Our appliances came with the house, but I wish there were buttons on the front of the dishwasher (even for display purposes). I have opened the dishwasher accidentally not noticing the tiny blue light when DH did a load.

Induction is a personal preference. We also have our stove top on a small island but I prefer gas over electric. DD sees the "fire" and know to stay away. I never had issues with oil splattering.

We just replaced most of our appliances. Our oven is built in with a separate cooktop on our counter. We did get a convection oven and I haven't used it to bake cakes/breads/cookies etc yet. We were limited in our selection because it's a smaller size (27") and built in so we didn't have as much selection in general. This new oven puts off a lot of heat! It really warms up our house. What I really like about it is that the bottom element is built into the oven (not exposed) and it has a steam clean option. The built in lower element gives us more interior room in an already small'ish oven.

Dishwasher, we have the Bosch without a heating element. I like the third rack for silverware. We use it for our larger utensils and sippy cup lids. What I don't like is how the bottom rack is configured, it makes loading it efficiently difficult. Ours also projects a red light on the floor when its in use, like this as well.

We bought a new dishwasher within the last few years. We wanted hidden handles and buttons, stainless steel. Wash cycles with a sanitize option. Shorter cycle options. And oh also we wanted it to be relatively quiet when running a cycle! We also have a Bosch and there is also the red light on the bottom when in use.

I much much prefer gas and am a snob about it and refuse to use anything else. For the stove it was important to get at least one burner with a high btu for wok cooking. A true simmer capability. An oven that can fit a 25lb turkey. LOL seriously. Also the convection option is very handy for when we're crunched for time to get dinner on the table. It does speed up the cooking time! We went with a Capital stove. I did a ton of research on lots of cooking forums and the majority opinion was that Viking / Wolf Had a lot of consumer complaints with customer service. DH and I are avid cooks and it's what we do for "fun" so we definitely wanted a (semi) professional stove.

We knew what we wanted for a stove and fridge and ended up buying from a local appliance store after much research. They were able to give us the best pricing and offered me a contractor discount on top of it.

Noise is the main thing with dishwashers.
We have a Bosch Ascenta that you can stand in front of not and hear it running.
For my clients we usually recommend Bosch or Miele for dishwashers. They are pricey but soooo worth it.

We're on the hunt for a new dishwasher also so this is perfect!!

@T.H.O.U.: I forgot to mention that we have a Frigidaire dishwasher. It has a small display on the front that tells you how long is left on the cycle and it's pretty quiet. In three years of ownership, we have only had to make a small repair (changing a worn-out gasket on the door) that literally took 10 minutes and cost $12.

For sure we have the 104. I just did a quick look and looks like the 204 has a tiny third rack up top which we do not have. And honestly probably wouldn't use. I'd rather have the height for wine glasses. Ha. :). We have been super happy with it thus far. We have an open concept kitchen/living room and we can finally run the dishwasher at any time of day. Our old one we had to run at night it was so loud.

@T.H.O.U.: good glad you found something you like! It's a good time to buy them too with all of the holiday specials. Oh and just FYI. I was talking to the plumber who installed it. He said it was actually best to minimally rinse your dishes. Giant stuff you wash off but it's good to leave food on or else the strong enzymes in the detergent actually start to eat away at the seals and surfaces of dishware and plastics if they have nothing to "chew" on. This was new to me; I was a serial thorough rinser!!
