@Aqualov: Oh hun, what a nightmare. That has happened to me SO many times. (Usually a cyst or hormones just being wacky - but it's excruciating)
Big hugs.

@Aqualov: I'm so sorry. I can only imagine how frustrating that news is/was. As others have said, I hope the Dr. gets back to you right away this morning to talk about options.

@Aqualov: oh my gosh - I'm so sorry! Have you heard anything from the doctor??

@Aqualove: any word from the doc? Sending you huge hugs!
My Appointment went well. 11 follicles around 18-19mm. He said "great." The plan is to trigger tonight. We are Waiting to hear bloodwork- hoping estrogen goes up well since it didn't double last time. He seems to think worst case is two to transfer and nothing to freeze. I'm trying to stay calm.

@AmeliaBedilia: Sounds like you are doing good!! 11 is a great number and try to stay positive! You have made it this far and can do it a more days! Honestly, the waiting for embryo updates were the worst, but at least at that point, it is all out of your hands. Good luck tonight! I was deathly afraid of the trigger shot due to the size of the needle, but honestly, didn't even feel it!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@NorthStar: Thanks. I'm not worried about the needle, just the timing. We have a friend in from out of town so we will be out at dinner. It's pregnyl so it needs to be mixed. I've delegated that to DH. It's DH's friend who knows about IF but doesn't know about IVF. It's fine if he knows though. My doc gives a fertilization report, tentative day 3 transfer time, and then looks at embryos day 3 to decide. He says it's like baking- you don't want to check on them and disturb them more than needed.

ER was great this morning. 10 eggs, a number I am really happy with. A little crampy but nothing serious. DH is getting me a huge turkey sandwich and chips! Fertilization report tomorrow, 3 day transfer on Friday or 5 day on Sunday!

@GreenThumb: Yay!! Awesome number! I don't remember - how many did you get the first round? Definitely reward yourself with some yummy food and take it easy. Do you have the rest of the week off or just today?
pear / 1986 posts
@NorthStar: Thank you! Last time... um... 39 eggs! Not a great cycle looking back in hindsight (I was so naively proud at the time). I am a stay at home mom, so I'm on toddler duty, but my BFF is coming over tomorrow afternoon to keep me company and I am very grateful.

@GreenThumb: omg - that's an insane number! Yes, much better this time around, which will help with the egg quality for sure! Sounds perfect and hopefully your little one lets you rest some. I had a hard time explaining to my 3 year old - no jumping on mommy's belly! Can't wait to hear about the reports!

@GreenThumb: Awesome! I was just coming here to see if you had updated us. Glad it went well.

I just got a call from the nurse. Said estrogen is 1010, up from 823 yesterday. I was hoping for a higher jump but she said it's ok. He signed off on my progesterone at 2.73 (higher than 3 means they do a freeze all). She's going to double check with him and call me back. I'm triggering tonight at 8:00. I hope we get to do fresh!!!!!
pear / 1881 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Yay!!! If for some reason, you end up doing a freeze all, try to not get too disappointed (which I know is SO hard). You really want your body to be in the best position to grow and accept that baby! Good luck!!
apricot / 365 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: sounds like a good update! Even the 'worst case scenario" leaves you with a transfer, and yay for the numbers being good for a trigger and potential fresh transfer!
@GreenThumb: yay for 10 eggs! enjoy the lunch and the relaxation!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@NorthStar: @endymion4: thanks. Now I'm worried that either way is disappointing. I worry that a borderline level could make pregnancy less likely. On the other hand, I don't want a delay, more monitoring, more meds, and another $2500.

@AmeliaBedilia: Hi! Popping in to say that I'm sorry you are worried about a freeze all cycle. But the frozen cycle is what worked for me and if I do IVF again, I will absolutely skip a fresh cycle. So try to just not worry about which way it goes. Best of luck, doll!

The nurse says RE is very comfortable with proceeding, my lining looks great, etc. She also said he cancelled two cycles so if he needed to cancel transfer, he would. Trying to keep stress down, which is so much harder than normal. Thanks for all the support!
pear / 1986 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: That's great news! Try to hold onto that for the next couple of days. You are doing great and it won't be long now!!
@endymion4: @AmeliaBedilia: Thanks! I'm excited to hear the report tomorrow. I just want a couple of little ones ready to go for transfer .

