Poas again and another line. Lighter than the first but still there so yay!! Now just to deal with the inflammation issue.

Okay ladies I need some POAS expert opinions. This is my first cycle doing any HPT. I got a first line on 6dpt and we transferred 2 embryos. Our beta is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

There isn't a lot of change in the tests so I need to know if it looks like it is getting darker. (I am super scared of another chemical pregnancy).

I see a clear trend towards darker. Fingers crossed!

@brownie: your FRER is as dark as mine have ever gotten, including with this one! I think it looks like a legit line

@brownie: that FRER looks super and I think that wondfos in general can be iffy with the darkness of the dye. Fingers crossed for Tuesday!

@brownie: The lines are certainly getting darker, yayyy. I can't wait for Tuesday!

@brownie: That FRER looks for sure and I do see a progression with the wondfos. I've never used the wondfos but I have heard they aren't always the greatest about showing progression since they're the cheapie ones.

Do you have any more FRERs you can use to compare the first one to? I saw this meme over on wedding bee. I'm horrible about encouraging POAS. Fingers crossed for you lovely lady!

@PointeShoesTutus: I have 2 more. I plan to use them each morning until my beta (so tomorrow and the next morning). Then beta day and as long as it is good I will go back to just the cheapy's (my friend gave them to me).

@brownie: that FRER looks beautiful! Get a digital for peace of mind though

ETA - I did a few days of cheapies then switched to FRERS. I waited a few days after I got my first positive then took a digital. It made it seem more real in a way.

@brownie: I'm no expert, but definitely looks like it's getting darker! Good luck!

@brownie: My FRER's didn't look any darker than that on the day of my first beta, and I definitely see darkening lines on the Wondfo's. Fingers crossed but I think things look good based on those tests!

Did anyone here have a natural FET? I haven't heard much about them, but that is what we are doing this month and I would love to hear other people's stories. It is supposed to be a little easier on your body, since you are not using medication to build your lining, but what are the downsides to this?

  17. Apex

    clementine / 770 posts

@justdarling: I asked about the Natural FET too, but my RE thought we had a better chance with a medicated one, or at least some medication to support my system incase things didn't work out well enough naturally.

I have however heard a lot of success stories with natural FET's tho, so i'm sure it would be just fine.

Hi ladies, sorry I've been so quiet lately. Its been a crazy couple of weeks - new job, family wedding overseas, DH's birthday, my grandma passed away...this is all the last two weeks!
I do have a small update...I got an appointment with an RE that came both personally and professionally recommended. I have 2 mutual friends who went to him and loved him...one for PCOS, one for IVF, but not w/PGD. And my Genetic Counselor recommended him as well.
Its next Thursday, Oct 17th. Its just a consultation so that we can get some questions answered, learn about the potential timeline of things, etc.
I'm so ready for next Thursday already! We might not actually do IVF for a few months if we try one more time in our own (I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, since a miscarriage is nearly certain), but it will feel so good to have this in our arsenal of information.
@PointeShoesTutus: I've been reading the book you recommended...slowly but surely. I was hoping I'd read it on the trip overseas, but it turns out I wanted to NOT think about TTC and the hurdles we have to overcome while we were there. Which is what I needed, a small break. Now I am back into information overload mode.
The last two days have been HARD. I don't know why. I hadn't cried about our situation for a couple of weeks, since we first found out - now I'm crying a couple of times every day. AF is here, maybe I'm just a little hormonal

Any milestones coming up for anyone on the IVF journey? Its been quiet here lately!

@SweetiePie: wow, that's an eventful couple of weeks! I'm sorry about your grandmother. How exciting about the RE consult! I may wind up on the same timeline as you - right now the current plan is to start IVF in January (with BCP in December) so hopefully this lucky board will start bumping again in a couple months, if not sooner!

  23. justdarling

    apricot / 452 posts

@Apex: Thanks for the encouragement. I see a lot written about medical FETs but not many about natural. I ovulate regularly which is why we are doing a natural FET, but I want to make sure that this is the right decision.

@SweetiePie: I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Good luck at your RE consult. Make sure that you go in with a list of questions. Sometimes it is easy to forget what questions you originally had. I saw your other thread, but didn't comment on it. My thoughts on that are if you need to go through one more cycle TTC on your own, then that's what you need to do. IVF is such an emotional roller coast that you have to be ready for it. If you go into it now but have thoughts about what would have happened naturally, you will always doubt your decision. It sounds as if you are prepared for all of the consequences of this natural cycle and then will be ready to tackle IVF.

I am hoping all of the good vibes of this board stick around for all of us still going through this!!!!

A small update for me: I have been using OPKs to check for ovulation so that we can get this FET started. I got my positive OPK last night!!! I have never been so excited to get a positive OPK!!! I called the nurses at my RE this morning and am now waiting for them to call me back so that we can set up an appointment either today or tomorrow to check my lining. Then we will finally get a date for the FET!!!

