I just had my first IUI done yesterday and was curious to hear from those who've done it before (both those that worked and didn't) answers to these three things:
1) what was/were the size of your follicle(s)?
2) what day did you trigger and what day did you IUI?
3) did it work?
For me,
1) 19, 16.5 and 15 (with two others at 12 & 11) on cd 12
2) triggered that day (cd 12) and IUI'd the early afternoon of cd 14
3) Waiting to find out....

I was on Clomid and did not do a trigger shot for my IUI though I had the Ovidrel just in case. I had two follicles that were 23.5 and 18.5 and lots of smaller ones. We had an IUI on 7/24 and another one on 7/25. I had already ovulated one follicle on 7/24 so we chose to do another IUI on 7/25 for the second follicle.
I started the Clomid in the middle of a long cycle so I don't remember what the cycle days were.
Unfortunately my DH's post wash numbers were not very good so IUI did not work for us. Best of luck to you!!

Actually I just checked Fertility Friend. I took Clomid cycle days 55-59 and my IUIs were done on cycle days 69 and 70.

I am on round three of IUI. For all of them I am on Femara for days 3 through 6 and then an HGC trigger shot the day that I get a positive OPK.
Round 1
1. I didn't ask about follicle size. I had a saline sonogram on CD 9 and she measured the follicles then. I was in so much pain that I didn't ask!
2. I triggered on CD 13 and had the IUI on CD 14.
3. Nope
Round 2
1. 22 on CD 9. I went in for a follicle scan and we were surprised with the size!
2. Triggered on CD 9 and had the IUI on CD 10.
3. Nope
Round 3
1. I had a follicle scan yesterday on CD 10 and had 3 follicles at 12 each. I go in for another scan on Saturday if I don't get a positive OPK first.
2. Not sure yet. Probably Sunday or Monday.
3. Hopefully! 3rd time's a charm, right?!?!

Um, yikes...I triggered today and they are: 22, 18.5, 17.5, 15, 15 (with a 14.5 and 11). Yikes is all I can say.

@Spaniellove Those follie numbers sound very similar to mine so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some good news in 10-14 days! Will you take progesterone after the IUI? And are you doing 1 or 2? Good luck!!

@spaniellove: omg spaniellove! Huge follicles! Makes sense you got so many since its a trial for ivf. Did your doctors say anything about canceling iui due to so many? My dr won't even trigger if you have more than 3 good size follicles due to the risk of extreme multiples. I think your odds are amazing this month. Way better than mine. 
When do you iui? Sat or Sun?

@marionberry: All he said was they were afraid I wouldn't respond to the meds because of my situation but "clearly youth is on your side". I don't know if they'd even try canceling on me again since I'd already fought them last time they tried! We also have that male factor issue so maybe they figure we should stack the odds as much as possible. I don't even need it to work...it's just such a relief to know that the meds work fine for me in smaller doses.
@Trailmix: I'm only doing one...did you do two? I'm taking Endometrin, which I think is supposed to be messy but I'll take that over more shots, right?

@Spaniellove We only did one as well, my RE said there's been no proof that doing two increases your chances. They did tell us to BD the night and morning after the IUI but we don't have male factor so not sure if your instructions will be the same...I was on Endometrin as well and it wasn't too terrible, I did wear a liner but it was maneagable. It mostly sucked because I would freak out every time something leaked out bc I was convinced it would be AF but turns out its rare for that to happen while on progesterone so save yourself some unnecessary stress, haha...I am really excited for you! Even if this IUI isn't successful, this shows that you will definitely have lots of good eggs to collect during an IVF cycle, if it comes to that!

@spaniellove: did you have any reason to suggest you needed the progesterone supplements? Or is this all part of the IVF protocol? My doctor didn't give me anything for the 2nd half. I'm finding my progesterone must not have really kicked in yet, as I do not have my usual sore boobs...but my temp keeps going up which is good.

@marionberry: It's just the clinic's protocol for IUI w/ injectibles. No idea if I need it, but I'll take it! I wasn't really on a whole IVF protocol/dosage, just an injectibles cycle to test my response. Your chart is looking good! Hope those temps keep going up!

The last my follies measured were 22 and 17 with maybe a couple 15's or 13's, honestly I was so shocked to hear I had a 22 I kind of spaced out after hearing that. No trigger shot for me, I got a positive on a cheapie ok that night (recommended by my dr since the digital kept giving me error messages) so I went in for my iui the next day. It was late in my cycle, around day 20 but I had a step up with clomid mid cycle which dragged it out.
And yes thankfully it worked! I got my first faint line on 8dpo and by 11dpo it was pretty dark and very obvious. Good luck!! When do you test?

My dr gave me femera to take on day 3-7. At my ultrasound, I don't think my doctor gave me sizes of my follicles but she did say there was two mature follicles and maybe a third. She said my lining looked great.
I had my ultrasound on day 14 and triggered the next day with HSG.
My DH numbers looked good. So it seemed very promising.
Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. Onto my second IUI cycle.

@Modern Daisy: my doctor is having me come in for a blood test on 12dpiui which is January 7th. I'm going to try to abstain from testing until then.

We did two rounds of Follistim and IUI.
First round:
1. One follicle, 20mm
2. Triggered on CD11, IUI on CD12 (about 24 hrs apart)
3. BFN
Second round:
1. Three follicles, one 18mm, two 17mm (plus two 14mm, which is why we triggered when we did. We didn't want those two others to be mature enough!)
2. Triggered CD12, IUI CD13 (24 hrs apart, again)
3. BFP at 9DPO!

@BabyBunny: What great news! I had a similar situation with multiple follies. I'm hoping it worked out for me too. I was stupid enough to chart temps during the TWW and they're super wacky, so it has me pretty sure I may not be getting lucky until try #2 like you. Thanks for sharing.

We're waiting for our first appt with our RE and I'm thinking IUI will probably our next step. I'll be referring back to this post for sure!

1) I had 2 follicles - 20 and 27, measured on CD12
2) Due to the size of the follicles and my LH and Estrogen levels, I triggered on CD12 and had the IUI on CD13
3) My first IUI was not successful.
I'm gearing up for round 2. We're going to monitor me earlier in the cycle, because CD12 turned out to be too late. I may have already ovulated. How was I to know that I would respond well to Clomid? I guess this is why they say your odds increase after each IUI. You learn more about your body every time.
I still think it will be a miracle when I get pregnant...on to #2! If my period will ever show up...damn progesterone.
