We're going to be visiting my parents in Socal and I'd like to take the kids on one special adventure. Last time we went to Disneyland. This time I'm thinking Legoland or Sea World. I haven't been to either one even though I grew up there (I was more of a Magic Mountain girl).
They both love legos and sea creatures, so I can't decide!
Which would you recommend for a 2 and 4 year old?

Legoland! My nephews LOVED it!
ETA: And yeah, I'll be boycotting Sea World because of Blackfish as well, even though I loved it as a kid.

I hate to bring this up, but just being honest...I would choose Legoland solely based on my opinions of Sea World after watching 'Blackfish'.
FWIW, I've heard great things about Legoland for your LOs age range.

Although if it were me, we'd just go to Disneyland/California Adventures again. But I'm a Disney nut with no urge to ever go anywhere else, haha!

but i feel like legoland is for younger kids so the window is smaller.

As a kid, I would have loved to go to Sea World. As an adult, I'd rather support Legoland.

I live in San Diego:-). I suggest Legoland-I think it has a lot more for toddlers and young kids than SeaWorld, personally. I also highly recommend the Zoo or Safari Park!

Like you said, Legoland is good while the kids are young- (Check out the Go LA pass for deals.) Sea World has some really great exhibits great for young ones (don't forget the swimsuit) but yah, I've heard some sad stories about the politics and that really bothers me. Next time I go to SoCal, I really want to check out Scripps Aquarium as an alternative sea exploration.

Legoland! They have an aquarium there, too (smaller, but at least they can see some sea creatures). It's great for that age. You could also do Pretend City in Irvine for a quick day trip.

Legoland. Between watching the Cove and Blackfish, I'll never go to another sea world or swim with dolphins or anything like that.

Sea World is getting a lot of backlash from the documentary, Blackfish. I'd go with Legoland!

I haven't seen blackfish and I think there are issues with all animals in captivity, but I still support Sea World. I had an annual pass growing up and live just a few miles away now. It's great for little kids (as are the Zoo and Safari park). I haven't been to Legoland yet. I also highly rec. Scripps aquariums and the new Children's museum.

@808love: The Cove broke my heart. I haven't been able to muster up the courage to watch Blackfish... I hate watching anything that has to do with the suffering of children or animals. I think I'll eventually get myself to watch it, but I need to mentally prepare myself.

Legoland and the kids at that age can do everything. It's not quite as cool when you are an adult. And they have an aquarium and water park in the summer

Add me to the list of people that can no longer support Sea World after watching Blackfish My vote is for Legoland or the Wild Animal Safari Park. We took DD there recently and she loved it!

the kids would love legoland! i haven't been as R is still a bit too young and it's pricey otherwise. the SD zoo is spot on as well, but you have zoos by you too! i think they would love seaworld too, but from my understanding, legoland is made for kids their age!

I haven't been to Legoland or Seaworld in over 10 years. From what I remember of Legoland, I think it'll be more fun for an older toddler, whereas Seaworld would be fun for both ages (and overall if they like marine life).
I haven't watched Blackfish, but I remember going on school field trips to Seaworld as a kid (I was raised in SD) and I know they put a lot into research and conservation. If we end up visiting my mom later this year, (LO will be 2.5) we'll likely take her to Seaworld.

Same as pps, I can't do seaworld after seeing blackfish. I'm not a big fan of zoos, aquariums etc in general anyway though . I vote legoland!

Not sure how Legoland is in SoCal, but here, it sucks. Totally not worth the admission fee. I pick Sea World. They can feed various sea creatures, which is fun!
