    @Synchronicity: @bizwitch: FMU can be tricky because you always have some LH in your system, and if the FMU is really concentrated, it can make the test look positive when it's not, or make it harder to distinguish an almost positive from a true positive. If the urine is concentrated but not super-concentrated, it tends to make it easier to tell a true positive... With the batch of sticks I was using most recently, I found with FMU that it looked close to positive for over a week, but testing later in the morning or afternoon, it was much easier to tell. I also got more of a visible fade in. This is important because it's not uncommon to ovulate on the same day as the positive OPK. My RE says the LH surge happens first in the blood and takes time to make its way to the urine, so you may not get a positive opk until the day after the surge and that doesn't leave a lot of time left to BD before it's too late, so if you can see if fading in it's helpful.

    @periwinklebee: my afternoon test was actually slightly lighter than my FMU test. Dunno what that means but not trying to stress about it.

    Unrelated: We adopted a dog today! We put our last dog down in summer 2015 and said we'd focus on TTC and wait to get another dog until after we had a kid. Well a year and a half has passed, and I told DH I don't want to wait any longer. We can't put our whole lives on hold while we try to have a baby! Anyway, meet Roscoe!

    @bizwitch: Aw - that's awesome! So cute!!!!

    I would expect afternoon to be lighter unless you surged between morning and afternoon, since it's probably less concentrated.

    @periwinklebee: thank you for all the info! My evening OPK was lighter, so I'll definitely keep testing a couple times a day to make sure I don't miss anything.

    You guys. AF is due on inauguration day. This was already gonna be a terrible terrible week. The thought of having salt to rub in it is just awful.

    Have you tested yet?

    @mrskansas: Yes. I'm shameless. I'm 8 or 9 DPO and nothing doing. In my head I know it's still so early, but I can't help but feel deflated. Oy.

    @madisonbee: That's pretty hilarious. Pandas always make things better.

    @bizwitch: awww new puppy! I want another dog so badly, but our work schedule doesn't' allow for it. DS loves dogs and it breaks my heart we don't have one.

    @knittylady: Or you could get a positive and turns the day right side up.

    I'm symptom spotting really badly. DH came down with the flu just after we started TTC, so we only got one shot at it. I'm crazy bloated and my boobs are so sore. The only other time they were this sore was when I was pregnant with DS. But, I am still so early and don't know how symptoms are with subsequent pregnancies. Although, with my kid throwing playdoh around I don't know how sad I will be if I get a BFN.

    @knittylady: I totally understand. It's hard when you see so many women getting positives at 8/9 DPO but then you don't. Hard not to feel discouraged but it is still SO early.

    Just try to think that you have a few more days of peace before you have to worry about (1) the next cycle or (2) early pregnancy and all the stress that comes with that. That's how I make it through the TWW.

    @Eko: Haha, most of the time I want to be pregnant so badly and then my daughter will be a typical toddler and I'm like "maybe I should just stick with one..." LOL

    @bizwitch: great looking cake and congrats on the pup! Roscoe is adorable!

    On 9dpo and can't say that I feel any different than normal. I think I even got my token pre af zit (it's smaller than usual but I think it qualifies). Ordered my frer so I may test in a couple days when they get here or try to hold out until closer to when AF is due...

    @mrskansas: Amen!!

    @Mrs. K: That may be a good approach!! I got about 4 hours of sleep last night because DS wasn't feeling good and DH has the flu.. all while working late nights since it's busy season and I can't nap right now because I have an electrician doing work on my house. DS got playdoh stuck in my carpet and threw a remote at my nose and I was convinced it broke my nose for a few minutes. Happy Monday

    @Eko: lol thank you I needed that! Glad your nose isn't broken and I also have play doh stuck in my carpet still from when my niece visited over thanksgiving. With two dogs and a cat I have completely given up on anything really looking "nice" anymore. Sometimes I tell myself that if we can't have kids we can just get more dogs to fill the void

    This mornings OPK was the lightest one yet. I'm afraid I missed it! Sort of regretting not springing for the digital ones this cycle. Aggghhhh. I've been sick on top of it so we haven't even BD yet. We will tonight, CD 13. Ugh I'm a mess LOL.

    @bizwitch: my OPK yesterday afternoon was almost stark white compared to my previous three days. I was like wait, what?! Might be a fluke stick. Get your BD on tonight, missy!

    @bizwitch: Have you been testing twice a day?
    And definitely keep testing - I've read that LH usually surges in the mornings so an OPK won't pick it up until later in the day.

    @madisonbee: that's hilarious!! I'm in the process of trying to decide when to test... AF is due Sat or Sunday (depending on which app I look at)...

    Update: frer won't be here until Thursday so I guess that keeps me from testing early

    I have 2 cysts on my left ovary, no meds for me this cycle and if my E2 levels are too high its a cycle of birth control. Oh the irony of going on birth control when trying to have a baby.

    @snarkybiochemist: Oh sweetie I'm so sorry. That really sucks.

    Last night I had kind of a meltdown after DH couldn't finish when we tried to BD. This is the second time this has happened recently whereas it almost never happened (like once or twice in 6+ years) before TTC. He said he's not sure why it happened but admitted it could be some of the pressure he feels when we're trying to time things. I think me being on Clomid and the added cost of blood draws, ultrasounds and acupuncture is putting extra pressure on him to perform, so to speak.

    When he couldn't it really stressed me out and I started crying. I'm like... after all this we have got to get the sperm in there! And soon! Now! Otherwise we lose our chance! And I started thinking about how, after this cycle, we get five more cycles on Clomid and then it's on to the next steps, potentially IVF. But I was crying and saying I didn't want to have to go into debt to have a baby. Then I took a shower and while I was trying to fall asleep (through my hacking cough) I started fantasizing about becoming foster parents (regular adoption is just way too expensive for us). And like, that doesn't sound like the worst thing in the world to me, and I started feeling really good about the potential opportunity to help a child who really, really needs hep.

    I know I am getting way ahead of myself and I probably should not have freaked out so much since I hadn't even had a positive OPK yet. I had one this morning and then we BD'd first thing - he was great and wonderful and everything worked out.

    This will be the first cycle ever that we have actually timed BD with a positive OPK. I'm crossing all my fingers and toes for this cycle.

    Thanks again ladies for all your support. I really don't know what I'd do without you guys.

    @bizwitch: TTC is such a roller coaster. The same thing happened with my husband, its worse when I spend days warning him ahead of time that its coming. He does a lot better when I don't try to warn him ahead of time and try to make it a bit more spontaneous.
