@LittleGBee: Everyone likes the Baby Bjorns -- they make both a potty chair and a seat. Another good pick for a seat is the Prince Lionheart weePOD (it's softer), and the Fisher-Price Froggy Potty is really cheap but everyone seems to like it.
It's harder to go wrong with a girl -- easier for them to direct things where they need to go, if you know what I mean!
