@NorthStar: Lucky! Menopur was definitely the worst of it for me. everything else was fine bc i would ice before hand (I'm a BIG baby when it comes to needles :p)
@GreenThumb: since i'm off of chocolate/caffeine at the moment kids who come to our house are getting playdoh or stickers and i've asked hubby to weed out all the things i'm avoiding from DD's treat bag and put them aside in case i need to have a self pity party after my first beta (I swap out all of her stuff with crafts and healthy snacks anyways bc i'm mean like that)

@endymion4: My acupuncturist's daughter has celiac disease, but still goes out trick or treating. However, she turns in her candy at the end of the night for a present from the Candy Witch. She is now old enough to know that it's mom and dad, so she got to pick out her's this year and is getting a chemistry set. How cool of an idea is that?!
Also, she bought 500 superballs to give as Halloween handouts. lol

@NorthStar: that's a great idea! will have to try that next year (but girlfriend got a sweet tooth like her mama, so it might be a tough sell ;)). This might be the only year where she won't catch on to the fact that what goes in her bag isn't what is coming out

okay, who peed on a stick after transfer and who waited very patiently for beta? i still have over a week to go. I know it's too early to test anyways, but i am going a little crazy
kiwi / 613 posts
@endymion4: How many days past transfer are you? (Sorry I am horrible with keeping up lately!) I never made it all the way to the beta without testing. I tried to wait long enough where it would be definitive, but failed at that most times too. Good luck!!!

@endymion4: I'm a notorious pee-er, but with my history of losses, I just want to KNOW.
apricot / 365 posts
@momazon: today is only 6 days post transfer. way too early going to try my hardest not to buy any, but I still have 1 week and a day to wait!!
@jaguar: I feel ya! My losses have always been after positive pregnancy tests, so I know it won't even put me at ease, per se, but if I'm NOT, then I can at least stop feeling like i'm walking on eggshells all the time!

Keeping everything crossed for you both! Wishing for lots of miracles and stickiness!

@FliegepilzHut: that is really good self-control!! i'm just going to ban myself from anywhere that sells them. i mean we don't HAVE to eat this week, right??
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@endymion4: Ha! Yeah, I just wanted a definitive answer...and not to be a complete basketcase waiting for my beta! Good on you, not keeping any in the house!
apricot / 365 posts
@FliegepilzHut: oh, we had a ton of them, but i've been pregnant 3 times in the last year and a half (all miscarriages), and once we ran out on the last one i just couldn't bring myself to buy more

@NorthStar: @agold: hey, ladies thanks for thinking about me! Tomorrow will be one month since my ER!
This is turning into quite the ordeal (on top of the ordeal that is IVF). The good news is that the intense, crazy pain has not returned, but I feel crampy and bloated off and on. And I have a dull ache in that ovary almost all the time. Another symptom is some dark/old blood with my morning BM. (My period was long and happened sorta twice this month because I took BCPs for three days, in prep for FET, but this is ridiculously long to still be my period!)
Anyway, I called the RE again on Friday with these symptoms and was told I could get a scheduled Doppler u/s next week (the one that shows blood flow) and not wait for it to be an emergency. So that's progress on my care, at least. Oh, and I learned that my left (not painful ovary) is almost normal size but has a hemoraggic 2.5 cm cyst. The right (painful) ovary is now cyst-free but "full of many follicles." It is a different u/s result than with the OBGYN the week before (2.5 cm cysts both sides) but the ovary size is about the same. Not sure what to make of that.
As an added step for my own piece of mind, I've decided to see my OBGYN Monday for a second opinion on my symptoms. Last time I saw him was just after the first pain episode. We figured it was a rupture and I was sent on my way. Since he would be opening me up to fix anything if it gets to that point, I just feel better having him involved. He can order the Doppler u/s for me.
I have been googling non-stop just for more information and experiences with these IVF complications. There are so few medical papers about it and the general info sites basically say the same, non-detailed things. Interestingly, there are a few forum sites where ladies have posted about ovarian torsion, post-IVF cysts, and OHSS that lasts for 4+ weeks without pregnancy and such. These are obviously areas that should be studied better and kind of indicates why our REs (or is it just mine?) don't prepare us or monitor us for these complications.
So, anyway, more than you wanted to know but I feel compelled to share the details in case someone is googling around like me and needs to figure out what's going on with their body!
ETA: Corrected some typos this time!

@endymion4: Rats...I totally get that, too. My first 2 pregnancies were losses. Sorry I don't know your story-- did you have a work-up for recurrent loss? FX you'll be getting your rainbow baby soon!
@Amorini: FX that you get some good answers soon and that your ovary is healthy!

@FliegepilzHut: thanks so much! Last night when I couldn't sleep (or stop googling,) I was reading through the IVF threads when you were going through all of this and eventually got your BFP. Love it when IVF grads come back to this thread. It just gives me hope and helps me keep these complications and setbacks in perspective.

@Amorini: Oh, man! so sorry to hear about all of that. Hoping you get some answers from your appointments!!

