I was talking to my two Aunts on Sunday and they said something about time to have #2. I said no, we aren't ready and I am not sure we are. Thinking about just having one. One Aunt said, why would you do that to R? She will be all alone when DH and you die.
Really? That isn't a reason to have another child! We have other family!

OMG, some people have no sense and say the craziest things!! Sorry you had to listen to that, especially since I know it's a hard decision for you guys to be potentially done at one!

My grandmother is the queen of telling people that you just can't *possibly* have one kid. (The horrors!!!) How inappropriate - as if anyone else has insight into why *you* would make a decision as personal as how many kids to have.
(FWIW, I get it from the other end. Every time I mention to my mom that we might want 3 kids, she has a hissy fit.)

Sorry, friend! That sucks to be hit with that regardless, but especially when you're still deciding if you want another and can make it work. I think sometimes it's hard for people with more than one kid or people who are close to their siblings to think beyond how much they love their own siblings or seeing their children together, but that doesn't make it right to comment and it doesn't mean their views have to be yours. R is going to be happy and loved regardless of whether you have another or not, and that's really all that matters at the end of the day.

@Smurfette: so silly! While there are nice things about siblings, I am not especially close to mine and mostly just seem them at holidays! I certainly would not be all alone if I was an only child.

I wish people would realize family size is never appropriate to comment on for any reason! It's none of their business! Gah! My two will be so close in age that everyone assumes we're going for a Duggar sized brood and it's so irritating because the comments are just intrusive and rude. My aunt literally asked me what I'd be doing for birth control post-baby on Saturday.

My clients are now asking when we will have children. I want to say oh, we are going into month 8 of timed intercourse,I'll let you know if and when it works.

@Smurfette: I'm so sorry. We get that too, only from people who don't really know us but who see/meet LO. *But she's so gorgeous, how could you not have another?* On the other side, I also have a few people who tell me they are *relieved/happy* that we probably won't have another because they know how hard the pregnancy/delivery/LO's health issues were. Uh, so I'm selfish (depriving the world of a beauty) if I don't, and *asking for it* if I do.

*IF* we end up getting pregnant, we will absolutely 100% stop at one. We have no interest or desire to have more than that. I'm already getting some ridiculous comments about it and how selfish it is. I'm sorry you have to deal with it too! People just suck sometimes.
