Jealous of those that got pro photos :(

Lately I am seeing all these post of pro photo shoots and I am SO jealous! Jealousy is not becoming but I can't help it.
We couldn't afford maternity pictures, nor newborn photos. And now M is approaching 6 months and we can't afford that either.

Anyone else jealous?

And yea that baby moon I desperately wanted while pregnant thru winter in the NE? Didn't get that either.

Ok that's my little dose of self pity.

P.S. I know I can call art students, Craigslist et al. But baby + new house/renovations + laid off = not even $50 to spare.

@regberadaisy: Awww (((((BIG HUGS)))))) You guys are going through so much right now

I know my little point n shoot camera has made some pretty awesome pictures, so as long as you're taking some, I wouldn't worry about it. If you really want some, maybe you can tell people that's what you want for a Christmas/birthday gift?

Why about just going to sears or jcpenny? We have gone there and they usually don't charge a sitting fee. You can get a small package of like three sheets of one pose for like $15. They aren't digital but they are a good keepsake. We did sears for a cake smash/first year/baptism pictures and got all of the shots on a cd for $80

Maybe you know someone with a nice camera who would either take some for you or let you borrow it for an afternoon? I'm being the "photographer" for some friends this month for Christmas cards - I'd totally do the same for you if you were closer!

Also, I know you mentioned Craigslist, art school, etc, but there are a lot of photographers who are just starting out and will do a shoot for free just to start a portfolio. You could even put an ad out on CL yourself (just meet at a public place).

If you are in NE, I do see packages on Living Social every once in a while, but I'm guessing that's still too much money, which I totally get. But my feeling is, it's really important to have the photographic evidence of how tiny LO once was. Even if it isn't a beautifully executed photo with great lighting and composition, as long as you have a bunch of photos from your own camera, you can still look back and marvel at how tiny M was. So just keep snapping away with whatever you have (Phone, camera, whatever) and you'll still have that!

@regberadaisy: Awww we havent done any pro photos yet, we just use our DSLR at home. I am excited to see her school pictures, hopefully they will be nice.

@BabyBoecksMom: aww thanks! Yea, I'm hoping people ask and I will straight up ask for $ towards a pro shoot.
@Thehistoryofus: thanks! Honestly we've done that before with our nieces & nephews and I'm not a fan.
@Shutterbug: I do have a DSLR myself so I'm planning on taking some pictures myself of her beyond the monthly pics when she's 6 months. I have a really good friend that's a amateur photographer and I might see if my husband would be up to getting some outdoor fall pics. Maybe after we move into the new house. But even with that we would feel compelled to give him a gift card even though he won't charge us
@Foodnerd81: you're totally right and I do do that. But it's just not the same as using a Pro!
