@jaguar: I hope you are hanging in there okay. A beta of 51 is still a positive beta!
@endymion4: Some girls have a blood test one week after their transfers. I had to wait two weeks also. It sucked! I hope you can keep yourself distracted.
@Hopingforbaby: Hi lady! So don't stress too much about the intramuscular shots. But I understand if you do. I was terribly freaked out about starting intramuscular injections. But to be honest, they aren't that bad. Hopefully you have someone to do them for you. But I just ice for a while, have my husband do the shot and then massage the spot for a few minutes to prevent clumps. Its not horrible at all. I even had to do one such shot quickly on Friday night and did it without icing first. I survived. Check out this thread I started to ask for help on instramuscular shots:

@NorthStar: Thanks for laughing! I meant it mostly funny. I'm so sorry you had to deal with your dumb client's response. Did you feel like laughing or crying out of frustration?
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@GreenThumb: Yay for starting your meds!
@jaguar: Ummm.. you have a blog? I didn't know. Can I follow it?
pear / 1881 posts
@agold: It was a more like 'what the heck did she just say?!'. My husband's response was on par with what I was thinking and am glad to know that I wasn't the only one that thought that it was out of line!
persimmon / 1132 posts
@jaguar: Oh, lordy. I'm keeping everything crossed. Grow, embie, grow!
@NorthStar: You definitely aren't alone in thinking she was out of line. Sorry that happened, but good for you for just being direct about what's going on. Maybe if more people were more straightforward about it, it would counter all of the people who magically get pregnant in one or two month.
I have to go back to the RE tomorrow. Major pain in my ovary again this morning ... I'm so worried that it's twisting and ... gulp ... that it will get so bad they'll remove it. This led me to thinking, "what's worse than going through IVF and not getting a BFP?" Oh, just losing your junk in the process. I'm trying to not think that way - it just slips out sometimes. Just going to address the issue with getting myself the best care I can... and just bracing myself to not let it drag me down too much....
@Hopingforbaby: ... so I hear you on the depression and anxiety front. I'm a toughy but it's pulling at my heels at the moment. Our situations are very different, yet I can relate with feeling that the process is getting you down. Just trying to focus on the mind-body connection to healing, health and fertility. Negative thoughts don't help our bodies... as hard as they might be to fight off!

@agold: Of course! It's on my HB profile, I think?
Today I've had cramping and a bit of browny discharge, but I also added in Crinone to my nightly/morning pessaries, so the nurses said that can irritate the cervix a bit. Insanely giant boosies though, which could just be the progesterone. I'm feeling sick with worry over this. Preparing for the worst, and hoping for a freakin' miracle.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Amorini: Oh no! I'm so sorry you are feeling so badly. Go get yourself checked out asap. I hope its nothing serious.
@jaguar: I'm so sorry about your cramping and everything else going on. Maybe go to bed early tonight so that tomorrow's blood test can come a little quicker. I'm keeping you in my thoughts (and prayers, if you like that) and hoping for the best for you!

