I am 5 days post-op from my Mirena surgery......

(see here for full drama story: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/why-you-should-always-follow-your-gut)

Has anyone had a similar surgery? I know (hope!) no one has to experience the insanity of a migrated IUD, but similiar surgery in terms of two small incisions!! I got all the paperwork for a tubal ligation (except with the tubes tied part taken out, ha!) I have a horizontal incision about an inch wide at my belly button, and another about 4 inches down and to the right a little. The paperwork says two days before resuming normal activities, I am not even close to normal! I am not taking pain meds any longer, but am still realllly sore.

I spoke with the doctor that removed it on Friday and he said they did find it embedded in the fatty later of my abdominal wall, easy to find once they got in there, he pulled the strings to collapse it, grabbed it and then out it came.

He wants to see me 6w post-op to talk fertility. His concern is that this likely went through upon insertion (in December) and why didn't I get pregnant/have an "oops". My original thought was why wouldn't the hormone/coating on the IUD have still absorbed/prevented, he says no. December to March I had periods every other week or so, then March to June 10th (LMP) I had a 28 day cycle, then it began shortening 1-3 days each cycle (down to 21 days) and with everything that's happened since June 10th (learning the IUD had migrated and all the hands so to speak that went in me, cycle has disappeared). So he thinks my wonky cycles are the culprit.

Any thoughts? We are "all clear" to try again, and I hope there won't be issues, but he seems to predict there will be, lovely.
