My LO is 19 weeks and rolled over for the first time Saturday. She's had 2 accidental roll-overs when she was laying newar us and rolled towards us, but Saturday was the first back-to-front, did-it-myself rollover. I was telling my sister about it and all I get is "Isn't that late? Is she behind? Shouldn't she already have done that?" Thanks for being happy for me, Sis. 
And it's unusual for babies to start with back-to-front, which is typically a 5-6 month milestone.
Sorry - it's a vent.

P was "late" with alot of milestones! I tried not to share too much & just keep my eyes on her progression. As long as she IS progressing I'm fine....
So awesome that little A is starting to roll on her own! Pretty sure you won't be able to keep up! *exciting*

Grrrrrr that would make me angry! DD also rolled back to front first (she loooved being on her tummy) but it wasn't until around when yours did. She didn't roll tummy to back until she was like 6 months lol

C didnt roll either way until 6 months. She rolled back to front first.

DS rolled back to front first as well and was super early...He started rolling over at 6 weeks and for him it was a survival mechanism for dealing with his reflux pain, so I hate to even mention it as a milestone to people because I honestly don't think it is a true measure of when a baby realistically rolls over.

Yay A, that's awesome! That was mean of your sister, she sounds bang on target to me. My A hasn't rolled either way yet (unless you count her accidentally falling and rolling whil,e trying to crawl) but she's done other stuff so we're not worried at all.

I found a site that says that most babies start rolling around 4-5 months with back-to-front coming later. So I copied the info and emailed it to her.

Boooooo!! I love milestones and am totally one of those people that finds it interesting to see how it all happens at different times. BUT, I would never in a million years suggest that a baby is "late" (mainly becausd I don't think "late"/"early" is a thing) and besides that, 19 weeks is right on "time"!

Yay for rolling over! Ha, I wonder what she would think of my LO who just rolled back to front last week. She is 8 months. All babies go at their own pace and hit milestones at different times, some coming before others.

That is disappointing that she reacted like that. My LO started rolling back to front at 19 weeks too. I remember being so excited! Yay for rolling over!

People and their milestone bs, it makes me crazy. I love to compare and contrast because I find it so interesting, but people are so used to being badgered about it that often they just don't want to talk about it.
My daughter was really ahead verbally and really slow physically, so I got a lot of 'oh, she isn't walking yet . . . . . ?' at 14, 15 months. I'd just remind people that the normal range was to 17 months, but I still got a lot of people suggesting that I go in for early intervention screening, just because! It can't hurt! So annoying.