@endymion4: I've never waited for my beta because I just couldn't go in blind. But I've also tested sooner and sooner as time goes on and ended up being fooled with chemical pregnancies. Who know what I'll do next time around . I always try to hold out as long as possible, but always cave.
@Amorini: I am so sorry that this saga continues for you. I really hope that you get some good answers this week.
AFM: Added another metformin pill today and AF came as expected. One more month before BCPs!

@Aqualov: Welcome!
@GreenThumb: how early did you test? I'm 6 days post transfer, beta a week from tomorrow.
apricot / 365 posts
@FliegepilzHut: I think they did a full loss work up. All of the pregnancies were without any fertility treatment, and I decided to have "natural" miscarriages with all of them instead of a D&C (though in hindsight, maybe I should've with the last one so they could have tested the tissue?). at any rate, there is nothing we've come up with so far as to why (i have a 3 year old--no fertility treatments with her, and no issues with the pregnancies). Since having her, i've had what seem to be some kind of immune response issues (became allergic to certain foods, rashes that don't go away without steroids, etc), but haven't tested positive for anything specific.

@Aqualov: Welcome! I am also gearing up for a fresh cycle, likely stimming in late Dec and transferring in January, too. Is this your first IVF?
@endymion4: So with my DD (my first FET) beta was 9dp5dt and I tested on 7dp5dt and then
on 8 dp5dt. I don't think I've tested earlier than 7dpt based on that result. I have gotten
on day 7 twice, but they were both CPs. How many dpt is your beta? Can't remember, were you a day 5 transfer? FX so hard for you!!
ETA: I am so sorry about your losses! I have a friend who has gone through something very similar recently that is now heading down the path of IVF, too.
pear / 1986 posts
@endymion4: OMG, that's like 19 dpo! You will surely have to test before then
pear / 1881 posts
@endymion4: that is a really long time for your beta, so I would totally test if it was me. I'm also so sorry for all of your losses and I'm sure that makes this process that much more difficult. I'm in the midst of my first ivf cycle and know that I will have to test so that I can prepare myself for the call.
I'm on my third day of stimming and went in for a blood test this morning. Estrogen is only 35, so they are upping my follistim to 300. If i stim past Saturday, I'll need to buy more meds!
pear / 1986 posts
@NorthStar: Wishing you all the best for this cycle. Slow and steady is good! When are you headed back for your next check? Definitely hoping you don't need to buy more meds!!
apricot / 365 posts
@NorthStar: I fully intend to let it go to voicemail when she calls though I will be home alone with kiddo (they usually call between 3-4), so I may wait to listen to it so i don't have a breakdown in front of her (we also stopped telling her about the pregnancies after the 2nd loss, bc whoa, how confusing for her!).
Good luck to you!! I had to rebuy meds twice when they upped my dosage and hadn't planned on that extra expense at the time, so I hope you don't have to!

@endymion4: I waited the whole two weeks before my beta, and ended up POAS the morning of my beta. I wanted to process the news before my doctor called with the results. It caused me to cry while getting my blood drawn since I knew it was negative at that point, but I was able to have a conversation with my doctor when he called with the news.
@Amorini: oh my. What an update! It's so great for you to post your info here to help others who are searching for answers. I've often searched the Internet for many IVF related issues only to come up with nothing. So regarding your news....I'm so sorry you are still having fairly serious issues. But it sounds like thing are going a little better, am I right? No more risk of your ovary snapping off? At least you've got both your RE and obgyn looking after you. I hope you get through this soon. Please keep updating here.
@Aqualov: hi. Welcome! Is this your first IVF? You will surely find support here.
@GreenThumb: that's so great AF came and you've got just one month left. Hopefully it goes by so quick for you.
AFM: my period started today so I can call tomorrow to schedule my FET!
apricot / 365 posts
@agold: i didn't think of the reaction going in if i know it's going to be negative (or my ability to function for a bit once i find out). that actually may just compel me to skip the home test and wait to hear the results after i have DD in bed that night so if i need to have a breakdown, i can
Yay for being able to schedule your FET!!!

@GreenThumb: @agold: Yes, this is my first IVF. I'll be stimming in mid-January and transfer (hopefully) in late January.
We're kind of a hopeless case. My husband has azoospermia so he'll do a mTESE the day before my transfer. If we get sperm, we'll do ICSI, if we don't I'll freeze any eggs found. DH's azoo didn't respond to meds and his testicular biopsy showed a single germ cell, the rest Sertoli only. We have a 20-30% chance of finding sperm during his surgery. We've been at this for 2.5 years with over a year of medical pause between my husband and I. I also have severe Endometriosis (I've had 3 laps to remove it) and an AMH of 0.3, so who knows if I'll react to the stimming meds to get eggs, or if we'll be able to get pregnant if we do get embryos. It's worth the try though. We want a baby so badly! Thanks for the welcome!

@Amorini: There's definitely a camaraderie that comes with IVF...at least on HB (and IRL, if you're lucky enough)! Currently, I'm coming up on the end of my maternity leave and just absolutely in love with my little boy... I'll be rooting for you!!!
@endymion4: I would be concerned for some kind of autoimmune disease (lupus/APLA)...but surely they tested for that? Everything crossed for you!
@jaguar: So d**ned unfair...
@Aqualov: Welcome!