I back from CO! I need to come back and catch up later, but just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on some of my results. I had my day 3's done and some other hormone tests. My AMH was 13 ng/mL. Apparently that is too high and indicative of PCOS? One scan on CD3 had me at 25 antral follicle count. But then another scan (different clinic) says they counted almost 50 on CD9. Does that typically have to be done on any specific day? So the clinic that counted 50 said that was too much and with my high AMH, that "something" was just not normal and this could be the reason for such poor quality eggs and low maturity. And that this condition cannot be fixed to get better quality eggs, and these eggs were just what I was dealt with. I apparently also have low testosterone (8.7 ng/dl), but high DHEA (167 ug/dl)... but they said it was ok, and high testosterone would be a problem, but not low. I need to regroup with the docs in a few weeks, but I'll just be going crazy until then :-\
nectarine / 2433 posts
@PurplePumps: Sorry, lurker poping in... The AFC needs to be done on day 3 so the one on day 9 shouldn't be considered accurate. The AMH number does seem high but I don't know much about that. Have you ever done an estrogen priming protocol to help with egg quality/maturity? I think Spanielove did this and I knoe someone who has a successful fresh round after this same protocol after 2 previous failures
nectarine / 2433 posts
@PurplePumps: Would you consider meeting with an endocrinologist to see if they may have an idea of the underlying hormone "issues"?
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@mrswin: Hi, I wonder why they would bother counting. They specifically requested that the test be done between day 5 and 13. I haven't tried estrogen priming, but I'll look into that and bring it up in my next meetings.
@mrswin: Is that different from an RE?
persimmon / 1132 posts
@PurplePumps: Glad you got your testing done even though it is a little confusing. My AMH is also very high (around 8 ish) but I don't have PCOS. In my case, it means there are lots of potential follicles for stimming, which proved to be accurate on my last round. (And put me at higher risk of hyperstimming...which also happened.) Your AFC is quite high, in any case, unless you are in your 20s (and maybe you are!). I'm not sure what to make of it and don't know enough to say more. Aren't they supposed to tell you or is that happening in a follow-up sometime soon?
Just wanted to update folks on my from time-to-time excruciating ovary pain. I went to the RE for an u/s. The ovaries are calming down but one is still larger (the one that kills sometimes). The RE is thinking that I am having episodic ovarian torsion that is righting itself, at least for the moment. So it twists on itself and then, after I writhe in the floor for sometime, it untwists. Next time it happens (and let's hope it doesn't) I need to go to the ER and demand a doppler u/s to check blood flow to confirm her hunch. Then surgery to untwist it and hopefully save it. Strange that nothing can be done but watchful waiting now. I asked the question 100 different ways, but there is nothing I can do but wait and see. I'm truly and completely bummed...and scared.
pear / 1986 posts
@Amorini: I am incredibly sorry that this is happening to you. I really hope that that ovary continues to shrink and improve on its own and that you do not need any surgery. Are you able to take some time to rest and relax? Maybe a sick day or two is warranted ? Sending a virtual hug your way!
@PurplePumps: Incredible that you are continuing to receive new information about all of this after going through several IVF cycles already. I hope this will give better insight on how to move forward. I never really realized that AMH could be too high - I am also on the higher end for my age, but no PCOS. You haven't had OHSS before, have you? Or just the issues with egg quality/maturity, right? I hope they give you a clearer interpretation when discussing the results. As @mrswin: mentioned, an endocrinologist looks specifically at hormone imbalance, so that might be another avenue to explore, too.
nectarine / 2433 posts
@PurplePumps: Weird, I am not an RE so I will assume that they know more than I do and had good reason for doing it on day 9 and hopefully they can explain why.
An Endocrinologist deals with all the hormones the body produces not just reproductive hormones. There could be something going on which is not directly related to fertility that they might diagnose.
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@Amorini: I WISH I was still in my 20s! My follow up is in 2 weeks. Wow, If they suspect any kind of twisting, can't they just go in and fix it!? Why would they wait and risk losing it? I hope it gets better soon!
@GreenThumb: No OHSS. Ugh, yeah, I'm actually pretty upset with my current clinic at the moment. Hindsight for me, but I feel they should have had more knowledge with experience. They never tested my AMH or AFC, just jumped right into Clomid and IUIs then IVF based on basic day 3 and TSH levels. I feel like they were just doing trial and error on me instead of really trying to think about what might work and trying to get more info on why it wasn't working.
@mrswin: oooh, ok, that makes sense. Yeah, I'll see anyone at this point, just a $40 copay now haha. Gotta hurry to get all this in before the end of the year!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@PurplePumps: I don't have much to add to what any of the other girls have already said. That's all a lot to take in and I'm sorry you are going through so much. If you have PCOS, isn't that a sort of "easy" fix? Like can't you get on metroformin or whatever its called that the PCOS girls on here take? And what will happen between now and when you regroup with the doctors in a few weeks? Do you have to go back to Colorado? Was this your CCRM consultation?
@Amorini: I'm glad you were able to be checked out by your RE. But ouch! I'm so sorry you are having intermittent pain and such worry caused by all of this. I really hope this passes quickly without any lasting problems for you. Try not to be too scared and just hope that this all works out. I'm hoping that you don't have any more pain!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@jaguar: Hi there. I hope you are hanging in there okay. As a side note, I looked at your lovely blog and there is a picture of your little girl and her dog standing on a porch. Is that your driveway in the picture??? Its gorgeous!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
Hey girls - have any of you had any treatments involving silver nitrate? I had it with my endometrial biopsy that was done on Monday and now have some, ummm, questionable discharge that I'm hoping can be explained by the silver nitrate.
pear / 1881 posts
@Amorini: oh my goodness! you think that they would do what they can to help you now, instead of waiting for a 'what if'? I'm really starting to question this RE (I'm sure you are too)..I don't understand why they have to wait until you are in so much pain that you are in the ER before they can look at it. I'm so sorry that you have to go through this!
@jaguar: How are you doing? What time is it there? I'm hoping for the best for you and your next results
@PurplePumps: I'm sorry, but I don't have any insight into those numbers. I cannot help but be frustrated for you that your clinic did not do more testing before having you proceed with the IUIs and IVF (and having you pay for all of these in the process). What if you need some other meds to make it successful for you? You might as well get as much testing and for as many things prior to year-end as you can. good luck
AF showed up today, just in time for my ultrasound tomorrow But, I'm happy to get this show on the road..

