@MrsMcD: It is my first IUI, through all my testing they have found that the only problem is my CM so they think that an IUI will do the trick. I just wonder if I didn't have it done too early. I read somewhere that after sperm is washed and spun they only live about 6-12 hours, so if I didn't ovulate until the next day it may have been too early. Plus my Progesterone was only 13.6 7 days after the IUI, not so good. BUT.... I guess I will wait and see if AF shows up. However I don't FEEL pregnant. So I don't know.

@PawPrints: I added you to the list!

@fotolori1: What did they say is wrong with your CM? (i'm asking because maybe I have that problem!!) And could you do another IUI if this one doesn't happen to do the trick?

@mrsmcd: I have had several tests done and the only one that was off was the post-coital exam. My laparoscopy showed that I had endo and scar tissue, they resolved that. Then my HSG was normal, then when I tried the clomid they had to do the post coital. They said that the numbers weren't very good and they recommended an IUI. Meaning my cm was either too acidic, or not thin enough for the sperm to swim well in, etc. But the clomid does dry you out. So it solves one problem and creates another.

I am doing another IUI next month, however I will have to pay for it all over again, but they will add quite a bit to the process. This month was just 50mg of clomid and OPKs, then the day after the positive OPK, we did the IUI. Next month, I will be on 100mg of clomid, then a day 13 ultrasound to check for mature follicles, then a trigger shot, THEN the IUI. I wish they had just done all that last time. It isn't cheap to pay for those every month.

How long have you been ttc? Have you been seeing an RE?

Good morning girls! Just hangin out here at cd 11 with a negative opk this morning. Boooring. But I'm heading to new teacher training today and I'm so excited about that!

@fotolori1: what's a post coital exam? I'm hopeful for you! Sounds like you're really close to a bfp!

@mamacate @nicole112: woohoo! Things have gotta start looking up! I will definitely keep my eyes open for some promising plates today

@organicmama: it is the "after sex test", they have you have sex the night before then come in and they do a scrape of your cervix and see the number of dead/living sperm cells are there. When they did mine, the numbers weren't good, so they said I didn't have a good environment for them to swim in. (Gross)

    cherry / 230 posts

@fotolori1: wow! I had no idea they could do that. That's actually kinda cool! I've wondered about my "environment" before... I'm glad you found a work around for it through iui

@LindsayInNY: yuck! Long distance hugs! I am sadly starting to dread some upcoming family events that I thought I would definitely be pregnant for...and DH 's family doesn't have much of a filter so I will be gritting my teeth! So sorry about your taxing weekend!

@fotolori1: for what it is worth I did get a BFP on a target blue dye test when I got pregnant last fall, but I eventually had a m/c. I think I was 13 dpo and the lines came up right away. Maybe it is still early? If not, good luck next cycle. I had no idea they could do those tests!

As for me, I decided not to test this morning as I have a feeling AF is on the way and I don't want to waste tests. I had a little spotting both yesterday and the day before which is not typical for me. Already feeling discouraged but trying to regroup for next cycle.

So I just want to share I had a patient in her late 30's who did have a miscarriage but she GOT pregnant. She has an extensive medical history and is going through so much on top of it. It really makes me want to feel grateful for being healthy and it just hasn't been "my" time yet. I know it will be, I feel it. I feel like people are meant to come into your life at different times. She wasn't meant to come into my life a year ago, or 6 months ago, but today. So, today I feel grateful for being healthy and I need to have a little more patience. ❤️ Ok, I'm done.

@LindsayInNY: sounds awful. Big hugs! I will be SO EXCITED when I see your BFP news.

I expect to O tomorrow. I did use conceive plus yesterday, laid down for 20 minutes after (missing Germany's goal- argh!), and used my menstrual cup afterward, so I guess I'm not really NTNP. But I'm not temping or using progesterone. Next cycle is almost certainly a no, since I will be out of town for a week, which when I booked, didn't look to be in FW, but stupid AF got off schedule. It probably works better because I would be due during the middle of a work trip that is REALLY important. Now that stress has improved, I think we'll give it a couple months and then discuss femara vs. HSG. I have done some reading that femara works as well or better than clomid, with fewer multiples.

