Oh my goodness... no not American!! I worked with a lot of international people when I worked in NYC and it drove me bonkers when the Americans would pick up their use of "cheers". But I will say there is no one American word that can replace all the uses of "cheers". It means hello, goodbye, thank you, well done...when I was living in London I even had someone say "cheers" to me after I sneezed!

Keep saying it! Ha hahaha.

I used to live next to a Kiwi and picked up saying "cheers". Even after I moved, I'd consciously try not to say it but I'd still find myself signing emails Cheers!

It took awhile to stop but no one thought it was weird (at least no one admitted to it) but I knew I had to stop, especially since no one says it where I'm at now!

I used to live in London so I think I have a right to use Cheers.
And it's not weird since I still email so many people all over the world for work.

Haha I guess I don't hear it enough here in the midwest, the only time I hear "cheers" is followed by the clinging of glasses!

I wouldn't mind it.

My husband had a phrase he used to use too much when talking with clients on the phone (I can't even remember what it was now), so I had him wear a rubberband on his wrist and he snapped it if he caught himself saying it.

People said it alot in Seattle and the Bay Area. I think you're good... just keep on keeping on with it unless it's bugging you!
