I had an ultrasound done today at 6 weeks 2 days. We saw a sac and a heartbeat. My RE is 99% sure there's only one baby but I go back in two weeks to double check before I'm released to the OB.

Question for anyone who did long Lupron/agonist protocol AND took BCPs: did you get a period once you stopped the BCPs? It's been 48hours since my last pill...and my protocol says I "may" get a period.

@swedishfish: Yay great news!!
@FliegepilzHut: I did get my period. They gave me a window of time (maybe 2 or 3 days?) when I might get it and it showed on that last day. When I'm up for the day (just nursing now) I will look to see how long after stopping BCP I got AF. I remember it was pretty light and short!

@swedishfish: that's wonderful news! Keep sticking, baby! Are you still doing PIO? How's that going?
honeydew / 7968 posts
@swedishfish: yay for a strong baby!
@FliegepilzHut: I don't remember which bc I took, but took like 3 weeks of active pills and the last week was inactive. Got my period for only like one day? And it was more like spotting. Good luck!

@FliegepilzHut: just looked it up in my notes. I got my period 4 days after taking my last BCP.

@swedishfish: Yay that's wonderful! Congratulations!!!
Thank you everyone for the well wishes! Let the waiting begin!!

@tequiero21: @twodoghouse: Thank you, ladies!!! TMI: I am currently 3 days out (after 31(!) days of active pills)...and this is officially the strangest spotting ever...

Alright, it took 5 days... Sheesh. But at least now I know that I will be able to produce a nice, healthy *new* lining for my eventual transfer.

@Jenn23: It sounds like you have a good attitude and that no matter what happens you will be moving closer to baby making! Hoing you get the 10 follies though, I would LOVE to save all that $$.
@swedishfish: Congrats!!
AFM... earlier in the week I had my CD3 labs, everything looked great, especially considering I've had 2 surgeries on my ovaries and they were worried about my ovarian reserve but my #'s all looked good. Next week I will be getting a saline ultrasound of my uterus and do a mock transfer then I am guess I will have my timeline for when I start stims!
Questions... Did all of you that are doing IVF have an HSG or just a saline ultrasound of your uterus?
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Mrs.Pinecone316: I just had a saline sono. My RE didn't see a need to perform an HSG on me. Good luck!
@FliegepilzHut: yay! You're getting close!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@Mrs.Pinecone316: That's fantastic! Are you taking birth control pills? I was able to jump right in to my injections after my saline sonogram! I had had an HSG within one year of starting IVF...don't really know if they might have repeated it otherwise. FX for you!
@swedishfish: How are you doing?
So everything is progressing right on track! I had my E2 level and U/S yesterday and got instructions to start stims last night! Forgot to take the antibiotics though, so will do that today (one dose). Hopefully that's not a big deal. I'm feeling a little dizzy/headache-y today, but drinking a lot of water, which seems to be helping. In another week I'll be up at my center being monitored and hopefully gearing up for my ER!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: I did both, plus a hysteroscopy. All are standard with my RE. We jumped straight to IVF, so I hadn't done any of them before. Maybe you'll get to start next cycle?!
@FliegepilzHut: Yay for starting stims and moving forward!
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@FliegepilzHut: woohoo for starting stims! How are you doing today? I'm alright but I'm really over these PIO injections. My next sono is Monday the 30th.

@FliegepilzHut: Hope things are going well with your stims!
@swedishfish: FX you don't need to PIO too much longer

I had my baseline ultrasound yesterday and my AFC was 15!! which is awesome because last time it was only 11. I got my schedule from the nurse today and I started BCP. I am expected to start stims on July 11th I am excited to get this process started

@Jenn23: FX for good results on your US and blood work this morning!!!
@swedishfish: So far, so good. I have lab (another E2 level) to be drawn this morning...then either continuing the same or adjusting my FSH dose! I'm excited for your U/S...and can only imagine how tired you must be of the PIO injections! How much longer do you think they'll want you to continue?

I just got my estrogen levels back after 3 days of stims...329. I was told this was "a little high"...or something to that effect... and they are reducing my total FSH dose. Can anyone give me some perspective on this? Those of you who had OHSS-- do you remember anything about your levels early during stims? Not worried (yet), just curious!

@Shutterbug: I'm doing ok. I think I'm out this cycle though I got a BFN this morning (8dp3dt) and my beta is tomorrow.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Sunshine1810: wow, that's an early beta. I've still got my fingers crossed for you.

@Shutterbug: I thought it seemed early too. They set up one tomorrow and one on Friday. I just assumed that if tomorrow is negative I won't need Friday's test.

@Sunshine1810: try to stay positive!
@jaguar: thank you! Congratulations to you!!

@Sunshine1810: So sorry about the BFN, but it is still early!! Many women don't get BFP's for a few more days! I'm still hopeful for you!!!!

So I didn't qualify for the study and my AFC was only a 4. I was totally expecting this, but it was still hard to hear. I fought back tears when the tech said she only saw two follies on both ovaries. Oh well. At least we'll get to do the protocol I like better that worked in the past. Now we'll just have to spend way more like before. I will get the call today with my RE's instructions as to what to do next.
The fact that my AFC is only a 4 is of course concerning, but not as bad as the first time. That's what I had 2 1/2 years ago, yet they got 13 eggs. So I am crossing my fingers that again I'll get enough eggs, even though my AFC is super low. Guess we'll find out soon enough. Just want to get this show on the road, as the waiting part is just mentally draining at this point.
@FliegepilzHut: They adjust meds often based on the hormonal levels, so I bet everything is just fine. You probably just need less meds! Keep us posted! You are doing great!!
@mrswin: That's great news! Looks like you'll be a few weeks ahead of me now. So exciting!!!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: All I remember having the first time and this time is a hysteroscopy to check the inside of the uterus. Good luck to you! Glad your numbers all look good!!!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@FliegepilzHut: I just looked back at my levels, and mine was just under 300 after 4 days of stims. They didn't end up changing my dosage until the very end of stimming. I stimmed for 9 days total, my final E2 level (day of trigger) was 3902. They ended up giving me Cabergoline to help prevent OHSS, and it worked. I got 19 eggs. Good luck!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Jenn23: ah shoot, sorry you didn't qualify I agree with you though that the silver lining is you get to do the protocol that will work best for you!
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Sunshine1810: I agree with some of the other ladies, that seems like a really early beta. FX that you get a in the next couple of days!
@FliegepilzHut: No advice on the E2 levels but I know the RE said that it is normal for them to fluctuate the level of stims
@Jenn23: I replied on the IF thread too but I'm sorry that you didn't qualify and have to pay out of pocket.
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Mrs.Pinecone316: I only had to do the hysteroscopy (same as a saline sonogram from what I have read). My RE doesn't repeat the HSG because they are not concerned about your tubes when doing IVF
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@Jenn23: @mrswin: @Shutterbug: Thank you, ladies! BTW-- the Menopur injection is a little different, isn't it?! (Bigger needle, maybe burns a little going in....) I'm going to start pulling out some tricks (ice, distraction) for that one...
@Sunshine1810: I'm sorry you had a BFN this morning. It does sound SUPER early, though...and depending on which tests you are using, it's possible that the blood test will be more accurate. and FX that you get your soon! (BTW-- and you don't have to answer, if you don't want to-- did you have embryos to freeze?)
@Jenn23: Rats. I am glad that you have a protocol that has worked for you in the past, though. When will you start?