@GreenThumb: Congratulations on 10! A BRILLIANT number. (It's what all our specialists here aim for.)
@AmeliaBedilia: Yay for triggering! xx

Retrieval tomorrow so today is my one day off IVF. I had the ganirelix Monday night, trigger last night, but what keeps me from ovulating today? I'm having a little more pressure/cramping, and I haven't had much. Is this just the follicles getting bigger/mature? I know ovulation before retrieval is uncommon but these meds have made my anxiety go up so much.
pear / 1881 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: The trigger shot has your body ovulate about 36 hours after you did it. no idea how it works, but remember that these docs get paid the big bucks for a reason! They know what they are doing..have you been doing any meditations or anything to keep your anxiety down??
Oh, and I saw a girlfriend just before her retrieval and she felt like she was going to burst, so whatever you are feeling is TOTALLY normal..{hugs}

1st scan (day 3 of stims) this morning. Numbers not what I was hoping for. All I heard were the measurements, which were all about the same size, but only about 8. Last cycle (sept of 2015, unsuccessful) we had 9 at day 5, which ended up with only 5 mature eggs at retrieval. While I hope that they are better quality this time, the lower number to start has me discouraged. And, as it was last cycle, all but one of the follicles were on the right side. When we did the 2 IUI's in 2015 it was about equal on both sides, but these IVF cycles has my left side "empty". Worries me that something is wrong. Waiting on a call later about blood work and most likely no change to meds. Next appointment Friday morning.

Fertilization report:
10 eggs
9 fertilized with ICSI
6 embryos growing
We'll get a call on Friday morning with whether we are having a 3 day transfer (Friday) or 5 day (Sunday).
@waiting4you: I know this part is kinda the worst. But things will progress and I bet there might be more follicles by your next check on Friday.
@AmeliaBedilia: Deeps breaths... They've got you all set! You won't ovulate today and will have a great retrieval tomorrow! I just know it!!! Hugs!!!

@GreenThumb: Grow embryos, grow!
@waiting4you: I totally get your concerns- I was right where you are last week. My doc didn't scan until day 5. I had a slow response (6 on day 5) but now have 11 good follicles. The nurse also stressed quality over quantity. There could be some they don't see, or some that start growing. During the first two iuis, I ovulated on the right. I mentioned this to my acupuncturist before a treatment, then I had a better response on the left. I have 7 on left, 4 on right. So who knows? It's so hard to trust and be patient.

@NorthStar: I've been doing circle and bloom 1-2 times a day and trying to journal, read the bible and say rosaries. I think these meds and this process are just brutal.

@GreenThumb: Yayyyy for 6 growing! Praying they all stay strong till day 5 for you!

@jaguar: Thanks, that makes me feel better that it's happened to someone else.
My doc finally called back last night and said that since the meds work by increasing estrogen if I start a cycle with high estrogen already it's likely I'd have a very poor response to the meds, especially since I already have DOR which causes poor response itself. She said estrogen is usually back down in a week and she's never seen it take more than two. I feel better after hearing that. She answered all my questions thoroughly and told me not to hesitate to call back if I had more. She's my fav at the clinic:)
@AmeliaBedilia: @GreenThumb: @waiting4you: Thinking good thoughts for you ladies.

@Aqualov: Good update. Hopefully this is just a short delay and then you'll be on your way!

I'm trying to plan tomorrow. DH and I need to be there at 7:00 for 8:00 retrieval. DH needs to get to work after, so my mom will pick me up. (Office is on the way to work.) My mom can take me back to our house or to her house. My dad doesn't know and will probably be around a little. My doc says I can't drive but hasn't said anything about needing someone to stay with me. Also complicating matters, DH's good friend is in town for work and Thursday might be the only chance to see him.
My questions:
How did you feel after retrieval? Did you need someone with you? Would you have been up for going out for a low key dinner (DH would drive). Or am I just crazy?
pear / 1881 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I felt perfectly fine after my retrieval. Just super tired, but otherwise, was fine. We actually went out to lunch afterwards since I was starving for not eating for so long. I would think that you could be ok. How far away is your DH's work from home (in case you absolutely needed him)? Good luck tomorrow!!
pear / 1986 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I think that sounds fine. I was crampy yesterday, but could have gotten in the car for a low key meal. And I did not need anyone with me. I was a little groggy on the ride home, but not out of it at all. I came home, ate a huge sandwich, and then slept/watched TV for the rest of the day, but overall, I felt fine. They gave me extra strength Tylenol before I left the hospital, but I didn't take any once I was home. I guess if I was going out I might have taken some before heading out. I'm so excited for you!!
pear / 1986 posts
@Aqualov: @waiting4you: @AmeliaBedilia: Thank you all! Can't wait until transfer is over... I'll feel a lot better then!
@Aqualov: I'm really glad you had a great talk with your doctor today. And I hope that a week or so will do the trick and you can move right along!!
apricot / 365 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: i don't know the science behind it, but i kept feeling all sorts of things that made me think i was ovulating, but i didn't. you're so close to being past the retrieval--hang in there!!
@waiting4you: i was a super slow starter, but they will grow!!
@GreenThumb: yay for 6 embryos!
@Aqualov: glad you got some good explanations and are feeling better about it!
@AmeliaBedilia: i threw up a little when we got home (i think from the anesthesia), but other than that i was fine.

Only 8. Disappointed and angry. Before we started he estimated 10-15. Last check was 11 good follicles plus some maybes and he always estimates low, so I figured at least 10. RE said under the microscope they looked good quality. I'm feeling ok physically, just tired and mild discomfort.