  24. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@justdarling: So exciting! I don't know much about FETs (natural or otherwise).... so during a natural FET do you take any medication? Or do you just rely on your body to do its thing and transfer the egg when your lining is thick enough? Will you do progesterone injections/supplements after transfer? Keep us updated on how your appointment goes!

@SweetiePie: Sounds like its been a rough couple weeks for you. I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma. Good luck at your appointment next week with the RE. I hope you get a lot of good information and feel comfortable with the office and everything. IVF (even just facing the decision and RE appointments) is really a roller coast for your emotionals. Don't feel bad about getting so upset about this. We have all been there!

@Shutterbug: I bet you're getting so anxious for December & January! It will be here before you know it. I'll be thinking of you this fall and you prepare to go through IVF!

  25. justdarling

    apricot / 452 posts

@twodoghouse: Right now I am on an antibiotic, but other than that there is no medication prior to the transfer. I will be on a steroid on the day of the transfer and a few days after. I will also have progesterone after the transfer. It is so strange to be mid cycle and really not be taking anything! If my lining is not where it should be at the check, I may have to do some estrogen but hopefully it is thick enough on its own.

How are you feeling??? I am so excited for you!!

  26. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@justdarling: Wow, that's so interesting! Thanks for all the info. It sounds like a great, less stressful (on the body at least!) way to go through the process.

I've been feeling ok. Mostly I am just so exhausted. I can't stay awake after eating, especially. I guess my body doesn't have the energy to digest food, nourish two babies and keep me awake at the same time! I've started having issues with eating (feeling sick after or during) but not much throwing up so I'm considering myself lucky. We saw the babies again yesterday on ultrasound so that was wonderful! They seem to be doing great. I have another appointment next week with the regular OB!

    @Shutterbug: @justdarling: @twodoghouse: Thanks for the condolences

@Shutterbug: that would be amazing if we were on the same schedule it actually makes me a little excited for IVF, which I haven't been yet

@justdarling: Thank you for the tip! After I saw your response I started compiling a list! I'm sure I'll still forget some stuff, but hopefully I'll have a good starting point!
Good luck with your FET!!! Did you ever hear back from the nurses? Did you go in today?

@twodoghouse: You're so right! The decision to go for IVF is so stressful! It boggles my mind.
I love seeing your updates. It would be exciting to see an ultrasound of your two babes if you feel comfortable. We are pretty set on transferring two embryos when the time comes

  28. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@SweetiePie: Of course I'll share an ultrasound pic! I am sort of obsessed with looking at our pictures of them, haha. Somewhere on this thread are the pics of them as embryos (one of the advantages of IVF - you get to see them at 3 or 5 days old! Amazing).

The first pic below is a little past 6 weeks when we found out it was twins. They look like empty black sacs here, but when the doctor moved the wand around we were able to see more detail inside the sacs. This one shows clearly that there are two, though!

The second pic is from Monday (8 weeks 4 days) where you can tell there are real babies in there! Top is Baby B and bottom pic is Baby A. The little waves along the bottom is where they were measuring the heartbeats!

  29. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@twodoghouse: That is amazing! I can't even imagine how thrilling it must be to see and hear two heartbeats! Has excitement overcome the shock yet? I feel like I'd constantly be thinking "holy s*#% there are two in there?!?!"

  30. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@SweetiePie: I think we've sort of gotten beyond the shock. But it's also weird because the reality totally hasn't set in yet either. I'm sure pregnancy with one is probably similar. At the beginning it just doesn't feel real! I'm sure once I get really big and can feel the babies move the reality of having twins will really sink in.

@kentuckygirl: Thanks for the positive thoughts! It feels like I have been in this cycle forever!!!

@Shutterbug: I think I am the only one cycling right now. There was a ton of us during August with a lot of great results. Hopefully those good results keep coming this month!!!

For those that like the details: my lining was at 9mm on CD15, which was today. I have been doing a natural FET with no estrogen priming. It was great to hear that my body was actually doing what it was supposed to do for once!!! We also saw a 21mm dominant follicle in there (which apparently is a good thing even though it seems like that great follicle is wasted). They will call me this afternoon with my blood work results. Most likely I will start on a combo progesterone/estradiol suppository tonight and a lovenox shot (for the MTHFR). They will also let me know the date of the FET. We have 3 excellent quality 5 day blastocysts waiting for us but have decided to only transfer 1.

@Shutterbug: thanks for asking! I am eagerly/anxiously awaiting my first ultrasound on Monday!!! I saw that you are able to do more IUIs! Where are you in your cycle? Are you using injectibles or Clomid/Femara? Sorry, I can't remember

  39. Shutterbug

@kentuckygirl: ahh Monday will be here so soon! I'm 12dpiui (but got a BFN yesterday). I've been doing Clomid, but I'm switching to Femara for the next cycle.
