
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
Extremely! He's practically doing our gut renovation himself. Whatever he doesn't know like HVAC and electrical he has family that does.
@MamaMoose: Totally agrees! Love that tool belt!
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
Yes - very! But he's pretty much good at everything, except loading the dishwasher and folding clothes (not that those are *handy* things).
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
He tries to be handy, but it's not really his thing. He can do basic things like paint, hang pictures, etc.

DH is super handy and I love it! He can do pretty much anything and it's been great since we bought our house 2 years ago. He just finished the crown moulding in our kitchen and I'm so excited!
The only thing he isn't great at is spackling, and I happen to do that really well so we make it work!
I'm not sure I could have been married to someone that isn't handy (no offense Mr. Bee!) My dad and brothers are all so handy that I sort of expected it in a husband lol. My dad built my childhood home!