In non-TTC news: Had a great, lazy day with DH and he was so sweet. Then today I got an email that I won an ipad. I often get these short surveys to do where you can win something, and last week was the first time I did it, and presto! I have an ipad 2 with 64GB. I bet the ipad is only 16GB but still, awesome! Still waiting for big news related to my old job which is frustrating and stressful. Please send prayers. Thanks!

@Crystal: There is someone selling TCOYF in the classifieds. I think you were looking, or I am having a blond moment.

@fotolori1: Thanks for explaining all of that. Wow. I can totally imagine that I have hostile CM. It just seems like something I would have. When you do the IUI, it is supposed to help the sperm bypass the CM? I'm on my 15th cycle and have been trying for a tad over a year. (I have fairly short cycles.) I am hopefully going to start clomid next cycle provided through my obgyn. I will do three cycles of clomid + TI before moving to an RE which will be paid for all out of pocket at this point in time. Sooo.... I'm slow about going to the RE. Hahaha.

@MamaCate: I totally support your decision to not test, but I don't support your less than hopeful attitude! If you are having spotting, and that's not typical, then you might have something to be hopeful about! If AF does come, regroup quickly and get hopeful for the next cycle!! In the meantime, keep us updated please!

Cycle #: 4 ( But started trying last summer see below)
    TTC #: 1
    POAS date:7/31
Backstory: My husband and I have been married for 4 years. Last summer we decided to try for a baby. We got pregnant the first cycle, went in for my us at 9w and the baby only measure 7w with no heart beat. We were devastated. I had a D&C.

My OB said after one cycle we could try again. So we did and I got pregnant again right before Christmas. I went in early for a scan since I ovulated late that cycle. Things looked good at 5 almost 6w. There was a fetal pole and a flicker. We went back to recheck at 8w, but there was no heartbeat. Had another D&C at the beginning of February. We took a long break to recover physically and emotionally.

I've had an HSG, bloodwork and karyotyping done and everything came back normal. Testing on the tissue both times has also come back normal.

If I don't belong in this thread please let me know. Technically I haven't been trying for 6 months if you add up the cycles I've tried, but I'm just not excited to post in the POAS thread.

    Bah. Ha.

So just now on my lunch, I swung by Walgreens to buy a 3-pack FRER...and who walks up behind me to check-out? One of my most annoying male students. LOL.

@MrsMcD: Hi hi! I adore you ladies, so this is good company. RE gave us a 1% chance because DH has low count and bad morphology. I also apparently lost many eggs when I had an ovarian tumor removed.

@Crystal: I missed you too!! I'm sorry that I started getting depressed and disappeared.

@Kate6214: Oh friend..... you can join any thread you want to join and you are absolutely welcome here with us!! Wow, you've been through a rough time. I think you will find lots of girls who can support you here. One of our newly recently pregnant girls had an issue with keeping the sticky babies, I think. I hope she pops up here. I'll add you to the POAS list and will absolutely keep you in my thoughts!! I'm on my 15th cycle TTC and haven't gotten a bfp yet so I've clearly got problems of my own. I just had an HSG done a week ago. Are you seeing an obgyn or an RE?

@MrsStar: yay congrats! So excited for you! Please post a pic when you get your frer--it is so nice to see those lines. Best wishes for a healthy and happy nine months!

@MrsMcD: thanks for the words of encouragement, sweet friend! It is now past lunchtime here and every time I go pee I fully expect to see AF. Still nothing though, so maybe you are on to something. I was already nearly in tears last night so I am going to try to be cautious until i know more. Maybe you all can be hopeful for me?

I will certainly keep you all posted!

I think this was just lucky month 12! I used opks, zinc and folic acid. we bd 0-2, 0-1, 0 and 0+1. I thought something was up on Sunday because I got an ulcer in my mouth in a weird spot but it didn't hurt (Ulcers were my early pregnancy symptom with LO1 which is super weird) and slightly sore boobs - felt heavier I guess. And that's basically it! Really hope this is the real deal but trying not to get too excited until I get through without AF and a positive frer.

You ladies are seriously amazing, I don't post too much but I read through what everyone writes and I really hope you all get bfps asap!
