Everytime we talk about preschool and kindergarden I have memories of lefty metal scissors that never freaken worked. I wonder if I'm the only one with vivid memories of those.

I wasn't even a lefty and I remember that! I hope my LO's not a lefty for that very reason.

@artbee: ha! well i assume after 25 years they've improved on their scissors selection but dang was I scarred for life! My construction paper would always get stuck in the scissors.

Lol! I actually remember those. I also recall they "worked" like righty scissors if you tried to use them with your left hand.

Ugh your paper would always just fold over the scissors when you tried to cut. I don't understand why lefty scissors ha to be so special compared to the white!
DH and I are both left handed so it's really nice not having to worry about finding the correct scissors or which side of te table to site on etc. I'm kinda hoping DS becomes left handed as well. We'll see!

Just found this thread because of another post on lefties. I am a lefty but use scissors with my right hand as a result of those awful lefty scissors!!!

Yes, I had lefty scissors with my name stuck on them with a piece of tape. They suck. I just learned to use righty scissors.

I didn't like them and just used righty scissors with my left hand - still do!

Yup! I think this is the reason I'm better with right-handed scissors.

hahahahhahahahahaha...why does the school system think it can cheat lefties?!
Not cool!

Ugh! Totally remember them. So frustrating as a kid!! I, too, learned how to cut with right handed scissors.

Husband is left handed and I remember hearing left handed people live an average of 5 years less because of the added stress or being left handed, I think this thread leads me to think that might be true /: Poor left handed husband.

@Mrs. Sunglasses: I remember in our school right handed scissors were blue and the left handed scissors were green. If you didnt run to get your scissors fast enough you were stuck with the only 2 green scissors at the bottom of the basket.
Oh, how tough it is to be a right handed individual sometimes..
DH is a south paw and I secretly love when he can't open a can.. I'm like STEP ASIDE FEEBLE MAN. LET ME HANDLE THIS!

I remember them! That's probably why I cut with my right hand!

Yes! I don't bother with left-handed scissors for that reason. I find that I have adapted well to using things made for right-handed people.
