@Sunshine1810: good luck! Ice your belly before and everything will be great.

@Sunshine1810: how are stims going? Have you had a monitoring appointment yet?
pear / 1556 posts
@Shutterbug: It's going alright. I had an issue with the Menopur the first night I did it. I felt like such an idiot. I had a problem with the Q-Cap not being on tight enough when I was putting one vial of mixture into another, and ended up wasting two vials. It's going much better now though.
I haven't had any monitoring yet. I lower my Menopur dose tonight to 75 and keep on the Gonal-f at the same dose, then tomorrow morning I have blood work. I was originally scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow too, but now she just has me going for blood work and she will adjust my meds from there. I actually don't have an ultrasound until Friday.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Sunshine1810: Glad it's going well! Those Q-Caps are a pain until you get the hang of them. I had blood-only monitoring at first too, then added in u/s after about 5 or 6 days of stims I think. Good luck - keep us posted!
apricot / 305 posts
@Sunshine1810: Sounds like you're doing great! I think there's always something that goes wrong the first night of stims. We managed to mess up my first dose of gonal-f... and it was preloaded in the pen! Do you have more firm retrieval/transfer dates yet? That can't be too far off now!
pear / 1556 posts
@Shutterbug: That makes me feel better that you had blood monitoring at first too. I will definitely keep you posted!
@thisisme: I am getting better, but I was afraid of the Gonal-f pen! I have this fear that even though I have put in the correct dose, all of it will come out! I think my dates will be a little more final on Friday when I have blood work and u/s. I had blood work this morning so they will adjust my meds based on that, and then I will go in on Friday to see how I am progressing.

@Sunshine1810: I'm so glad it is going well!! Can't wait to hear how the blood work today went and how they adjust your meds. You must be so excited for the ultrasound on Friday!!! Next week is your big week!!

@Jenn23: I will definitely keep you updated! I am really excited for next week, but nervous too! Hopefully everything will go well!

Did anyone experience soreness while stimming? Today my shoulders and back feel sore, almost like when I start a new work out routine. I don't know if it's that I slept funny of if this could be the medication.
kiwi / 613 posts
@Sunshine1810: I didn't experience any muscle soreness, sorry you're having to go through that! Time for a massage from hubby!
pear / 1556 posts
@momazon: Perfect solution! I am feeling better today, so that's good. Maybe I did sleep funny the other night.
My doctor is on vacation this week so she is communicating with her nurse via email. The nurse is AWFUL. I have had a lot of issues with her. She called me yesterday afternoon and said that based on my blood work I needed to go back up to the 150 of Menopur. Obviously that wasn't the news I wanted to hear. I asked her what my levels were and she said that the doctor said my estradiol levels could be higher.
She called me back 10 minutes later and said she misread the email from the doctor and I actually need to double both the Gonal-f and the Menopur. She said I now need to take 150 of Menopur in the morning and at night, and 150 of Gonal-f in the morning and at night. Obviously that means things are bad. She wouldn't expand on it though, and I don't know what my actual levels are. I won't really know what's going on until tomorrow. I just feel so down today

@Sunshine1810: Don't be worried about the numbers!! My AFC when I started IVF was really low, but I ended up with 13 eggs! We didn't expect nearly that many. You would be surprised how many can take off in the next few days. I know it is hard, but try not to worry. I'm sure at your ultrasound tomorrow you'll get good news!!
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Sunshine1810: Sorry that the nurse isn't awesome. I have my FX when you go in for your ultrasound things will get cleared up. I know my RE said that sometimes if you were supressed before starting that thing can take some time to get going.
persimmon / 1085 posts
Just did some reading up on this and many women say that their RE's double or bump up their doses after they say how they are responding to the meds. Since you have PCOS, they may have been concerned that you'd respond too well, so that is why she had you start off on a lower dose? But I just read on an IVF forum thread that many women have this happen and they were saying they had plenty of eggs at retrieval!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Sunshine1810: I agree with everyone else - you've been suppressed with Lupron (and BCP?) so it takes a little while to kick your ovaries into gear. Definitely nothing to worry about! Good luck tomorrow!
pear / 1556 posts
Wow you ladies have turned my whole day around! I feel so much better after hearing what you have to say.
@Shutterbug: I took BCP and Lupron and I am actually still on a small dose of Lupron daily.
@Jenn23: I think you're right. They were really worried about over stimulation because of the PCOS.
@mrswin: Thanks, me too! I'll let you all know how it goes!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Sunshine1810: yeah, especially with PCOS, they want to be careful to start slow and steady so you don't get OHSS.

