If anyone loves to play the "name game" as much as I do, feel free to toss out some suggestions!
We are naming our first LOs middle name after my MIL. Easy enough that her name flows with a lot.
DH and I agree if we ever have a DD#2, her middle name should be Sandy, after my mom. Sandy isn't short for anything and so far nothing sounds right with it.
Play along if you have ideas!

@Coco Bee: Oh you don't even know! My MIL's name is "Irene". I've been having a hoot for the past few weeks... my two mom's are Irene and Sandy! But poor mom, everyone's been calling her all sorts of things these days! lol

I should add, between our two families, I think most common names have already been used once or twice!

@shopaholic: Sandy is tough because it's so informal and midcentury in style - you might have to use a long casual first name to get the syllables right, plus you have the consonant sound and first syllable emphasis. Since Sandy/Sandra are really taken from Alexander, what if you used another form of the name, like Alexa/Alexis/Alexandra/Alessandra?

DHs idea was to use Sandra (which is actually my mom's cousin) and I like Alexa or Alexis, but my mom wouldn't see it as being the same. It is a tough one though isn't it? DH said if we have a DD#2, we probably just have to use Sandy as a first name.

@shopaholic: They're all different styles for sure. Alexa is more modern, Alexandra is a little more classic, Alessandra is romantic and girly, Sandra and Sandy are a bit more dated.

I think you could work with Sandy. It is the nickname for Alexandra, so you could even do something like "Alexandra Sandy" if you wanted to. I think it's awfully sweet to honor your mom.
The other day I came up with the best girl's name, and now I'm not remembering. If I remember, I'll share with you!

Seeing all the fun and buzz on the name board right now and so many awesome name gurus, figured I'd try to revive this old thread because DH and I still can never figure out anything good. My mom doesn't see any other form of Alexandra as being a nod to her because she only goes by Sandy and her cousin is Sandra. Sheesh.
Adding in another component - DH wants a name to end with "n" because all of ours already do.
Any new suggestions?!

@shopaholic: oh man! That's a tough middle name to work with!!! I love how your LO's name flows - it's going to be hard to find one that flows as well with Sandy. It would probably be easier to use your Mom's chinese name!

It's hard to stump me, but this is a challenge. The only name I've found so far to meet the requirements is Caitlin and I don't love it... But it does sound good with Sandy. I'll keep looking.

Sandy seems very 80s to me. Pairing it with classics seem a bit awkward. I think the best bet is to stick with similar namesto the period.

I had this great thought that Carmen would sound great with K's name and would work with Sandy. And then I said it again and realize it's basically Carmen Sandiego. Haha. If that's your thing, though...

hahah! You ladies all know me too well! Yup, Vivian and Kaitlyn are already taken!
You know I really really think Evalyn/Evelyn goes nicely with all our names but DH seems to hate it with a passion. Jillian, Madelyn, Marilyn, Jocelyn, Arden, and Theresa are all also out due to family/friends.
I've been trying to figure out whether I like the name Lillian or not.

Of the ones suggested, I like Leighton (we have a niece named this and she is a cutie!) and Lauren a lot. Addison, Cameron, and Meagan are also cute.
