@stargal: LO switched to a toddler bed at 20 months. It was a very smooth transition and transfers are so much better now! But we both felt she was absolutely ready to switch.

Yes, she is 2. I don't want to convert it because we might need the crib for a future LO. We plan in moving her to a bed soon!

My girls have both had floor beds after about age 1.

We buy convertible cribs so I had to buy a new one for #2 anyway.

We left DS in the crib until 3 when he started climbing out! He was also a very active sleeper and fell out of the bed several times in the 1st few weeks! We just used the mattress (no box spring) so he didn't have far to fall!

DD will be 3 in a few weeks and we just moved her - 1st night was a mess but the last 2 have been easy!

I say keep them in the crib as long as you can

Shes been in a floor bed since 16ish months. We had a phase where she would crawl out of bed at night and fall asleep on the floor by her bedroom door. Once we got our new video monitor set up (with the two way radio) 2 nights of telling her to 'stay in bed' over the monitor and she's back to staying in bed all night long.

Yes. But as I type this, she's napping in our bed. Had an appointment this morning + she's going through bottle withdrawl so she's napping late.

I honestly don't think she's ready at almost 19 months. But she's managing fine right now. Hmmm.

@locavore_mama: DH and I cracked up doing it too! We sat on the couch with the screen, she would sit up and then as soon as we'd say "E, it's bed time, lay down and stay in bed" she'd flop right down and look around trying to figure out how we knew. We were laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes.

My LO is 19 months and I plan on keeping him in a crib until he crawls out or we overnight potty train. We bought a convertible crib so no need to move him.

Yes, he just turned 2 and is still happy in his crib- no interest in escaping yet. We have #2 due in March, and will just set up the pack and play (I refuse to buy a second crib at this point) and work on the switch to toddler bed after a couple of months- I figure I'll be sleep deprived enough as it is by then and we won't have any more family staying over. He takes occasional naps in the toddler bed and plays in his new room, so it's familiar and fun to him.

charlie transitioned at 26 months when he could climb out in his sleep sack. olive is still in her crib at 26 months. i doubt she will try to climb out for a long time so i plan to keep here in there until she's 3!

We're at 21 months and no plans to switch him anytime soon. He has crawled out of his crib once, but anytime he tries we just yell down the hallway for him to knock it off and he lays back down. I do think he's getting closer to being ok with a twin bed, but not quite yet.

My daughter moved into a floor bed at 8 months. I feel so lucky that I don't have to do a big transition now.

My 21 month old is still in his crib, even with baby #2 coming next month, I plan on keeping him in his crib until he tries to climb out, hasn't happened yet! It's a convertible crib so we won't have to buy him another bed when the time comes.

19 months and still in her crib. Hoping to keep her in there for a while!

Almost 22 months and he is still in a crib. I don't know when we will transition. He is getting pretty heavy and it is hard for me to get him in and out.

We didn't transition DS until he was about 33 months! He never tried to climb out of the crib and slept so well in it that we didn't think it was necessary to change anything. We probably could have kept him in the crib longer, but DD arrived just before DS turned 3, so we needed the crib for her. DS's transition went very smoothly. If it is working for you, I wouldn't transition until you need to.

We moved Little Boy to a twin mattress on the floor at 19 months. We had lots of pillows all around, but after the first week he didn't fall off anymore. And we only keep limited toys in the bedroom, mostly just books, so playing isn't an issue. I loved that it gave him some more independence.

W has been in a toddler bed since 18 months. I hurt my back when I was 20 weeks pregnant and was physically unable to get him in and out of the crib so it was necessary.

The first few nights were rough, but he did fine overall!

Yes, she's 19 months but we'll be transitioning to a toddler bed in 3ish months...baby #3 will be here in 5 months so I want to transition her before the baby comes but give her enough time that there aren't too many changes happening at once.

At 20 months we are still in a crib, and will be for a long time! He doesn't seem ready for a toddler bed at all!
