    @kentuckygirl: Woo hoo it's going to get exciting for you so fast! If I'm counting correctly, I'm 9dp3dt today. My transfer was on 8/25. I'm not sure about a website to look at beta numbers. I think it can differ so wildly from person to person that it's hard to tell what's normal?

    @Apex: I'm crossing my fingers that you just have one or two REALLY STICKY STRONG bebes in there. I CAN'T BELIEVE WE ARE GOING TO BE MAY MAMAS!

    Just had a monitoring visit & we are a little worried about whether my smaller follicles can catch up to the leader & possible low # of mature eggs. Hoping for better news on Saturday when I go back.

    I am a little discouraged now. I have been so hopeful going into IVF. I was also struck by that fact that DH does not really understand all this IF stuff. When I told him about the visit he said, "Can't they give you medicine to grow the follicles?" Duh, yes dear, that is the shot I take every night. I also realized this week that even when DH is around as I start to prep for my shot, he always leaves the room. I didn't intend for this to be a DH vent, I just feel alone and that it's hard to express my worries to him since he doesn't totally get it. Thanks for listening ladies.

    @kentuckygirl: I'm so sorry that your monitoring visit didn't go as well as you'd hoped. Was this your first one? Are they going to adjust your meds or keep going as you are? I'm hoping your little follies can catch up.

    I think some of the IVF stuff is hard for husbands. A lot is going on in our bodies and it was hard for my DH to understand sometimes. He wanted to learn about it, but he wasn't going out on websites and reading everything he could like I was. So sometimes the news they gave us at the doctor just didn't mean anything to him because he didn't have as much context as I did (being obsessed with reading about IVF online and all that). Does your DH give you the shots, or do you do them yourself? Even if he isn't giving them to you, maybe you could get him involved in some way? Like have him swab the spot on your stomach with the alcohol wipe, or measure out the meds even if he isn't injecting it? Maybe then he will feel more involved and you won't feel so alone.

    @twodoghouse: Thanks! You are correct that I am IF obsessed and DH just doesn't have time to read and learn as much. He is doing the work of two people to keep his small business going and so he needs my Cliff's Notes version of IF. It's just one more reason though why IF is so hard. Even though we are in it together, I feel that I am carrying more of the burden. I usually don't mind but his comment today just struck me wrong. I need to do a better job explaining it to him but at the same time, I don't want IF to be our dominant topic of conversation.

    I am so grateful I can share my worries with you all and you understand why I am worried. Thanks again for letting me vent!

    @twodoghouse: omg, congrats!
    @Leialou: your cycle is picture perfect!
    @kentuckygirl: sorry you are feeling down. will you start ganirelix or some other drug soon to prevent the big one from ovulating before the others catch up? things change so much from day to day. try not to get discouraged! Also, sorry about DH. Sounds like he has a lot on his plate, but I can see why that makes you feel lonesome throughout all of this. Since they don't have to deal with this physically, I just don't think it's the same.

    @kentuckygirl: Try not to get too disappointed. This whole IVF stuff is really a roller coaster and you never know what is going to happen tomorrow. Your small follicles could start growing soon and you could have a lot of eggs. You never know.

    I agree with you that men just don't understand this whole ivf thing the way that women do. Try not to let it get to you. I'm sure your DH is trying to understand it, but it is hard for them too. I agree with others that you should try to get DH involved. Its hard not to have this your main topic of conversation right now. You are seriously in the middle of this. In a few weeks. life should return to normal and won't be centered around ivf. You can always vent to us if you need to. Every women here understands what you are going through.

    Thank you all! Things can change and I am hoping that Saturday's visit shows a better outlook. I will start Ganirelex on Friday night (CD 10), so hopefully that does give the smaller follies time to catch up. I think I got so concerned because the Dr. seemed concerned. I talked with DH tonight and gave him more details, so that may help. Have a great night ladies!

    @kentuckygirl: I'm sorry your appointment didn't go well. Hopefully you get better news at the next one! I really wanted my DH to be involved during my injections, but I didn't want him sticking me. He would open packages, swab my stomach, hand me gauze, etc. My RE doesn't allow SOs back for monitoring ultrasounds, so it was really the only thing he could be there for. Do you think your DH would help out in any way with your shots?

    @twodoghouse: do you get your beta results tomorrow? I hope your numbers are nice and high!

  23. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

    @Leialou: Yes, I should get my beta results today. I told my nurse on Wednesday that I already tested, but she's still making me wait. I had my repeat draw this morning, so hopefully it doesn't take too long to get the numbers back.

    How have you been feeling? Did you end up testing out your trigger? Are you tempted to take a HPT soon?

    @Apex: How are you doing? Do you know when your first ultrasound will be?

    @twodoghouse: i have an appointment for next week Thursday. My second beta test yesterday was 5,700. Now I'm scared of having quints, lol. My DH is certain its twins. Can't wait to read about your numbers. How's your sister doing?

  25. Mrs. Pickle

    blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts

    @twodoghouse: I never did test. I'm going to wait until next week to POAS. It took all of my willpower not to do it this morning though! I feel fine, no real symptoms. I hope that doesn't mean anything.

    @Apex: 55,700 or 5,700? Either way, wow!

  26. Apex

    @Leialou: oops, edited. It was 5,700. Yesterday was 13dp5dt

    @Leialou: Wow, great job with the willpower! I can't wait for you to POAS next week. Crossing my fingers for you!

    @Apex: I hope they'll be able to see how many babies at your appointment next week! My DH is starting to get nervous about the possibility of twins, but there's nothing we can do about it now, right? I'm glad your numbers are looking so good!

    My sister found out that only 4 of her 18 fertilized eggs made it to freeze. I think she is a little disappointed, but 4 is better than nothing! She is waiting for AF to start now and is hoping for a FET at the end of September.

    Got a call from my doctor - it's official! My number on Wednesday was 138 and today (47 hours later) it was 300. Woo hoo! My coordinator is going to send me my meds calendar via email and also let me know what day I need to schedule my first ultrasound!

    I have egg retrieval on Wednesday morning. At my appointment on Saturday the Dr. said we will be happy to get 5 eggs. With my age and FSH, 5 eggs would be reasonable, but I had just hoped somehow that we would get more. I am so nervous that they won't get enough eggs and that they won't fertilize. They may do a 2 day transfer . I have to let my worries go and just hope for good things. I would certainly appreciate prayers or good thoughts

    If they do a 2 day transfer I am leaning toward transferring 3 (if we have that many) but I don't know that DH is on board yet. Otherwise we will transfer two.

    Hope you all have a good week! I can't wait to hear about the beta results and ultrasounds this week!!!