I just got back from my follicle scan. I have 8 on my right side and 7 on my left. They are small though. On my right I had one that was 12 mm, one 11 mm, three 10 mm, and the rest were smaller than 10. On my left I had one 11 mm, three 10 mm, and all the rest were smaller than 10. I know they are definitely not big enough at this point. I am hoping they continue to grow! My lining was at 10 mm.
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Sunshine1810: Great update! Hopefully they all continue to grow nicely
pear / 1556 posts
@mrswin: Thanks!!! I hope so. I am just on the edge until the nurse calls today. Hopefully she will be nice at least!
persimmon / 1085 posts
@Sunshine1810: That's awesome!! And you may have even more than they can see! I had more retrieved at retrieval than were seen on my last ultrasound before trigger. Sounds like great numbers! When do you go back for the next scan?
pear / 1556 posts
@Jenn23: Thanks! I like hearing the feedback because honestly I didn't know what I was looking for today. The tech said she thought probably Sunday or Monday for another scan, but I will find out for sure this afternoon. The nurse should be calling me after my blood work results come in.
apricot / 305 posts
@Sunshine1810: slow and steady growth is what you want! It sounds like your follies are all around the same size, too, which is great! That means you should get lots of good eggs, I think!

I finally had my beta done yesterday. At 15dp5dt my hCG was 1,038 and my progesterone was 3.7. I'm back on PIO injections as well as Endometrin 3x/day. I go back on Monday for another beta. I'm trying to stay positive but I just don't see how this pregnancy can progress. My progesterone was lower yesterday than with my miscarriage in March.
@Sunshine1810: those are a good amount of follicles. What did the nurse say yesterday?
nectarine / 2433 posts
@swedishfish: I'm sorry about the low progesterone number, were you on anything from right after your transfer? I hope that the increased supplementation will help quickly and this will be a sticky baby for you
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@mrswin: I was on 6 days of PIO injections until the day of transfer then I switched to Endometrin 3x/day. Now I'm on both.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@swedishfish: hoping for the best!!! I'm not familiar with progesterone and endometrin. I know I was on pio throughout the process until like 9 weeks. Hoping the supplements work and you caught it on time!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@swedishfish: I was on PIO and Crinone suppositories from 1-2 weeks before transfer and continued both until 7 weeks pregnant. Then continued Crinone until 12 weeks. I feel your pain, but I believe they worked wonders for me! Praying they do the same for you!
Did the doc give any indication either way about the success of the pregnancy? If they are trying to supplement I wouldn't be worried just yet, it means that they feel it's viable! Try not to get upset just yet, you're still pregnant! xoxo

@tequiero21: @LovelyPlum: thanks
@SweetiePie: my doctor was out of state so another doctor reviewed it. I only spoke to the nurse on Friday. I hope he will be back to review tomorrow's blood work but I don't know. I wish I had been told to continue the PIO injections all along but this wasn't an issue in my first pregnancy.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@swedishfish: hoping the best for you! Your HCG number seems great, and I'm sure with the PIO added your progesterone # will get better as well. I've heard before that vaginal progesterone doesn't register as well in your blood (even if it's working in your uterus).

It's finally (almost) official -- it will really be official once I've got the copy of my calendar (and my meds) in hand! But I'm joining this thread anyway! Here's my anticipated IVF schedule:
Currently taking BCP's
June 11: Start Lupron injections
June 14: Stop BCP's
June 20: U/S to confirm suppression; if adequately suppressed, start stimulation (Follistim & Menopur)
June 23, 25, & 27: E2 level bloodwork +/- U/S
June 28: U/S; receive instructions for timing of trigger
June 30 - July 3: Projected egg retrieval. Start PIO.
July 3 - July 8: Projected Day 3 vs. Day 5 embryo transfer
I am very excited to get started (and taking any and all suggestions for how to relax and get through this in one piece)... I'll be seeing you all soon!

@FliegepilzHut: yay! So soon!
@Shutterbug: I am comforted by the idea that vaginal progesterone doesn't register as well in your blood. I'm trying to keep zen about tomorrow's blood work.

@FliegepilzHut: Awesome! How exciting!
@swedishfish: keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, whichever way this turns out for you!
@Sunshine1810: How are you doing? Retrieval should be coming up soon, right?!
pear / 1556 posts
@swedishfish: I am praying for you!!! The nurse kept me on the same doses of medications this weekend, and I went in for a follicle scan and blood work at 7:00 this morning.
@thisisme: Definitely getting close! I should know more this afternoon.
@FliegepilzHut: Great! It must feel good to be getting started. I was really excited to start my cycle.
This morning I went in for a follicle scan and blood work. Things are definitely progressing. Here's the rundown: Left side: 2 - 16mm, 1 - 15.5 mm, 2 - 15mm, 1 - 12mm, 1 - 11mm, and 6 that were under 11mm.
Right side: 1 - 15mm, 2 - 14mm, 4 were under 11mm.
My lining was 13mm. I was really glad to see they have been growing. Hopefully my retrieval will be soon!
