Suggest a white elephant gift for a group of kids (say age 3-15 but wouldn't be a big deal to get something not quite age appropriate) and obviously gender neutral and in a cheaper price range ($20).
I thought this also would be a great list of generic, practical, cheap gifts that many could reference.
So far I have thought of:
Board game (card game, parents of the younger kids could enjoy now).
iTunes gift card (for apps, music, or games)
Ice cream gift card

Tickets to the movie theater/movie night gift basket
Edible mason jar mixtures (hot cocoa, holiday cookie, granola etc)

Toys R Us gift card or amazon gift card. Its a huge age range. I would get the gift card so the kids can get what they want.

I know a wide range of kids would love a gift card to the local frozen yogurt place we have here (the kind where there are a million toppings to choose from).
The rainbow loom bracelet maker thing? I think it's less than $20 and very popular right now.
Any recent release animated movie (add popcorn and candy)
A fun water bottle or straw cup (CVS has holiday straw cups for $5 that have glitter or snow globes in them). You could add something like kool aid packets inside.

To me a white elephant is a gag gift. We always give silly, useless items like a sweet spandex leisure suit or muumuu with matching night cap. For a gift exchange I would do a gift card. But wrap it up in a bigger box so it stumps the kids!
