@Marfi: oh no! That’s so frustrating. Will they make adjustments to your estrogen this time around?

@yellowbeach: They are going to have me vaginally and orally from day one this time. We’ll see what happens!

So, warning, random complaining and moaning on my part...
So I have a date for my ERA, and my PIO came via FedEx to start taking tomorrow. I asked the nurse at my RE what time I needed to take it since all this ERA stuff is about timing. Initially she said "just sometime in the evening like you always do" but then said she'd confirm with Igenomix, the ERA lab.
Turns out they have a whole calculator to figure it out based on embryo age, etc. I need to take it exactly at 3pm since my biopsy will be at 3pm 6 days later. When she wrote back telling me that, she said they (the clinic) had only done one ERA before, so they were learning as they went along. I'm having second thoughts about choosing to have my RE do it rather than the 2nd opinion RE I consulted who recommended it.

AF showed this morning and we are so ready for this cycle to begin! Waiting to hear from my RE with my tentative dates!

@Marfi: Pretty seamless - just a tad bit of cramping. Only took <10 minutes. Now waiting for results and hoping it gives us something different to try.
Hurray for AF and for you to get started!

@Marfi: Any updates on dates???
@LazB: Are you going to join us over here and update? I started estrace yesterday. Are you on any meds yet?

@yellowbeach: yes! I am waiting to start af, so I don’t have an “official “ update, but I was planning on hanging over here again when I do!

@yellowbeach: I'm tentatively scheduled for the 25th! I'll find out for sure at my lining check on Tuesday!

@yellowbeach: any ERA results yet? And what is your plan (sorry if you already told us) regardless of the results? Was thinking about you this morning and feeling very anxious, as in wanting things to go well for you! I imagine you must be feeling a little frustrated too if you haven't gotten your results yet.
nectarine / 2648 posts
@Mrs. Pajamas: Yep still waiting for results. I think my clinic was expecting 14 days. Enough time to incorporate any changes into this cycle. I am leaning towards transferring all three remaining embryos no matter the result of the ERA and then if that doesn’t work, trying naturally for 2 or 3 months or maybe IUI. I’m feeling pretty exhausted on the IVF front. There’s still a possibility of doing another IVF retrieval and starting fresh with the RE that gave the second opinion last month, but I need to get past my medical boards before I could even consider taking that on. Thanks for thinking of me. ️

@yellowbeach: oof that is LOT going on mama. So many hugs to you. Will be thinking good thoughts so you get some helpful answers...and soon! Jesus all of us with infertility deserve a PhD in patience right?

Woo hoo! I’m finally starting cd1. I had spotting for almost a week, but nothing yesterday. Today was a tiny bit of spotting again and I saw like two red spots so I called in and reported cd1 even though it’s not really yet because it will be soon and I know how much harder it is to get in touch with anybody over the weekend. I go in for my baseline on Sunday and start meds then!
If all goes according to average schedule for this plan, we will do my transfer on October 5. So excited!

Whoops, looks like I jumped the gun, still no after and I'm like 4/5 days late (no, definitely not pregnant this month). Guess I shouldn’t have called them, I had to skip my appointment this morning since AF still hasn’t started. Hopefully soon!

So, my ERA results are in! Mixed emotions but glad I did the test. It came back "early receptive" which means a normal test, that we have been transferring during the appropriate window. The good news is this is the right protocol for us and we didn't waste all those embryos doing the wrong timing. The bad news means we are right where we have been with nothing to change and nothing new to try to hope for a different outcome. Here's the report for those of you like @Kaohinani: who like to see all the details.
So, this means we will transfer our last 3 embryos on Oct 1. I'm not expecting success since nothing has really changed, but part of me just wants to do this and close our current IVF chapter. I say that now, but wouldn't be surprised if I change my mind later... day by day.

I had my lining check today for this cycle and doing the oral and vaginal estrace seems to have done the trick! A nice thick trilaminar lining! We are a go for transfer next Wednesday!

@Marfi: Wonderful news! It’s so great to see improvement like that after protocol changes. Excited for you!

After spotting and fake outs for almost two weeks, I finally started cd1 today! This means my transfer should be between October 7-12. Super pumped!

I went for my cd2 ultrasound and bloodwork today, and estrogen came back at 102. This was surprising because even after days of stims for my retrieval cycle I was in the mid 40s, so I have no idea what’s going on.
Anyway, they said I can start the meds as planned tomorrow, and come in for a follicle and lining scan next Friday to make sure I don’t have a lead follicle.
What happens if I do have a lead follicle? Do they cancel the cycle? Does high estrogen indicate anything, like will we transfer earlier? Anyone have similar experiences?
pomegranate / 3904 posts
Doc wrote me back! Basically she said if there is a lead follicle we will just trigger it to control the release of progesterone, so still on for this cycle!
nectarine / 2648 posts
@LAZB: hey sorry not to write back sooner (out of town for a wedding and long weekend in NY). I had a lead follicle on ER#2. It was 4-5 mm ahead of all the others that were in the same range. We just let it overmature and release and then triggered with the intent of getting the herd behind it. Glad the Estrogen level isn’t going to muck anything up.

@yellowbeach: thanks for getting back! I had a lead Follicle for my retrieval, but since this is only a FET cycle, not sure what is impacted. I’m thinking if I do have a lead follicle on Friday, it will kind of turn into a natural cycle
pomegranate / 3904 posts
@yellowbeach: definitely not! I’ve been doing some googling and it seems that there are similar success rates between a natural and medicated cycle, so I’m trying to just relax

Ok guys I feel like such a noob. I casually handed DH the ERA report and said “here’s the detail of you are curious” since he’s a doc too and likes the science stuff. Apparently he’s a better reader than me and the RE because if you look at the report, it specifically says I need 12 more hours. How did I miss this? And why did my RE say no changes? 🤯
pomegranate / 3904 posts
@yellowbeach: glad he caught that! How odd that your re didnt say anything
nectarine / 2648 posts
Update on ERA debacle: I sent a message to my RE last night stating my concern in hopes not to ambush him with it and to give him some time to process and see what he thought. His nurse wrote me back this morning and said they were just discussing this yesterday afternoon (coincidence 🤔) and decided I need 12 more hours of PIO.
I’m not going to waste energy debating if this was a miss on their part or what - just happy to have something different to try this last transfer.

All done! We had a single 4AA embryo transferred! Everything went great, now we wait!

@Marfi: Woohoo! Thinking good thoughts for you mama. What are your plans to manage the awful 2ww?
clementine / 794 posts
@Mrs. Pajamas: I think I'll be to busy to stress about it. Hubs is going to be on a trip for work next week leaving me and our almost 1 year old so I'll have lots to distract me!
pomegranate / 3904 posts
I don’t think I’ve mentioned on here, but I have like five friends doing frozen transfers in the next month or so. The first one was last week, and she got a positive, but now it looks like a chemical. I wasn’t even worried about a chemical happening because of PGS testing, but now I’m back on the worry train.
I have my appointment tomorrow to check for a lead vocal, and I will know more about transfer dates after that I think.