@NorthStar: Freaking out. Dark stick last night, faint stick this morning.
I get beta done in an hour, then have to wait til this afternoon for results. UGGGGH!
pear / 1881 posts
@jaguar: but it was like that yesterday too, right? maybe you are one of those who gets darker ones in the afternoon/evening. Hang in there - you will know soon!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@jaguar: The bricks and the slope of the driveway are amazing! Try to breathe during this last hour, and then after while you wait for the call. Will you for sure get a call tonight with the results? Maybe you can go for a little walk with your gorgeous daughter and your beautiful dog later today after the test to get some fresh air and not stress too much while you wait.
@NorthStar: Woo hoo! One of the few times you are happy for AF to show up. So what happens next for you?
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@agold: My regroup with CCRM is not until Dec (on the phone thank goodness so I don't have to pay for another flight, car and hotel again) cause I still have to send them day 3 bloods which wont be for another 3-5 weeks. The regroup in 2 weeks is with another local clinic, the one that ordered all the blood tests and wanted to get to the bottom of why before throwing me into a cycle. He should have a protocol recommendation by then.
pear / 1881 posts
@agold: if all goes well with my ultrasound tomorrow, I start stims on Friday, with a tentative retrieval date sometime between 11/9 - 11/11 and transfer date by 11/16.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@agold: Thank you! I'll take another pic from the front, it's really nice.
We are actually getting a new car today. For years I've lived with my tiny little hatchback, thinking we'd get a bigger car when our family grew. Well, I'm tired of waiting.. and hubby agrees, so we get it this afternoon. SQUEE!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@jaguar: That's quite the distraction! Better than a stroll around the neighborhood! Congrats on the new car. Post a picture of your car and your house when you get a chance!
AFM - my biopsy results came back today and everything looks fine. Now I just need AF to come so I can schedule my FET!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@NorthStar: I'm hoping all goes well with your ultrasound then! How exciting! The time will go by so quickly.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@GreenThumb: @PurplePumps: @agold: @NorthStar: Thanks for your thoughts and support. I know, it's just maddening that doctors just do not have answers and can't help us sometimes. I could tell my RE's wheels were really spinning, but I guess ovarian torsion and this kind of OHSS issue happens so infrequently that there really isn't much they can do. My acupuncturist is giving me a cyst-busting salve ... the cysts are what is making the ovary so enlarged ... so let's hope Chinese medicine comes through where Western just can't.
@jaguar: Fingers crossed so tight for you! Enjoy the new wheels!
@agold: Yay, glad all is well! FET, here you come!
@NorthStar: GL with the u/s tomorrow!

I'm sorry, I forgot to update here.
Not good news, but not definitive, so I have to keep taking all meds and have another blood test after the weekend.
The numbers were from 51 to 81. Progesterone stayed the same. Not doubling. It can't possibly be good. But they won't let me stop the meds until they see a full plateau or a drop in hcg.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@jaguar: Well... the number went up, so that is good. Focus on that and I will keep hoping and praying that it continues to go up!
In other news, did you get a new car?!?!
persimmon / 1132 posts
@jaguar: ugh, I'm so sorry it's not clear one way or another. So hoping Monday comes soon for you.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@agold: YES! I need to get a pic of it properly though! It's lovely!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@jaguar: I know how hard this waiting game is...but don't count yourself out yet! Less than 72hours doubling time is still "normal"! FX!!!!
pear / 1881 posts
@Amorini: Are you feeling any better today? I really hope your ovary decides to calm down some and that your acupuncturist can help you resolve it.
@jaguar: I know that it's hard, but try to keep your hopes up at least a little. I know that it could go either way and that this is so hard for you, considering your history.
What kind of car did you get?! Sometimes, it is nice to have that distraction, even for a few minutes..
Did my menopur this morning, which was kind of confusing and will be doing follistim tonight. I was expecting the menopur to burn more than it did, so that was a nice surprise..
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@jaguar: I'm so glad you got the car. I hope its bringing you some happy distraction. I'm still keeping you in my thoughts. Enjoy your weekend all that you can!
@NorthStar: I'm glad the menopur shot wasn't as bad as you were expecting. How was it confusing? Did you have to mix liquid with a powder to mix it all up? I got used to it after a few days.
@Amorini: How are you feeling today?
pear / 1986 posts
Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween! Here's to hoping for a lot of treats and no tricks for everyone.
pear / 1881 posts
@agold: i had two people tell me to use the whole vial of mixing liquid, but yet, my pharmacy only gave me 1mL syringes (which doesn't hold all of the liquid). Then, I realized that my menopur box said to use 1mL of the liquid. I was just trying too hard to figure it out and it was right in front of me - doh!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@NorthStar: Oh gees.. That really is confusing! I'm glad you figured it out.
@GreenThumb: Bahahahahahaha. Seriously. So funny.
