DH and I just heard rumors of the first one in our "circle..." SO crazy (and awful/sad).

Sad.

I don't know anyone who is going through the big D or even thinking about it.

All of my friends are just now starting to get married. No divorces in our social circle yet. It's hard to imagine it happening, but I know statistically divorces are so common.

Not yet but several of us (including myself) are having enough issues that we are seeking professional help to get us back on track so the D-word doesn't become part of the equation.

A friend of mine divorced last year. She told me after she was divorced when I was asking how her hubby was. That was a magnifying glass as to the state of our friendship. Eek! But, back to her-all good, happy, blessed not stressed! Now, to me- wait, what happened to for better or worse?!

DH was in the wedding of a couple who married young and broke up a year or two before I ever met his friend. Everyone else-married or long term- is still together.

SIL and her husband are in their last month of separation before they can divorce, it was much needed. They got married in 2009.

I was the first out of my circle of gfs, so we haven't hit it on my side yet. DH's side is a split 50/50 mix of those married 5+ years, and those just starting to settle down. There's one couple who had a bump a few yrs back, but they're greater than ever before.

I predict in the next five years or so is when our wave will come through, just with the timing of those getting married in our circle.

I'm still pretty young (22) so my circle is still marrying. DH's best friend married in 2010 and divorced 6 months later because his wife was cheating on him. But that was a "special" circumstance.

I'm on my second marriage...I actually don't know anyone else close to me that has gone through it.

So far, I can only think of 2 couples that are friends (and I'm in my early 30s). The first wasn't surprising (yet still sad), and the second was a shock. Unfortunately it was due to domestic violence I'm very glad she left and is much happier now.

Yep, we just had our first 2 in our group of friends. One I was a bridesmaid in (I'm not really shocked as they were more friends than lovers) and the other is for hte best as the husband I feel is emotionally abusive and just a prick (has been since high school.)

It's hard, DH and I talk about relationship stuff all the time, we never threaten divorce & just have a good overall communication about stuff.

I have a friend who is divorced and has been for years already. He and his wife got married very young.

Only a few of our circle are even married, so he's the only one.

Yeah, a few in my circle. I was really shocked at some of them. I never felt old when all of my friends started marrying and having babies. But now that some of us are divorcing and getting cancer, now I'm starting to feel old.

My BF got a divorce a couple of years ago. I was friends with both of them from beginning to end of the relationship so it was pretty sad, but she was unhappy and much better off now.

My sister is going through a divorce now. They have 3 kids, 5 and under so its very sad. He is a complete lunatic/sociopath so it's for the best, but the divorce is not pretty. I feel so sorry for my nephews caught on the middle

So far no divorces in our circle of friends/family.

Yup, it's happened. It's the circle of life.

And those who think "oh, none of MY friends will EVER get divorced," might be unpleasantly surprised, particularly if your friends got married very young. People change, they make bad decisions... Not everyone handles life transitions in a "we will work through this together because we made a VOW!" Type of way. It's awful, and you hope it never happens, especially to your friends, but lets be realistic here... You don't know the inner workings of other people's relationships.

Luckily none here. I am hopeful that our group will beat the odds - and some stats help us like college+ education, late 20s at marriage, etc.

Yeah, sadly. 2009 marriage, 2011 split. Both parties were our friends but the wife, my former friend, was the one to leave. It's very disappointing to everyone.

We're young to be married / having kids so most of our friends are just now getting married. We do have some older couple friends that we have met after they got married. I don't want to think about any of them getting divorced! Perhaps it's naive but I can't think of any of them that won't make it.
